Spam the use key on a wall. The character makes the sound as fast as you push it. There are other games as well, but I believe Doom is the first. I don't think Wolfenstein had a sound for it.
I'm disappointed with the augmentation system- they're just 'level up' rewards purchased through a menu, and as far as I can tell, everything's intercompatible, so you don't need to choose one aug or another.
I'm hoping for a jump that makes a distinctive "Hu!" when you jump.
It does occasionally.
This game looks amazing, but the first deus-ex did NOT hold up. I tried playing it for the first time in 2009, and it was terrible. I don't know why everybody creams their pants over the original. Deserved it's praise back then probably, but now it's overrated.
You didn't even bother trying to finish the first mission did you? You ran in expecting to be all badass and probably had your ass handed to you before going "FUCK YOU" and shutting it off.
He got to Liberty Island and hit the big mech with a knife and got shot to hell, "Fuck this! This game sucks ass!"

Forgot how fun it was.

And no, I got around to the fifth mission and I just couldn't force myself to play it anymore. The gameplay is just so stale and boring. And they have the same death animations, same death sounds, horrible voice acting, terrible UI. It just doesn't hold up anymore, I can appreciate the amount of detail put into the game, and how amazing this was back then probably though. I am looking forward to the new one though, it looks amazing. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
If you don't like the first, you probably won't like this one as well. Just the gameplay of the first one didn't cut it for me. It was too dated and I played the game too late, so I get no nostalgia boost.
Oh, so you're complaining about the pirated leak copy that you got for free then?
What? No, I bought it off steam on sale. How does pirating the game make the game less fun?
The leak is just the Press preview version. It's not the full game, it's like 30%. It is an early build, aka not a finished product. Also, most of the people won't even know how to run it or use it so I think we're safe from spoilers.
Hopefully I get my money and can pre-order this next week.
Also, most of the people won't even know how to run it or use it so I think we're safe from spoilers.
Surely not, it's google-search level difficult. ie not if you don't huff petrol
I've been playing the leak and it's so much fun just to sneak around and hide bodies in bathroom stalls and janitor closets. (Weird I know) I am definitely buying this. [editline]31st May 2011[/editline] So stop reprimanding people who downloaded it. It's actually seems to be very good advertisement IMO.

I can understand why, I already saw a ton of people who tried the preview build, liked it a lot, and bought the game. It definitely will boost sales.
Yeah, I'd only reprimand people if it was the full game like Crysis 2. Still not downloading though, I'd rather the whole thing once it comes out. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
Eidos actually allows leak deiscussion on the forums as long as there is no spoilers/screenshots.
Really? That is interesting move on their part. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] I know I'm late, but I like how the default year for Age check on the website is '2027' lol
I've been playing the leak and it's so much fun just to sneak around and hide bodies in bathroom stalls and janitor closets. (Weird I know)
Fun tip: You move about 30-50% faster if you hold w and one of the strafe buttons at the same time, and run diagonally. Last game I remember to do that particular silliness was System Shock 2 (1999). I'm rather ambivalent towards this new game. I like many things about it, but the augmentation system is a real letdown and the maps seem much more restricted and linear than in the original game. Edit: Anyone else think the player character sounds like Walton Simons?

They aren't allowing people to make a bunch of threads about it etc. but you can freely discuss it in The Hive chat thread.
Read something on another website that was a 4 page-long discussion about this, most of it being how health regeneration will ruin the game, even if it's optional. It seems people have forgotten that there was optional health regeneration in the original Deus Ex.
It seems people have forgotten that there was optional health regeneration in the original Deus Ex.
As an augmentation, which cost energy, and was slow as hell. So not really the same thing at all.
I played through Deus Ex for my first time last year. I thought it was great, the only problem I had with it was waiting to get an accurate shot
I played through Deus Ex for my first time last year. Funfact: Sniper shots will always have 100% accuracy without the scope on. Helped me a lot before Paris. :eng101:
Did I miss the chance to use :sigh: [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
As an augmentation, which cost energy, and was slow as hell. So not really the same thing at all.
It's slow and only partial in HR
I don't get why people are whining about the health regen. Not like the health regen aug made the game any easier in DE. Maybe if you played Normal/Easy, sure.
I suppose Health Regen automatically makes it casual or something. :smith:
I suppose Health Regen automatically makes it casual or something. :smith:
Casual? Aw man, now the game is ruined. :smith:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution truly deserves the name Deus Ex They managed to keep the spirit of Deus Ex alive while still upgrading it to modern standards. All changes they've made to the gameplay are fun and useful. It's damn good.
The Icarus Effect basically spells it out for you. Besides, if you didn't guess that the Illuminati would be in a Deus Ex game then you aren't intelligent enough to be playing the game. :colbert:
I was referring to the bit about the acid. I didn't know about that. Plus, I haven't read that book. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
I'm disappointed with the augmentation system- they're just 'level up' rewards purchased through a menu, and as far as I can tell, everything's intercompatible, so you don't need to choose one aug or another.
I would rather have that than be forced to make a choice between two augs - besides, it's not like you can have them all.
Just completed the first real mission (somewhat) stealthily and completely nonlethally (on the hardest difficulty). Which is my only real option since it feels like there's something wrong with the aiming and I can't hit shit with normal weapons. So far, it's good. There's some things I could nitpick about but won't do so now, and there's less bugs than I thought there would be. Some thoughts: Faces and facial animations are bad on anything but the main characters, excluding Jensen. He's always bad. The levels allow for alternate paths, yes, but there doesn't seem to be much "shortcuts" that let you avoid some areas completely like DE1. Now to explore the city hub. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] Heh, just heard the UNATCO theme.
I've beat DE twice on hard, but I couldn't do liberty island on realistic :frown: I hadn't put any levels into Demolitions so the gas grenades detonated instantly.
To those who played the preview build. Is it possible to steathkill or perform executions using knives or other melee weapons or can we only use the elbow blades for that?
