Lucky for me it will be. Still curious, but that's what patience is for!
I envy your level of self-control. I couldn't help myself for the Crysis 2 leak either. You play these games, you have an amazing time and then you feel really bad afterwards.
That's why, starting august, I'm gonna ditch the leak and not even think about it, in hopes of forgetting alot of stuff about it. It will still seem fresh to me since I can play the game in so many ways. Just yesterday I started hacking through everything and being all knock out stealthy. It used to be "kill everyone you meet and do everything the hard way".
Funny how the mind works. When you do something you've done in the past, the mind can recall bits and pieces of it, eventually recalling what you did, what happened, and how it ended.

You'll still get to enjoy everything past those first few missions.
they would never give a bunch of journalists a full version. also modern steam games use CEG, so theoretically they can track the leak to the account that was used by the responsible magazine, if it even was a leak. I'm also pretty sure the tester who leaked the game did it through /v/.

yes, but the initial leak was not patched. nevermind, who ever did this got away lucky and we had a good preview.
I played the leak and it only made me more excited to purchase the final product. I was always going to get it either way but this gave me a big push. I only used the leak to play the first two levels and get a grasp of mechanics. Stopped it once I was let free in the city. I just hope those weren't the final graphics.
Agreed, but I wouldn't even mind the current graphics. What do you have in mind: Better textures or shaders?
Agreed, but I wouldn't even mind the current graphics. What do you have in mind: Better textures or shaders?
Shaders mostly. Some things looked really bright and some really dark. It was all contrasting and unpleasant to look at. DX11 isn't even complete yet in the build however. Nothing is difference with DX11 minus the brightness levels going to hell.
More AA would do nicely.
I'm incredibly excited for this game, however, I have not played the leak. I'm debating whether to do so - it might ruin the experience come August. :/
I don't believe that the leak will ruin the experience. It's just like playing a demo of a game.
The leak was an inside job. They wouldn't prosecute anyway.
I don't believe that the leak will ruin the experience. It's just like playing a demo of a game.
But isn't it like... ten hours long?
But isn't it like... ten hours long?
It's only part of the game.
But isn't it like... ten hours long?
The full game is supposed to be ~40 hours long.
I hope we get a malkavian/recut of human revolutions. I never asked for Pritchard
I want a mod that adds "I never asked for this" as a response to EVERYTHING with totally random outcomes.
That will be the Malkavian mod.
That will be the Malkavian mod.
I anticipate the PEPS gun will be Sarif's hunting rifle.
I'm going to preorder HR and play the original Deus Ex this summer. Is Invisible War worth playing? I'll buy it if/when it goes on sale, but if that doesn't happen before HR is released will that be a problem? Human Revolution is a prequel, so does much, if anything from Invisible War matter in HR? Especially since it's pretty much a spin off, I wouldn't expect IW to be very important story wise. [editline]29th June 2011[/editline] Being a Michigander, I'm very excited that the main character was born in Detroit, and that Detroit is one of the main locations in the game.
IW really isn't that important but its kind of nice to see how the story goes.
IW really isn't that important but its kind of nice to see how the story goes.
All I've heard from it is that it's a pretty bad console port. I'm not too picky and try to give games a chance no matter what, so I'll end up playing it. I haven't played Deus Ex yet, but from what I can tell Human Revolution seems to be easier than the original. Doors and vents were highlighted for the player in all the videos I've seen. I've heard this can be turned off, which is good, I just hope it lets me think and doesn't give me the answer after 5 minutes. I don't mind if a game tries to be casual friendly, just give me the option to turn it all off. Certain parts of Portal 2 gave you the answer if the game got tired of waiting for you, I hope this doesn't happen here. It seems all games are trying to do this now.

HR really does improve on certain things, AI obviously being one of them. The whole highlighting thing is not a problem at all in my opinion. You can easily miss stuff even with it on.
The leak, in my opinion, is fucking fun to play. Having never played any Deus Ex before, I love everything about it so far. Will definitely be buying on release

To play the leak, or not to play the leak... I can't decide D:
To play the leak, or not to play the leak... I can't decide D:
People are saying that the leak is around 10 out of the expected 40 or so hours of the full thing. Including random shenanigans, replaying some missions, killing everyone and everything, fucking with the AI, I've squeezed out a few more. Aaaand just for kicks, I also downloaded a trainer so I could fuck around with all the augmentations. So. Much. Shit. To. Do. Also, for me, playing it stealth is also a slight throwback to Hitman:BM style gameplay in some ways
If I included replay value of just the leak it would be a lot more than 10 hours. I'd say a good honest run with plenty of exploring/doing side-quests etc would clock in 10 or so.
