But won't they be selling items that effect gameplay, not just cosmetics?
I wasn't aware of this so yes my argument is now null and void.
[editline]25th June 2011[/editline]
And I do play EvE so I have an idea of the balance scale.
fuck, I lost my EVE account.
way to go, dragonborn.
now I can't see the riot.
Too bad the same can't happen to TF2.
would solve some problems.
I think I'm going to watch that riot in-game, seems awesome :v:
tf2 doesn't rely only on a hand full of official servers.

You can shut down arena servers by having a player in each team not kill each other so the round never ends though.
This just in: Stating facts is being a dick.
Not just that, you were also being a dick a few posts up. And all those who rated me dumb are ridiculous. You don't even see the whole situation.
Also what you had said above was incorrect. You can attack in hi-sec whenver you want, so if the cops are busy he should be afraid of being attacked in the riot.
Get your facts right and all your dumb "dumb" raters.
70 fucking dollars for a visual modification to a character? Fuck that shit. I'm entirely on the rioters side. It's data ffs. Probably no more than 5mb for the model/texture and then what? Nothing. It's in the game, whoop-di-fuckin-doo. Their argument abotu $1,000 jeans (where the hell are there jeans that expensive?) is entirely invalid as they are reffering to clothes that you as a human being can wear in real life. $70 is 12 months on XBL, a weeks worth of groceries (if you shop cheap), 5 shirts and a pair of jeans.
No way in fucking hell would I pay 70 dollars for ANYTHING like that. The whole pack, with all the in-game clothes should be $30 at most all together.

Amazing read about EvE metagaming.
First game to see riots like this. EVE is fucking beast, why didn't I try it yet if you can do shit like THIS and being organised to fuck up entire game.
Reminds me of the dumb riots that were in Runescape after the wilderness and free-trading was taken away.
Alright boys, smash those space windows and flip those space cars!

from the forums it seems to have dropped to 0.4?
I never played EVE but i love how they have an actual economy and things that can be effected by ingame things.
lmao tf2 has a $100 bundle yet no one is crying over that
Love hearing about this stuff, this is why EVE is so unique. I used to play it, but my trial ran out after I got a semi-good ship that wasn't a fighter.
Hopefully where it is docked won't be destroyed.

Hardly fucks up the game really.

I bet people in the ammo market are making money.
TF2 players didn't rioted over Mann-conomy update.
Valve didn't write a newsletter saying how they're thinking about screwing over the community by turning the game into pay 2 win.
In my eyes this is like the Man-conomy update, mass bitching then everyone got over the fact YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY THE HAT'S same thing applies to clothes. In the end the idiots who spend 70$ on a virtual monocle helped CCP get more funding to make an even bigger EvE.
Except this is more like if the TF2 store sold weapons better than any other in the game that could only be obtained by paying.

I wouldn't bring your tengu there due to the risk of getting suicide ganked for Modules.
Looks like the MMO world is getting heavily hit.
News of MMO's going F2P
News of swg getting shut down
EVE riots
lol.
I never got in to eve, but I was always amazed of the crazy shit that happens in the game.

Don't worry, Guild Wars 2 and the new star wars mmo look promising.

GW2 Only.
I'm not really sure why people seem to think this happens only in EvE though. Remember the half naked Gnome uprising in WoW or the Zul Gurub (or some other troll instance) plague?
As with those two events, I'll be watching from the outside though. Always thought EvE was very interesting, and I am attracted to it quite a bit (I like the depth), but then everyone takes that shit WAY too seriously and you need too damn much time to get anywhere.

With all the hype, the new SW will end up being a second DNF deception, I tell ya.

It's ridiculous yes, but if people don't want it they can just not buy it.
That said though I'd totally join in if I played, I can't imagine a battle that large is common and it would be awesome to be a part of it.
lol at the gallente hauler and his followers

If I was one of you guys with an account, I would band up with others and use this chaos to my advantage to wreak havoc.
I bet that if someone starts causing trouble to other corps, eventually the mob mentality will kick in and everyone will want a piece of the cake.
They're not just rioting because "these overpriced items exist and it makes me mad!" but because items like this can turn the in-game economy to shit and make it so everyone starts obsessing over extremely expensive cosmetic items.
Very different game, but Global Agenda's economy is shit because every month the devs add new rare cosmetic crap that you can farm and is sold for millions on the in-game economy.
