I wanted her to have flowing redhead hair, not that... Silly hat. :smith:
I did. As a matter of fact, I knew her before I heard about Justinian. I personally would have loved it if they had modelled both of them, with Justinian talking to the player but Theodora whispering in his ear before he replied. Would've made for an interesting leaderscreen.
Hmm, I must just be not well informed when it comes to history. Oh well, you learn something new every day. Also new topic to make up for the crap page king: Should they add additional leaders to the currents civs? It seems like they designed the game around 1 leader but it seems a step backwards from civ 4 along with removing those fantastic videos for building wonders.
I hope you guys know what Theodora did before she became royalty. :v:
Almost the same as Wu Zetian
I hope you guys know what Theodora did before she became royalty. :v:
Funny thing was that Theodora seduced the Emperor to remain in Constantinople during some rebellion and it was soon crushed. Technically she saved the Empire.

You can leave, but I'll stay and I'll act as Empress in your absence" which made him realise how much of a wimp he (and how much of a badass his wife) is. But yeah by all records she was quite the hottie.
I'm so disappointed that I can't play Civ V because I need a new graphics card. Do any of you have recommendations where I can get a new one?
Where do you live? International shipping is a bitch.

I am really tempted to buy Gods and Kings only for the Austrian faction. :v: I love austria. I also want an Italy kind of state, not simple romans.
ka me ha me ha what a jokester. man in a diaper shouting at you, waving his pointy stick around asking for an embassy every 10 turns.. how embarrassing!
Continuing my new game. The Celts already want my land. I basically forced them to found a religion as my Roman Judaism was spreading into their cities. Also, I found that South America is inhabited by both Maria Theresa and Catherine. Both of them seem to hate each other and immediately asked me to go to war with them.
Despite most nations being pleased with me in Civ IV, none of them'll agree to even discuss going to war with the weakest nation with whom they're all annoyed with :/ Their reason? "I just don't like you enough" Bitches, I give you free luxuries, we've been chummy for centuries, what more do you want?! Fuck it, Manhattan Project it is, then.

UPDATING! [editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] Wait, 975.7 Mb? That seems a bit small?
UPDATING! [editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] Wait, 975.7 Mb? That seems a bit small?
It doesn't have much in the way of actual models and shit. Mainly gameplay changes.

That moment when you realize the only hope for victory is nuking the living shit out of any nation better than you. Happens more often than you'd think.
>Found Buddhism >Apply every existing growth bonus >SUPER-CITY GROW
Finally managed to get a full game in today, playing as Theodora. It was strange, because six of us were on a single continent. Luckily for us, nobody was too picky about their borders and was cool with whatever. Early on, Boudicca wages war on me for no apparent reason. Luckily, I beat her off and send her running back. She later attacks again, getting beat even worse than before. A single turn after we make peace, we become friends. I decide to befriend every single other nation on our continent. Luckily for me, they all accepted, and they also declared friendships with all the other civs on our continent together. How it was was basically I was on the entire west coast of the continent, taking up it's majority. Boudicca was a good ways above me, far enough where we wouldn't have border clashes, and she also took up the western part. Pacal was to my right, slightly north of me. Gustavus Adolphus was directly to my right, taking up the middle part of the continent. Haile Selassie was to my right, directly below everyone else. Finally, Dido was taking up the far south east side of the continent. Soon enough, I find Attila. For some reason, he's angry at me and makes fun of my small army and my weak borders, (meanwhile -52 gold per turn). Anyway, he keeps bugging me about the city states he is stealing from and taunts me to do something about it. Since that is really his only source of income, I just ignore him for now. I soon learn that he has about 8 cities at this time and his military power is at 7000, while the next highest is only 2000. This worries me a bit, so I just denounce him and hope for the best. To my luck, everyone else on the continent denounces him as well. I start to scout his little continent and I notice that most of his cities are on the coast, and I can easily do a naval raid, since his seems to be nonexistent. So