Sony where really caught off guard here... Reguardless of how you look at it. They werent prepared for the worse and they fucked up security-wise.
Im feeling peckish for Metal Gear Online for no reason aswell. As well as White Knight Chronicles. >_>''
The personal information sure as hell wasn't encrypted though AFAIK. Big mistake.
If it was, the hacker might have gotten access to it, but wouldn't be able to use it.
Sony derped hard: everything is sent as plaintext, from credit card numbers and security codes to passwords and nicknames
also messages on PSN but that's not that big of a deal right now in comparison to what happened
Sigh just got dead rsing 2 for co op and I want to hit some Red dead Redemption multiplayer
Wii is the superior console and you know it.

Don't start that here.
If anything, can we sue them on this?
hahahhahah. Yeah sure, go sue a company which breaks the laws itself. Good luck!
When you accepted the terms of agree you pretty much sold your soul to sony.
If anything, can we sue them on this?
No, they fucked up big time but to put it in another light, it's like a guy robbing a store and making off with all the money, and instead of going after him you go after the guy who was held at gunpoint.
lol I was at my friend's house and while he was bitching about his PS3 not working I started playing that "how you killed your brand" PS3 song on my laptop, outdated as FUCK but he got pissed.

i don't think thats a very good comparison, as the money stolen by the robber can't be used to steal your identity or make further transactions in your name
Saw a news saying this is the biggest hacking attack EVER. As in IN THE WHOLE HISTORY.
Get 360.
Get 360.
Get :frog:.
Saw a news saying this is the biggest hacking attack EVER. As in IN THE WHOLE HISTORY.
All by one person or a whole group? This was really well organised. And i'll be surprised if it was by one person.
Glad PS3 is so expensive i didn't get it.
Glad PS3 is so expensive i didn't get it.
The PS3 is actually quite cheap for the hardware that is included.
I feel so sorry for the people with Playstation Plus. Including me.
I feel so sorry for the people with Playstation Plus. Including me.
They will compensate for the days down, at the very least.
I don't know what these "hackers' are thinking. It's only a matter of time before they're caught. Stealing money and credit card information will only make it worse on them.
Just cancelled my current debit card.
Kept going back and forth between thinking if my current card was registered on my PS3 or not because i can't for the life of me remember.
Better safe than sorry i guess.
Need to tell my dad to cancel his credit card, man Sony really fucked up :(
No, they fucked up big time but to put it in another light, it's like a guy robbing a store, which should be impossible to get into, and making off with all the money, and instead of going after him you go after the guy who was held at gunpoint.
Fixed
My local newspaper had this mentioned. The article said Anonymous might've had something to do with it.
Doesn't matter shit to me tho, I'm on PC.
For anyone who's concerned about their information but sucks at coming up with good passwords, like me, use this site: https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm
You'll obviously never be able to remember those so save the ones you use to an encrypted drive.

It's a bit paranoid but better safe then sorry.

The guy who was held at gunpoint should've done more to protect his money.
I didnt really think but, the hackers could potentially be sitting on millions of users data...thats still encypted. Maybe Sony do encrypt their data, but are just covering their asses as well it has been stolen at the end of the day.
Maybe.
Okay I did do that which was actually a lot of fun. So modifying games is a good use of homebrew. We have that now. Though I'm sure PS3 homebrew would start to take the purpose of cheating online which is really something I don't want to see. It works on the Wii since online multiplayer isn't used as much as other platforms.
Unfortunatly, mods for games like Uncharted and Killzone amount to script kiddies. :v:
Pretty sure my mom's credit card has been changed since I last used it, so I think I'm clear there.
Didn't they say something about being able to steal your PSN account and possibly your e-mail too?
I'm going to be really mad if I lose all my DLC and my old e-mail and because of some stupid ToS I don't get anything as compensation.

If you haven't noticed, this is ATLEAST a two months in planning sooooooooooo...They probably would've been prepared for any encrypted software.

Oh for fuck's sake, where are you people getting this info. Is a reputable source, and not just some guy on reddit or random reddit wannabe going "Yeah I totally know what they did wrong"
The link that had the logs on was posted on a site and it was accessable for a short while.
