Hey,
Well as of 23rd of June team fortress 2 has been free to play. As a dedicated buyer who bought the game on release date for full release date price Im a seriously pissed. The game i payed full price for is now completely free. What do you get valve?
No Special Hat as a dedicated buyer?
No Refund for the price I payed?
No Respect for having bought it on release?.
Valve. You ran team fortress 2 repeatly into the ground. With your shitty attempts to impress me.Hats? Hopeless custom crap?. You have just lost alot of my respect.
Please share your thoughts on the matter Fellow facepunchers.
May the kids of steam download your game and spam our servers with there useless mic spam.
Today... Is the death of team fortress 2.. What is left of it.
Oh no, valve has lost the respect of an entitled whiny fuck, it's gonna go bankrupt!
Shut your trap, the game has been released 4 years ago, your money was well worth it, and you've got no reason to whine, it doesn't please you anymore? Quit playing it, simple as that, don't try making it sound like it's a big deal just because it's you, no one care and you're just trying to grab attention. How many games have you bought which you don't play anymore already? Probably more than just TF2, and it's not a problem.
You don't like the updates that added new stuff or how it became free to play? Tough, no one care, no need for such a shitty thread.
Also, it's high time you learn to make a thread in the proper subforum, though this one belongs in the useless threads section, the content it's about should be under team fortress 2.
Yeah, I agree, now not only am I out $20.00, TF2 will become infested with hackers and little kids who will spam chat with stupid shit.
implying there werent any little kids who spam the chat with some stupid shit before it went f2p
i don't care that it's f2p now, i care that we got such a shitty hat as compensation.
OH nONON IGOT SHITTy ingAME VIRTUAl ITEm BECause I BOUGHT A GaamE 4 years ago!!111
VAvlev is f ucking ungrateful!111
The free to play is if anything. Positive, free kills for awhile until they all either go back to what they were playing before. Or become a part of the normal community. Everyone wins. No need to feel entitled to even better treatment from Valve, if they did that, they would go bankrupt.
Personally I was considering buying TF2 before it became free- glad I didn't now!
I have nearly 3000 hours clocked in TF2.
Almost a 3rd of a year of my life I've spent playing TF2, and I only came in at the Sniper/Spy update. I'm GLAD we have more players, it means more people to play with and get interested in the game.
Plus I can feel superior to those poor Irishman I trample.
I have only one problem with TF2 being free... Hackers.
Basically, VAC bans players who cheat, right? Previously they would have had to buy the game again on a new account. Here, they just make a new account and simply hack away till they are banned once more.

For the umpteenth time, Valve has already stated that they've considered this and have planned for it, how they've planned to deal with it is unknown as of this time.

Nothing to stop people changing their ip.

Again, I don't know what you are so afraid of, now it's been 4 days and no hackers on the horizon.
I've heard many complaints of aimbotting.

Most likely from them :v:

And you'd think that with the replay system, it will be easier to catch and show to everyone who is hacking. Just record and send to youtube.
You get a promo hat, trading and crafting privilages, double the backpack size, cosmetics, and oh yeah and years of free content and amazingly fun gameplay for the cost of the average mappack nowadays.
Exactly. People who whine do not appreciate what Valve has done.
Releasing more content than most other similar games will ever see.
I think its worse that nowdays publishers charge £40 for a game, then charge another £15 for a small map pack after its release (I'm looking at you call of duty) and everyones fine with it and no-one gets butthurt.
And people actually pay for the dlc too.
I bought it last year and have 415 hours :geno:...
I have +900 :) and I never really started playing til' last late August (Last Year) yet I bought the Orange box in April(Last Year)
A whole thread dedicated to this kind of bitching? How surprising. Some of you are so self-centered.

Arma 2 = "Cool, thanks Bohemia Interactive!"
TF2 = "What the fuck? Fuck you Valve."
I still bought Arma 2 Combined Ops on the day it became free :)
Valve fans are the biggest whiners in the history of Gaming.

You've never played a game on xbox live, then.
In all honesty, I don't see what is wrong with making TF2 a free to play game.
More people who don't have the money to buy the game get access to it and people with noone that owns the game nearby can finally try it out.
The point is, the company wouldnt exist without dedicated buyers who have bought the games when they came out, then people who dont support the company at all can come and leech their games for free.
I think this fits OP better then my own words can describe. The Wahmbulance is not enough.

Wow. Seriously? Was this needed at any point?

With no trade, no hat drops, limited backpack, limited drop rate and they can upgrade to a premium status by buying something that will probably be worth 10$ or something....they aren't leeching them that bad. And besides, that's what Valve wanted, to have more people play the game for free. So how is this leeching?
All arguments that this is a bad idea on Valve's part are based on faulty logic, so far.
this thread has been going for 6 days and I still can't figure out what does the title means.

OP thinks we deserve much more than a hat for purchasing Team Fortress 2 before the day it became free.
I feel bad for whoever bought it the day before it became free.
I feel bad for whoever bought it the day before it became free.
That wouldn't have been possible, remember that Valve made a "free week" of TF2 before actually announcing that it was free to play.
Okay, the day before free week then. Picky picky picky
