So yesterday I played as Theodora. We had this pretty awesome girl power nation going. I took over the entire south, Boudicca took over the north west and Dido took the north east. I was friends with both of them, and spread my religion with Dido. She was struggling like hell so I helped her the best I could, since I had about 6 sources of luxury gold. Her and Boudicca had some trouble at first, but they eventually forgave themselves and became friends. We were good pals for a good 200 turns, I had defensive pacts with both of them, friends with both of them. Suddenly, Dido wages war with Boudicca out of nowhere and I'm forced to wage war on her even though she is my friend, which puts me in a bad light with all the other leaders. The war is over and we're all good, despite some minor tension. I'm hoping this goes away soon. I want to go back to being a power puff nation.
Earth map best map. I mean sure Germans and Greeks starting in NA and the British being in Africa doesn't make much sense but what the hell. Also the AI can still be retarded and suicidal. I was at 1000 points (second place was 550, thanks to me having taken the entirety of NA and having been isolated from everyone for centuries) and had 22000 points on the military scale, while everyone else was between 3000 and 500. Also most of the world loves me (mostly because of my huge, veiny, throbbing military phallus) and has friendship with me. What happens you might ask? The British (who aren't even near second place) start threatening and insulting me, soon followed by the Egyptians (second place) and the Americans (fourth place). Seriously do you fuckers want to die or what? I'm gonna sic Gandhi on their asses.
I wonder if Gandhi's behaviour was an intentional joke on the dev's part. I can't help but imagine him sitting on a gigantic throne carried by hundreds of slaves like that Xerxes in 300, with many handy buttons for launching all manner of missiles.
Fractal maps are nice.
Are those part of the vanilla game? How do you get one?

[editline]20th June 2012[/editline] Also, just had a really awesome idea for a mod... if you adopted the autocracy social policy, I would mod in a "gas chamber" building to "dispose" of dissenters to your empire, in a concentration camp styled fashion. It would lower happiness and city population by a portion for a set amount of turns as the undesirables were purged from your city, and it would lower your relations with empires that weren't autocratic, but eventually you would get a happiness and a production boost for your empire. And if you had one in every city, you could build the "Auschwitz" wonder. Good idea, no?
Really enjoying the fact that with Boudicca's Faith bonuses you are almost always guaranteed to found a religion as the Celts.
Ethiopia's monument replacement gives faith so they get it fast too.
Are those part of the vanilla game? How do you get one?
It's in the advanced options.

Would be an interesting choice to have, but having an Auschwitz wonder would probably be a bit tasteless.
Something a bit more ambiguous like a eugenics program would work, rather than Nazi death camps.
And now Steam accepts my activation code. Yay.

Admiral William Anchor. Lord and Admiral of the Great Pond.
How the hell did that get there?
What difficulty is everyone playing on? It feels hard for me even on easy. I just keep getting attacked and destroyed, because I don't have time to develop a good army before someone has already captured most of the continent.

I have not played a game that lasts more than 100 turns yet because I'm picky about what world I get and where i spawn. Am i the only one like this?

So, had the entirety of NA as the Germans and took the bottom of Africa from the Brits. Somehow even though they hated me, insulted me and were a pain in the ass to everybody, the world hates me. Fine, fuck the world's opinion, I'm leagues above everyone else and they can't touch m-OH FUCK ARE THOSE POLYNESIANS GETTING CLOSE TO THE UN? So I find myself with everyone hating me, and the possibility of some cunt building the UN, and I sure as hell wouldn't get many votes. There is (was) also the problem that they had India, meaning they were right in the middle of everyone else, meaning it wasn't easy getting to them (sea assaults under bombardment from their cities would be a huge pain in the ass). Anyway decided that letting them build in peace was the worst idea, so declared war on them. Suddenly all the other fuckers start denouncing and insulting me. End up in war with Polynesia, India, the Huns, US and some other (Byzantium or someone, can't remember who, it was a woman). Took south America pretty easily (bunch of jungle people, 1989 and still 99% jungle), Africa was a pain but managed to push them back to the Mediterranean. Currently ploughing through the Egyptians in Asia, aiming right for the Polynesians in India, they could complete the UN any second now (I dropped 2 ICBMs to discourage them).
Can someone explain to me how to efficiently use roads? I end up just building a lot of them for fast travel between cities. Are there bonuses for linking resources to them?
Can someone explain to me how to efficiently use roads? I end up just building a lot of them for fast travel between cities. Are there bonuses for linking resources to them?
I build them between my cities and that's it.
Can someone explain to me how to efficiently use roads? I end up just building a lot of them for fast travel between cities. Are there bonuses for linking resources to them?

Only build trade routes to cities with 6 population or more. If you follow this rule of thumb, you will, at the least, never lose money on a trade route. Further, if you start working on the trade route when the city is size 6 already, there's a good chance it will have grown to 7 at least by the time you finish, and you can actually start making enough money for that worker time to be worth it. Final note on trade routes: Arabia gets a flat +1 to trade route income. (AFTER the multiplier, so simply add 1 to every gold number on the chart.) So feel free connect Arabian cities at population 5 or more, if you like.
http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/7892/is-it-worth-connecting-my-cities-with-roads-early-in-civ-5 when i have a plot of surplus money aswell as a couple hundred per turn i like to give each city two roads (seen in my picture above) so that they can get along faster than just going down a single line
Anyone else crashing when loading a game?

But the turn after that she denounced me again.
Just founded Discordianism in Mecca. Fuck you, history!
Why is the Celts person a woman? ...Maybe the guy kept running after the sheep or something.
Why is the Celts person a woman? ...Maybe the guy kept running after the sheep or something.
Boudica was a brilliant strategist and sacked a roman city you sexist. And by your sheep comment you're also ignorant.
Why is the Celts person a woman? ...Maybe the guy kept running after the sheep or something.
Wow.
Had some issues with my internet cutting out, no big deal, but I did notice that I'd earned a few achievements while my internet was down, but didn't technically earn them on the steam achievement list, but at other times it had (I have a bad ISP, tends to cut out at the worst times). Any ideas if these achievements should be still unlockable, despite technically already having done the prerequisites for them in game?
holy shit whoever the leader of Orlin is fuck him
