I had no idea it was made of monitors when I first looked at it.
My first thoughts were, "Holy shit Pritchard is building a stargate."
Those who've read Icarus Effect, does it mention anything about Anna as well as Gunther? Or does it lightly touch on it?

Nope, no Anna, just Gunther.
Nope, no Anna, just Gunther.
And so the mystery continues.
Bad Boogaloo
Spoilers, come on man.

(very minor non-plot revealing spoilers about Icarus Effect)
[sp]He actually plays a pretty major role in the novel, not to the level of main character but "very active secondary character". I'd be surprised if he didn't show up in HR later on in the game.[/sp]

Now I gotta get Icarus Effect. I'd still like to know more about Anna. I hope she wasn;t overshadowed/forgotten, that'd be a huge buzz kill.

[sp]You did read on didn't you? He gets majorly fucked up and they said it would take ages to repair him. A lot more than 6 months certainly, given the amount of augs he has by DX.
One thing I loved about Gunther being there is it explains perfectly why he was obsessed with getting more augs. He grew up in an age where they were portrayed as perfection.[/sp]

[sp] Does he mention his desire for a Skulgun?[/sp] :v:

Old CRTs
are the FUTURE
Old CRTs

Huh. Its a stretch, but why do I get the feeling the "Blade of Shintaro" is a reference to Akikusa Shintaro, a main character for The Samurai? Maybe I'm just thinking too hard. :v:
[sp] Does he mention his desire for a Skulgun?[/sp] :v:
[sp]It didn't dawn on him at that point unfortunately.[/sp]
[sp]But his taste for Orange Soda was present.[/sp]
[sp]It didn't dawn on him at that point unfortunately.[/sp]
[sp]Damn. One more thing. Did his augments affect his intelligence or was his typing skills due to his fat fingers? Or was he just not very good at the english language?[/sp]
[sp]But his taste for Orange Soda was present.[/sp]
[sp] I VANTED ORANGE! ITS DA MAINTENANCE MAN, HE DOES IT ON PURPOSE! [/sp]
[sp]Damn. One more thing. Did his augments affect his intelligence or was his typing skills due to his fat fingers? Or was he just not very good at the english language?[/sp]
[sp]Shit at typing I assume. He had one aug arm in the book and his accent was thick as ever so I assume he just can't type.[/sp]

[sp] Huh. When does Icarus Effect take place? Gunther has two in the first Deus Ex. Unless that was artist oversight by making both sides of him the same. [/sp]
screw you guys, now I want to buy the book so I can click the spoilers
screw you guys, now I want to buy the book so I can click the spoilers
If it makes you feel better, I've not read it either. Just going on hearsay and things I hope are in the book, as well as clarification. :v:

[sp]He only has one in the book.[/sp]
[sp]He also drinks orange soda at his first appearance.[/sp]
:v:
So I'm not too familiar with the other games, but after playing the beta for a bit how does [sp]Page go from being an anti aug douche to promoting augs and wanting to merge with an AI?[/sp]

[sp]He's not so much anti-aug as wanting to keep augs only for the rich and powerful. He'll also just support anything that makes him more powerful.[/sp]

[sp] Damn rich people. They're still jerks, even in the future! [/sp]

Something happens to Gunther resulting in him requiring extensive augmentation, seeing as he's no Jensen it would take him ages to recover correctly, not to mention practically all of his body is replaced by DX which means it would take forever for him to be active again..
Reading through blacks is so much fun, specially when I don't understand shit.
Forgive me if this has been said before but is there a way to fix the gamma correction in the beta? Everything looks washed over with a tint of grey.
Anyone? It's really annoying having everything washed over with a grey tint.

Never mind, it was DX11 that was doing that.
[sp]You did read on didn't you? He gets majorly fucked up and they said it would take ages to repair him. A lot more than 6 months certainly, given the amount of augs he has by DX.

[sp]Yeah but the thing is Jensen supposidly gets major fucked up too on the attack and essentually makes a full super-human recovery in 6 months, from being non augmented to augmented.
I don't see why its not possible for Gunther to get fixed up in 6months as well, especially since he was already augmented to hell so its just a matter of replacing parts for him.
The story in HR could also jump ahead in time at some point later on in the game too. I dunno, I just think I'd be really surprised to not see gunther play a role in the game considering he had a strong role in the book.[/sp]

[sp]In the beta there are hints in the story that say that Jensen is able to adapt to the augs much more quickly than normal people.[/sp]

[sp]Icarus Effect takes place during the same time the events at the beginning of HR takes place, right before Sarif is attacked. As a matter of fact, the attack itself is mentioned halfway through the book, but it isn't the highlight.
The 6months later that happen after the attack in the game, is past the book's close, however. It basically sets up the scene for HR.[/sp]

(icarus effect spoilers, which could also spoil the game)
[sp]Well I wouldn't consider the Tyrants as normal people either, considering they are supposed to be the best of the best in augmented technology and training. Gunther was apart of that before he gets seriously damaged at the end of Icarus Effect. ([/sp]
So many black bars, what is this, the CIA Library?
So many black bars, what is this, the CIA Library?
No, a Deus Ex thread.

[sp]Well he's more biologically adapted, and it's implied he's unique, so I dunno.[/sp]
