Bloody loved this game, but the expansions were of poor quality.
Two questions:
Can anyone play this game on multiplayer with a 64-bit OS? And does anyone play/use Athena Sword, and how much?

I love the TMP, FNC, Uzi, and P90. Well, all of the guns are pretty nice.
Everybody uses the L85 now

More like MP5SSD with scope. Still top weapon.
[editline]1st November 2010[/editline]
Always the top weapon.
I bought this on steam just now but I'm getting an error whenever the introduction ends.
[code]OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) (I'm using Windows 7 x64, not XP)
CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2400 MHz with 1023MB RAM (Q6000, 4GB RAM)
Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 (6089)
General protection fault!
History: UGameEngine::Draw <- UWindowsViewport::Repaint <- UWindowsClient::Tick <- ClientTick <- UGameEngine::Tick <- UpdateWorld <- MainLoop[/code]
Anyone know what the problem is? I tried googling but the only answer I've found was to update my drivers. I can launch Athena Sword and it works but Gold Edition gets that error.
I have no idea, verify cache files?

I had the same problem with Rainbow Six 3: Gold steam version on Windows 7 (32-bit). Raven shield crashes on startup but Athena Sword works fine so here is the fix that worked for me, hopefully it will work for you too.
first, verify the integrity of the game cache. right click on the game and go to properties, click on the local files tab, and click "Verify integrity of game cache...". Steam will re-download any files damaged when the game crashed.
Run Athena sword. Go to options, custom game and select Raven-shield from the list. Click activate to switch to raven shield.
Also, turning on AA in the graphics driver will cause cutscenes to not play correctly. The game may work fine and look prettier tho so it is up to you.[/quote]
Found this post on the steam forums, not sure if it will work but it's worth a try.
i got this game because it looked like counter strike
Well I found that I can run the game through Athena Sword by going to the options menu. It works fine when I switch from there but I can't launch from the regular .exe
Oh well
the mp5sd5 is the best weapon in the game

Yeah that's the fix I found. Thanks.
I used to have this game, but I was too stupid to work out how to really play it properly. I still loved it though. I might buy it on steam for old times sake.
On the subject of tactical FPSs, why the fuck is SWAT 4 not on steam?
[QUOTE=abcpea2;25794939]the mp5sd5 is the best weapon in the game[/QUOTE]
No it's unbalanced as fuck.
Title of best all round weapon in game belongs to the MP5A4.
I loved that game!
I was always terrible, because i liked picking the "fuck yeah!" guns, instead of the practical ones.
So i was trying to clear a room with hostages, while spraying everyone with the RPK.

Holy shit.
10 Bucks for Gold!
I'm all over this!

Goddamnit.
It won't get in my cart :(
I was usually the guy with the MP5 because it was fun to use it.
MP5SD + acog is the primary weapon of choice for co-op servers for the serious guys. The reason it's the weapon of choice is because, unlike the l85 and g36 which have great accuracy, the reduced accuracy of the mp5 doesn't mean that the accuracy is actually reduced.
The truth is, with the mp5 and other inaccurate SMGs, anything that is under 50m that is in your crosshairs WILL take the bullet. long story short it requires less capability to put the target smack-dab in the center of your crosshairs to hit them, whereas you have to be a perfect shot with the l85 to get a kill.
so, if you are like me and your primary consists of an MP5SD without a scope, UMP45 with silencer, or MP5A2/10 with silencer, your shots will more than likely ALWAYS hit their destined target at even most of the longest ranges in cqb/co-op missions.
less time required to aim + more likeliness to hit your target with a double-tap = much more effecient quick movement teamplay. Most SAS guys take a full 10 minutes to beat a map with eight operators whereas only four operators armed with silenced SMGs without acogs can secure hostages and return to the rally point in maybe two minutes tops. flashbangs are conserved for chokepoints and hostage rooms.
i could solo the snowy village map on elite with 40 terrorists, using the mp5sd5
oh and don't get me wrong i'd go with a scope anyway cause if you do need it then you have it but i'm too good for scopes
Mind you the SAS guys are playing in a realistic manner and not exploiting that is is, infact, a game, hence why they'd take longer.
Last time I played, they said things like
"TARGET AUDIBLE"
etc
Oh god I just remembered the 10mm mp5 gun thing. The sound that thing made unsilenced was so badass I just had to take it, even if there were better options.
why does the ai flucuate from shooting enemies through doors without seeing them to getting confused in a doorway and having a whole squad die

i never said that we aren't
the problem with the sas squad guys is that they take it SUPER SLOW. like, more slowly than it needs to be. they all use their acogs and sniper rifles etc and it's just really annoying. i appreciate their efforts but it's really not that great, especially since the maps don't change until the mission is finally beat. sometimes i go on the server and they have 150 tries at it.
i was the best
Anyone else try getting it on Steam?
No luck here.

Awesome.
10 dollars, and i'm on my way to awesomeness.

Truth be told I've never actually played with them, but watching their videos they seem to be pretty efficient speed wise. They were room clearing like bosses, haven't seen them on more open maps however. Are we talking about the same clan?
Anyone got links to SAS videos?
Yeah hang on

There's a bunch more on youtube, like them playing in actual missions, which is pretty badass looking with multiple teams.
[editline]2nd November 2010[/editline]
bitches are actually a bit slow in those examples. First two men clearing the hard/danger corners need to practically enter at the same time. Other than that it looks good.
Wait, hold the fucking phone. Is this the game where you went to that holiday house and you had to kill all the guys? Bad description but it was surrounded by jungle, and it had a pool room and a pool table and there was a guy (or 2) sitting outside at the tables?
[editline]2nd November 2010[/editline]
Oh oh oh, and where you had to kill all the guys in that Japanese high rise apartment?
