Deus Ex: Human Revolution Megathread V2 - Electronic Old Men Running The World

I use preferably the non-lethal melee attack, because it nets a nice xp bonus, however I use the sniper rifle whenever I risk getting spotted otherwise. I simply enjoy being stealthy and thus making the game harder for myself. Just like in the old Splinter Cell days.
I always go with an adaptive playstyle. Just go with what seems like the best option.
I can't play lethal-non-lethal because I feel sad for the dude I've killed. Why does he has to die when the other dude didn't? :smith:
Also, I've completed the Sarif attack using non-lethal takedowns only since that gets you a lot of the experience.

deep down, I understand what you mean :frown:
See that's why I don't get it, it's a video game why does it matter if you stun them or beat them with a stick? The non lethal route just doesn't make sense to me.
Non lethal gives more exp.
Started playing with the stun gun. Its alot better. Faster, even though you got close to no range. Still, faster reload, if the shot connects the guy goes down in an instance, and it seems you got alot of ammo for it.
You still get tranq darts here and there, but you get alot more stun gun darts.

I don't think I've ever killed an NSF or UNATCO agent in Deus Ex for this exact reason.

Because true choice in a game isn't Paragon/Renegade; it's forcing you to impart your own morality upon the game.
Deus Ex 2 could have had some pretty deep meanings, the conflict between what a robot thinks for a utopia and what a human does.
It reminds me of a short story I read where society had no conflicts at all, not just warfare, very basic shit like jealousy, homophobia, racism, etc. Because of that, there were no police, nothing never really happened, except for one guy who ran around fucking shit up. He did it cause he could, then he would go away and do some wood carving.
Irl, if homophobia didn't affect Francis Bacon he wouldn't have painted about distorted figures
if politics wasn't full of conflict Rauchenburg wouldn't have made collages
there's so many more examples, mainly because all stories are fueled on conflict, everyone is driven by conflict.

I want to read that short story for some reason
Question, are the hostages before or after the suicide hacker?
Question, are the hostages before or after the suicide hacker?
before you take down the elevator
before you take down the elevator
... so before or after the hacker kills himself?
[editline]25th June 2011[/editline]
I dunno when is that...
quite a bit before the suicide hacker
Fuck i'll have to backtrack
There we go...

small tip:
[sp]there is a time limit on saving the hostages. the nerve gas is a binary agent and must be mixed out of two chemicals first. shoot one of both tanks to defuse if your time runs short.[/sp]

[sp]I found this by accident. Did I miss a data pad or something?[/sp]

I don't think you missed something, I only think it works that way, didn't find any intel about the device itself. Which makes me admire the devs even more for putting so much alternative solutions into the game.

Yeah its definitely encouraging trial and error. Hope to encounter more things like that in the full game.

You can do that? Holy shit this game is mad!
But I opted for hacking it like always.

One guard does have a PDA with a passcode to disarm it. I still let the hostages die because the keypad to disarm the bomb is so small I couldn't find the damn thing and had to escape out the vent to save myself.

We mean info on [sp]disarming it by shooting one of the canisters.[/sp]
I don't seem to remember seeing anything that tells you how to do that.

Ah my bad, yea you're right, I didn't even hear of that until now.
Has anyone ran into any Steam account issues after playing the leak?
Has anyone ran into any Steam account issues after playing the leak?
Like what? why would you have issues with your steam account after playing the leak?
The leak is steam integrated?
The leak is steam integrated?
no.
[editline]25th June 2011[/editline]
and it's a leak anyway, not a full game, it's like playing a demo you downloaded with a torrent.

If you cracked your leak then you have to restart Steam if you want to play a source MP game

After playing the leak
It's a slow news week, what about that drawing with our avatars on?
Which? The one where your avatar is drawn on or your avatar being drawn on a Jensen body?
The one where the finished ones are put together, like in the Stalker thread.
Oh. Good question.
