Awesome game.
I'm going to get this today, I suck at tactical games like these but the idea of a ton of real life weapons is enough to make me want to buy it.
Damnit. Was going to make a megathread. :frown: Anyway, small playerbase yet very dedicated (about 100 on a good day). Best Rainbow Six out of all of them. Requires a great amount of teamwork to save a "hossie" and pull out with even half your 8-man squad. Ubisoft should really make more Rainbow Sixes. However, I have read that they made Vegas more mainstream for the money. At least they are honest though. Oh, and I play on SAS Proving Grounds server. Anyone else play? [editline]30th October 2010[/editline] Not really. Not worth looking for either because it's perfect the way it is. [editline]30th October 2010[/editline] Oh add me to list of players! I just started replaying a couple weeks ago. My ingame name is Razgriz66 and I only play on SAS Proving Grounds.
I play on ShadowSquad Co-op or OBSOLUTESUPERSTARS
Just bought it, anyone got any tips on how to play? I just spent an hour playing the tutorials and I'm still confused about ordering squads.
Press and hold space and a wheel thing should pop up based on what you're pointing at.
Press and hold space and a wheel thing should pop up based on what you're pointing at.
I understand that but it's the using the jkl; keys to tell squads to go is what confuses me.
I have this resting in my house somewhere. The case its self is awesome. Shame my discs are too scratched to read :( Well, disc 2 anyway.
This is cool and all, but I just can't get into it. There's a few things that annoy me. The enemy's wallhacking/aimbotting, how whoever you play as has trouble pointing and shooting without totally fucking up his aim (move mouse 2 inches, WHOA BULLETS COMING OUT AT 90 DEGREE ANGLES = no cool one burst one kill situations, you've gotta stop a second to "recover"), hostage situations are impossible to detect without playing through twice (don't know to use flashbangs because you don't want to alert the enemy and you don't know where the hostages are), etc etc. The map doesn't work for me either. It doesn't give a very good view of what the battlefield will look like. I know that wouldn't be realistic, but I can't use it to coordinate two to three teams at the same time. It frustrates me, in short.
I have this, never really played it though, my dad bought it for me. Used to play the ones before like fuck and I thought I'd give this one a try too. So this thread made me install Raven Shield, hope I see some of you online.
Also, the AI seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes it's ridiculously good (AI enemy camping me and shooting me the instant a pixel of them appears on my screen) and other times terrible (basically whenever a teammate of mine dies, AKA every mission).
Getting through an operation without anyone dieing is so satisfying.

If I can shoot on the move with an M4 in this game, so can you. Also use semi-auto and fire in double taps. 3. Hostage situations are easy. Read the briefing, make a plan, execute that plan. Use gas and flashbangs. What's the problem?

My teammates also tend to get shot while trying to throw grenades through doors. No biggy, I'll just do it myself, but very annoying compared to SWAT 4's which IIRC do it just fine.

I've done HR missions without the use of silencers either, and as along as I've been fast and efficient, it's gone well. Use gas for larger rooms. Yeah teammate AI is kinda dodgy depending on map and location. Personally I played with people on online coop more often, it's so much more satisfying.
I just slowly make my way towards the hostage room with my buddies, wait outside the door for the other team, the other team flashes & after the flash we gas and we run in and rescue them. Works mostly on maps built into the game, but possible with custom maps.
I'm trying to join MP servers but apparently they're not running 1.6. Anyone have any idea what most MP servers are running? I assumed they'd be on the latest....
the best way to take care of hostage missions is to flashbang or smoke your way in unless you want to cheap it and use tear gas if you use smoke and stand on it, you can see through it and the tangos won't be able to spot you, but your best bet is to take out the guy closest to the hostage -- he'll be the one that will blow their brains out [editline]31st October 2010[/editline] also if you guys want a good co-op server, do the SAS co-op. they mostly only play bomb defusal/hostage rescue so it takes a bit of thinking as opposed to terrorist hunts that are just casual as hell
Heartbeat sensors are your friends as long as the enemies don't have heartbeat pucks

Also add me Pillz to the OP.
Anyone else play on SAS Proving Grounds (COOP)?
Most MP servers are latest. Did you make an Ubisoft account?
Is there some sort of lobby pre-game or something? I can't get into any of them. I'm just using my old account.
Heartbeat sensors are your friends as long as the enemies don't have heartbeat pucks
Those things always took away all excitement when playing terrorist hunt. That's probably why most servers have them and the unrealistic smoke grenades disabled.
best in the series by far
By the way for those of you who are interested in playing in realism orientated coops like the SAS clan guys do, a great resource for CQB/room clearing tactics/procedures is www.cqb-team.com It has everything from field manuals (like the ranger handbook) to intricate diagrams and even a tactical plan builder. Fairly unbiased too, in regards to American/British methods vs European methods. Some of the methods used by German Police teams are downright retarded though.
This game had a really great multiplayer.
i dunno if it's the best but it is a highlight of the old red storm camp - i think the old rainbow six + urban ops is just a tad better i used to play a lot of single man vs. tangos games or pistols only made for a lot of challenges should be fairly easily to make it look better since it's an unreal tournament engine game the addons also were very good... the iron wrath addon was excellent
My loadouts: Casual Terrorist Hunt: L85A1 w/ silencer MK23 Gas Mask Flashbangs/Frags Serious terrorist hunt M4 w/ silencer MK23 w/ silencer Gas Mask Flashbang Hostage Rescue: MP5A4/UMP45 w/ silencer 92fs w/ silencer Gas Mask Flashbang gas mask ftw
For some reason when I try to log in to UBI.com the game just freezes for a bit. When it unfreezes I am still at the log in screen