anyway, I build up a squad of 3 caravels and 2 frigates, (since I only had 2 iron at the time). I ask my other friends if they wanted to join in, and three of the five asked for ten turns to prepare. I used that time myself to set up and prepare my attack. After ten turns, every single civ literally wages war on Attila at the same time, even those who didn't agree to fight with me against him. I was quite the happy camper, despite knowing that pretty much every one of them would be useless and that I would be doing most of the work. Anyway, I easily take out his first city and begin to raise it. I was surprised by how much of a military he actually had. Trebuchets every other hex, and a few knights here and there. (Ethiopia declares war a turn later) Attila managed to take his city back, but I quickly took it back and razed it, which lucky, burned to the ground (this never actually did much, as he built his city back up after the war was over). After I took Shire, I went down to Grave and did the same thing, same results. My forces were struggling, and I couldn't end with peace (he wanted all my resources and cities). So I decided to leave him with that and retreat back, protecting my fellow city states. Meanwhile, William, who also had his own continent, was pretty much guarded for most of the game. Being a loner probably did something to him. Anyway, there was a fair number of turns where a war was going on, but nothing was happening. Nobody else made peace with Attila either, because his "peace treaties" were full of shit. I finally give him another shot, and successfully make peace with no bullshit. By this time, I have gotten my first spy, and I sent him straight to Attila. I got a good number of intriques from him, and a military tech I had overlooked for something more beneficial. Meanwhile, all of us on the main land kept declaring friendship. Every 30 turn cycle or whatever it was, I would scroll through every civ on our land and declare friendship, every time them accepting. Looking at the diplomacy panel, you'd see a huge chunk of green on every civ except for Attila, who was entirely red. Every civ on our mainland was friendly toward one other, and every single one denounced Attila. Meanwhile, they were all being denounced by Attila, which I'm sure other leaders would take into great consideration... Meanwhile, Haile Selassie make a huge fucking dick move and decided to convert my capital city into his shitfest Buddhism. This really pissed me off, as he did it with two other of my cities besides my capital. Apparently, I can't tell him to fuck off in the diplomacy menu so I decide to build up a great prophet and convert my cities back to Theodorism and turn his capital into Theodorism. Of course, this pissed him off, but not enough to hurt our friendship, so I decide to send my prophet over to sweden instead to use the last turn on his capital, ridding the Buddhist bullshit out of his capital, and replacing it with the mighty Theodorism (which was the major religion throughout the game, at least, for most of the city states, myself, and unfortunately, Attila). Anyway, time was moving on, Diplomacy was good (William finally turned good), and there was only one spying incident against me. Sweden took a small tech from me, which I forgave him for, and later apologized for a turn later. The new AI actually makes me smile now! Not much else happens. Just the usual denunctions from Attila, insults, etc. I always had to respond with, "you'll pay in time" option. In time, meaning nukes. I began rushing for Atomic Theory and nukes, specifically, the Atomic Bomb. By this time, I was also competing with Haile Selassie for the technological advantage, despite having more possible techs than him. I luckily beat him to the Manhattan Project and began building my atomic bombs. I had three carriers waiting to deliver them. I had 8 uranium, which meant 3 on two carriers, and two on one. I waited for the right moment, placed my carriers strategically, and launched all 8 in one turn. His entire continent was aflame. By this time, I had a superior military than the entire game, apparently (despite Attila's 18000+ military power, which I think he got rid of because he was actually making a positive amount of gold for once, 76 gold per turn, while I had 300+ gold per turn). Most of his cities (by which there were about 16 of at this time), were in the yellow by the time I ran out of nukes. I scurried back and began loading up on nuclear missiles. I spent my entire treasury to get a sub and nukes, which I saved up for this very moment, a whopping 8000 gold spent down to 200, just to get everything right. Luckily I had enough time to drop them both down, dealing massive damage and even destroying one of his cities. I was hoping to get