Wow I'm so fucking excited, better delay my draft date.
Oh no, it's the best stealth system I've played in years, the whole cover mechanic, diving at the perfect moment, sneaking round the back, causing distractions is sublime. Apart from that one part, I spent the entire leak using stealth and never caused a single alarm. Wasn't really requiring lots of reloads either. It was challenging, but more of a "patient waiting for that golden opportunity" challenge than "OH GOD THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE I NEED TO RELOAD A HUNDRED TIMES"
Sounds like Hitman. :v:
I want this to be exactly like deus ex 1 soooo welp
It's harder than Deus Ex 1
The stealth doesn't really play like anything. The closest I could say is a mix between metal gear solid and splinter cell, but it's really not. The cover based thing works really well because there's suitable routes and cover EVERYWHERE.
I meant the whole golden opportunities thing.
Like I said,i'm gonna replay it as "badass" mode, getting all the cool augs like busting through walls and spraying claymores everywhere and shit. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] Oh that completely. It's all about waiting for the perfect gap in the enemy's patrol to move up, or diving from cover to cover when they look away for a second. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] Incidentally, it alt-tabs instantly and perfectly. Load times are very long, but that's something that will probably change as the game gets closer to release.
Stop posting here you're making me very wet.

I'm playing DX with Shifter and the first corpse you encounter at Liberty has a Sword on it. I sure as hell don't remember that from my other shifter play throughs. Going to play DXHR but only up to the end of the Sarif warehouse mission I think. At this point I just want to make sure I can run it and get a decent feel for it. I'll consider it a demo.
I'm so worried about how my laptop will run this game, so fucking worried.
Also new e3 trailer. Ouch with the 1080 neck snap. From the sound of it, this end-game boss thing doesn't necessarily sound bad. It just needs more options to approach it from, say, disabling it, forcing it to drop somewhere else etc.
This game beats my expectations. And this is an unfinished version too: I'm totally glad I bought it. Also I agree on most of MasterG's comments. My version runs like a charm, it did crash once though but that's probably going to be fixed anyway. I do dislike the fact that the graphical options are a little bit limited (for DX9).
Yeah just timed a few loading screens, the average is about 30 seconds. But this will probably change as it gets optimized, so I wouldn't pay much attention.
Oh that's excellent then.
There's a lot of references to the earlier games too. I'll tag em in case you want them to stay hidden. They're just minor little reference things, no major plot spoilers or anything. [sp]First door code is 0451[/sp] [sp]If you go into the women's bathroom, Pritchard reprimands you for it[/sp] [sp]You get to choose long/short range weapon and lethal/non-lethal just before the first mission[/sp]
This has been known since the early previews.

If this doesnt beats CoD MW3 in ANY way (award related or whatever), I'm gonna bomb a random city in the world. Looks like... I can't even explain it. Looks like the offspring of a hugely anticipated movie that costed a billion to make and a game thats been in development for 10 years just to think of a genius plot. In short, it looks like MGS4 with less "bullshit" (I don't say bullshit as a bad thing, I just say it as the scy fi you see in mgs is well applied to Deus Ex)... Fuck I can't put it in short words either. Its GOTY. 'Nuff said. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
Also new e3 trailer. Ouch with the 1080 neck snap. it's basically mgs except without feature-length cutscenes
That's weird. MGS4 without all the bullshit is how I thought this game would be like.
[sp]If you go into the women's bathroom, Pritchard reprimands you for it[/sp]
[sp]"Now Adam, you've gone through many physical changes throughout your augmentation process but you're not a woman. Stay out of the women's restroom."[/sp]
How do you kill Barrett ? I've died 3 times trying to kill him.Good damn nade spammer.
Fantastic game.
I'm gonna bomb a random city in the world.
Goodbye Kapiri Mposhi ;_;
I really am considering buying this.
Spoiler
Can you please spoiler tag that? I know it's not much but I don't want a mod to come in here and tell us to shut up about this. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] Wow ok, never mind.
After playing for about 45 minutes, up to the first chance for a fire fight, I have to say I'm impressed. I loved the first Deus Ex, hated the second one. One reason was the second one had a very claustrophobic, confining feel to the levels as compared to the original. This one, even so early on, has a bigger feel. I can see this becoming epic after a while, while I don't think the second one ever approached an epic feel. One nitpick is I see what some people mean about the lack of interactivity. There are a lot of objects everywhere, most of them things you'd think you can interact with. But they are just there for show. I'm not asking for much, it's just that if there is a computer on a desk, I should at least be able to hit the power switch or something. Even if it isn't part of the gameplay, even if it doesn't provide clues or whatever, I should be able to do a basic interaction. For instance, I ran into some drinking faucets and click on one and the water started flowing. That's how to do it! It's a little thing but it brings the game world to life.
Anyone knows a guy currently playing the thing that relies on stealth a lot? I just finished watching someone that used stealth in the sense he shot guy with tranq darts as long as he could away with it, then dull cover-based combat began. Ideally someone that also tries stuff out like dragging a knocked-out guy to a security panel that requires fingerprints. Judging from that stream, DX3 looked average to be frank. But with pretty cyberpunk elements. Can anyone give me a better impression? Couldn't play the leak myslef even if I wanted to right because I'm forced to use a laptop that sometimes even has problems with opening browsertabs... :v:
anyone know if there are any livestreams of this up?
YouTube version of trailer:
1:25, is that Bob Page right there? Yeah I think that's Bob fucking Page right there. Easily the most annoying guy in DE.
He has the eye thing above his left eye. It is. That motherfucker, and we won't be able to kill him either :argh:
I have just a minor issue with it. Everything looks like stereoscopic 3d or whatever is turned on, although the option for it is redded out. I can adjust the intensity of it though in the menu, although turning it all the way down the effect is still noticeable and it makes it really difficult to read the computers and whatnot. Anybody experience this/have a fix for it?
Just watched a bit of gameplay, and a remix of the UNATCO music plays in the sarif industries building :haw:
