Deus Ex: Human Revolution Megathread V2 - Electronic Old Men Running The World
Its not evolution, it doesn't carry over to the next generation. Evolution is a slow process over many many generations, augmentation is a temporary improvement.
Its not controlled evolution unless they modify the reproductive genes, and that would only affect your children, so what Deus Ex 3 portrays is temporary improvement of body functions through electronics.

The whole unnatural thing is also often used in the "Gays are evil and sinners and shit" discussion, which quite frankly I'm reminded of when I think of Augmentation, the argumentation is just as dumb, and just as naive.
Kinda like when your grandma tells you mcdonals food is evil because its full of "chemistry".
[editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
Not that I'm encouraging eating at McDonalds.
It is evolution in a way that people uncovered/found a way to augment themselves, not natural organic evolution. And it is kinda controlled evolution when you control what baby/adult get's augmented.
I wouldn't call them temporary and obviously not 'improvement', improvement sounds like you can do something a little bit better, which is untrue.
Not defending a religion or anything like that, just having my own opinion and like to hear other opinions as well.
Religion has declined like crazy in the last 2000 years, and in most European countries, its almost gone. Officially its still there, but the majority of the population, especially in scandinavian countries, is atheist.
So it seems likely that sooner or later, Religion will just vanish.
[editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
The thing with "natural" and "unnatural" is that everything that exists is inherently natural, there is nothing unnatural. And if there were, it'd be god.
I still can't see it gone in 16 years though, at least in the united states. Atheism is growing, but it's still a minority compared to Christianity here. It would make sense for there to still be plenty of people in Detroit who still adhere to a faith by then.
Antibiotics is not the same thing as getting your leg blown off due to your own stupidity and buying a new one.
And since when whatever humans invented weren't used in conflicts and destruction?
I had no idea that the only way to lose your leg was in a war.
The thing with "natural" and "unnatural" is that everything that exists is inherently natural, there is nothing unnatural. And if there were, it'd be god.
The point is that natural is something that was done without human 'intervention', if I can phrase it like that. Not really a good word but can't find something better.
Unnatural on the other hand is something that is engineered by humans. I mean, if you drop a human and lion in a cage, chances are, lion will win. Now if you do the same with AUGed human, chances are, human will win :v:
So in this regard, you're ruining the nature's balance. Or some might say you're setting a new balance. Depends on your point of view.
I had no idea that the only way to lose your leg was in a war.
Was just an example. Sure if you were hit by a drunk driver, it's a necessary augmentation, but I'm just saying that natural selection ain't a bad logic.
The point is that natural is something that was done without human 'intervention', if I can phrase it like that. Not really a good word but can't find something better.
well, just because you use your mind to create something new it doesn't mean that it's unnatural, nor does it make you a god. animals build stuff too.
something complex doesn't imply a creator, it implies evolution.
"so what is tampering with the natural order" at all, if not the causality of nature itself?
self-consistent automated evolution.
And then there's all sorts of titanium screws reinforcing bones and pacemakers and shit. Those are augmentations, too. Should they be banned?

So Humans are not natural in your opinion? Because if they are, how can anything done by us be unnatural? Are you one of those people who consider humans somehow inherently superior to animals, or not animals at all? Because if you do, you're fucking deluded.
Oh and I'd say augmentations make you do things a little bit better. How is having a mechanical arm 10 times stronger than your own not making you better at, lets say, weightlifting or fighting?
And then there's all sorts of titanium screws reinforcing bones and pacemakers and shit. Those are augmentations, too. Should they be banned?
they don't make you better or desecrate your body, which is the main point of the purity first punks.
The only thing I hate is that if you let go of the cover button, you'll sometimes be far off from the cover and the enemy will spot you.
Use toggle cover instead of hold.
You get different packs depending on who you order from. Doesn't mean they're not going to show up later in game which has been implied before.
In fact, you can find the silenced sniper in Detroit. It's in the level 5 storage area by the basketball court.
On the topic of the storage area, a tip for anyone that doesn't want to get killed by deadly gas [sp]shoot the sensor emitters[/sp]. Its also locked with a level 5 lock, but you won't get across that unless you hack it or buy an AUD.
Toggle cover is a godsend since I bound the cover key to Q (although I could use mouse 4 or 5 but I like the cover key to be on the keyboard)
I tried that too because I wanted to have Ironsights on RMB, but I couldn't get used to it so I was like Fuck Ironsights and used default controls.

Just some Panchaea screens from the recent trailer.
Mirrored the first one so you can read Adam's profile better.

I'm not saying you shouldn't use mind, I'm just saying it's unnatural if it's engineered by humans. You're missing a point, I'm not saying it's bad or good, I'm just trying to define what's natural and what's not. Obviously you could consider everything natural since it all comes from our planet, but then what's the point of 'unnatural' word?
Tampering with natural order sure is causality of nature, but if you look at it, entire species are extinct because of nature and natural selection. So it really is just defining anything that's done by nature is natural and everything else unnatural.
And then there's all sorts of titanium screws reinforcing bones and pacemakers and shit. Those are augmentations, too. Should they be banned?
I'd say they are half-augmentations. They help you gain back lost functionality but not improve beyond what you could do. That Sarif Industries site has a good trailer. Those don't look like simple screws :v:

Where did I say human are unnatural? Reproductive system wasn't made by humans so using it is perfectly fine. I don't get your point. No need to jump to conclusions, I'm pretty open minded to everything and have multitude of beliefs.

I applied some magic sauce on it.
Not really, just sharpen :v:
http://www.deusex.com/preorder
The AUD, Remote Explosives, Silenced sniper, double barrel shotgun and grenade launcher are all retailer specific preorder exclusives.
Amazon for the shotgun and sniper, gamestop for AUD, grenade launcher and remote explosives.
Unless you live outside the US, where Amazon and most retailers get the AUD, grenade launcher and remote explosives, but practically nowhere sells the shotgun and sniper.
Or you can get everything with Augmented/Collector's Edition.
Is it possible to get past proximity mines without having to shoot them, haven't seen any EMP grenades yet
Is it possible to get past proximity mines without having to shoot them, haven't seen any EMP grenades yet
I found 2.
Is it possible to get past proximity mines without having to shoot them, haven't seen any EMP grenades yet
unfortunately I think the first time you see an EMP grenade is on the mission in which you investigate the neural hub.
I tried to approach the wall mines during the time they didn't glow red. Sometimes it worked. Is there a secondary slower crouch as in Stalker?
I found a locker room in the city, but it is full of lasers, but it is full of weapons. What should I do?

Put a pack of gel-explosive in it and remote detonate those lasers or buy an AUD and hack the terminal.
Oh, I also keep finding bottles with the ಠ_ಠ face on.
Can someone give me a link to the new trailer? I can't find it.

have fun
I tried to approach the wall mines during the time they didn't glow red. Sometimes it worked. Is there a secondary slower crouch as in Stalker?
To disarm proximity mines, you have to crouch and hold the walk button (Ctrl by default I think) and then walk up to them and use them.
To disarm proximity mines, you have to crouch and hold the walk button (Ctrl by default I think) and then walk up to them and use them.
cool thanks will have to rebind it as I had no use for it before
To disarm proximity mines, you have to crouch and hold the walk button (Ctrl by default I think) and then walk up to them and use them.
thanks I forgot how to slow crouch :ohdear:
[editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
now that I can collect them properly I want to use wall mines like in the trailer: walk up a breakable wall and blow it up, then take care of the confused enemies in the next room. or just grab em through the wall like a complete nut.

Or just throw a fucking barrel.
