3 hours guys. 3 FUCKING HOURS.
Midnight release? Fuck yea.
Wonder if I can VPN to activate early like I did with Deus Ex HR.
Thread becomes dead all night because everyone is playing Gods & Kings.
Well, I pre-ordered it, steam says I own it. But it isn't in my DLC tab and none of the content is in the game either. Is this happening for everyone?
Restart steam.
Restart steam.
As soon as it restarted, Civ V began to update. Thanks for the help!
Restart steam.
Basically this for anyone who is having troubles with the game not updating or playing. [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] So.. Is the game crashing on startup for anyone else? Can't even get to the intro cutscene. [editline]18th June 2012[/editline] Seems to be an issue with DX11, DX9 mode works fine.
Nukes. That should be your default answer to every stubborn situation
I was trying to capture a city, and they had so fucking many tanks, so i dropped a nuclear missile on the tanks, and accidentally destroyed the city i was trying to capture.
today I tried Civ5 today I found another game I need today I played Civ5 for 7 hours straight
i really like that you can create and customise your own religion. makes it so much better than civ 4's system.
Does it seem to take minutes for the "next turn" button to be click-able or to actually do what it says, the whole game feels retarded (in the literal definition) and really disrupts the flow of play and makes a whole turn pointlessly longer simply because the button won't function.
Often at turn 150-200+ it takes a good minute to get back to me after I end my turn.. It seems to get better after I minimize the fog-of-war, though. So what's the verdict on Gods&&Kings? Is the game fixed???!!

Ethiopa feels a bit too powerful with their bonus against larger civs. I was barely bigger than them and they were just dropping my troops left and right because of the 20% boost on top of other ones like terrain, etc. Are there any tweaks or fixes to make Civ5 run better? The turns generally take longer and longer after about turn 150 as someone mentioned above. Would taking city states out entirely fix it?

At face value it doesn't look like combat's change all that much but it feels different. Barbarians are a pain in the ass in the game I played. I was getting Barbarian camps spawning every eight turns or so three at a time around my Civilization, and this was on Warlord. The Faith and Religion system is pretty cool. I like that Monks and Prophets have multiple uses now. I also really like that they added a Great Admiral. It always felt silly having my poor general floating across the sea being absolutely useless in vanilla Civ V. I played as the Mayans. Their Archer replacement seemed kind of meh, it's nice that you can get it first thing but you usually have Archery researched in the first 10 or 15 turns anyway, and it's quickly made obsolete by the Composite Bowman, I could see them being more useful on longer games, I played on Standard. Their special building was also a little lackluster but also a nice way to boost faith and science early on in the game. Their trait balances that out though because you get a great person for free every 350 turns which was pretty nice. I also really like some of the new maps they added, the one I played on was an Amazon map where it was mostly jungle and marsh. Definitely changed how the pace of the game went and I'm really interested to try that map as the Aztecs or the all forest variant as Boudica or the Iroquois.
I played as Carthage first, named my religion Hannibalism :v:. Carthage's units are awesome early on but become obsolete pretty fast. So far I'm really liking the new mechanics. Religion is vastly improved from Civ IV since you can customize what it does instead of just getting more culture. Also naval combat is finally a viable option in war since ships can capture cities.
I had a it feeling it would be OP when I heard about it.
I'm sure it'll even out later into the game, it just felt really powerful early in. I'm enjoying Religion so far as well. I like how it feels like another dimension of warfare. Even as you're fighting the enemy soldiers you're fighting a border war over religious influence. Now if they can just fix the longer and longer turn times we'll be in business.
I will say I wish they'd added another victory condition tied into to religion somehow, but I can't think of a way they'd do it.

How is Civ5 not on sale goddamnit?
It was a couple of weeks ago when they had the free weekend.
Civ V is still so god damn expensive.

Going to try out Byzantium first since no one has tried her yet.
http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/sid-meiers-civilization-v
It gives you a Steam code, correct? Also that site looks kinda... weird.
How's Naval Warfare? I love building fleets but the new abilities for them make it actually seem worthwhile.
Do you lose a lot?