two more to drop on his Court, but by the time I had enough money to do anything, he was back in a safe health zone. Still I did my deed, made the other civs happy, and destroyed any possible profit and happiness he'd have. While focusing on getting gold to buy nuclear missiles, I also had to focus on getting the UN started and getting a solid ten votes. I secured my place with many city states already, so I was confident I would win the vote, not to mention how many times I had helped other civs in the game. I won the vote in a landslide, gaining to extra votes in the process, winning 12-5. A few opinions on Gods&Kings now: Does anyone else feel like science takes too much time to get going? I didn't get my atom bombs until 1970. I love how war in my game was pretty much non-existent in the later stages. Attila was the only problem, and Sweden had a minor issue with Pacal, but other than that, not much happened, which was a good thing. I don't think someone should be able to send in a great prophet into your Holy City and convert it. The fact that Constantinople was no longer labeled as the Holy City for Theodorism bugged the hell out of me, and for some reason, it didn't do it for Ethiopia when I did the same thing to him. Espionage sometimes feels useless if you're in the technological lead. You should be able to snag some gold or culture from other civs too, I think. Making them more dangerous, and giving you more options on what you want to do. Combat in the later game feels ridiculously overwhelming. There are so many more units to choose from. Again, historical progression seems to be faulty, unless it was my bad playing. Other than that, I love how Gods and Kings works. It doesn't feel so much as "build army to defend, build shit and hope to win" kind of deal anymore. It feels more like a strategy game now, and many good things have happened with diplomacy. My biggest quirk though: DON'T LET THAT BUDDHIST BULLSHIT TAKE OVER MY HOLY CITY OF THEODORISM, AND LET ME BE ABLE TO TELL THEM TO FUCK OFF. Why can they tell me to piss off while I can't? Anyways, next time I'll try and take more pictures.
God I love stories like that.
Just played a full game as Atilla, spawned on a medium sized "U" shaped continent with only two others. There was a mountain range straight down the middle, with me having the entire western half to myself. It was 1500 before I met anyone, because Japan and Rome were pretty much screwing around on their half and not expanding at all, and I supposed the other civs weren't exploring much. I had no wars until the industrial period, so everything about my empire was ahead. I had the best tech, most productive cities, and double the wonders of the runner-ups. I have a few small border wars with Japan, who has now conquered Rome and feels like venturing over to my side of the continent. Eventually, I become a nuclear power, and being 10 techs ahead of the runner-up (China, with the 3rd being Japan) I became really secure. Flash forward to the late 20th century, Japan and China have caught up to me in score and I need something to do about it. I start a huge nuclear war with literally the rest of the world, nuking the Dutch so they wouldn't mess with me (I still regret it, William was a bro but I couldn't risk him conquering after I had nuked China), nuking China 3 times, and nuking Japan 6 times, two nuclear missiles and 4 atom bombs. Eventually one of them lobbed an atom bomb at one of my cities but thanks to my bomb shelter it did fuck-all. So yeah. Thats how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.
Going for a science-fueled military victory with some esponiage on King difficulty (first time moving up from Prince.), the year is 540, I'm well into the Renascence era, and my navy is destroying everything in sight, I'm getting a great scientist every 10 or so turns, and my capital is cranking out wonders that other civs haven't even researched, I think this'll be quite fun. (Playing as England.)
They need to add more diplomacy options when you catch a nation stealing tech, considering I caught the Ottoman fuckers doing it 3 times (Told him to stop, forgave then denounced) and he immediately just denounces me, hes too far away and sheltered by other nations and mountains for me to really lead a war on him so we're just stuck in this shit flinging fest now.
Not really anything to do with Civilization V, but what's the best Civ that can run on a crappy computer? I've wanted to try it but I don't know which to buy.
Civ IV should run pretty well. On a side note, the steam punk scenario is awesome.
Not really anything to do with Civilization V, but what's the best Civ that can run on a crappy computer? If anyone cared, the GK OST is in the game files. MP3's for new leaders and opening/theme music.
