I haven't heard anyone bring forth proof of them being charged. I don't think they have CC info.
Any smart hacker would be smart enough to never touch CC info, let alone 70 million credit cards.
This is STILL going on?
Oh boy.
Saw a news saying this is the biggest hacking attack EVER. As in IN THE WHOLE HISTORY.
Well that isn't true.
In 2009, Heartland Payment Systems was hit, resulting the acquisition of a whopping 130 million credit and debit cards. The hacker, Albert Gonzalez, was eventually sentenced to 20 years.

You were expecting something this big to fix itself overnight?
I still think it's pretty ridiculous that a multi-million dollar corporation didn't take the right security precautions to prevent being hacked.
I don't give a shit if we pay for PSN or not. I paid 600 goddamn dollars on my 60GB ps3 to play multiplayer with my friends.
To all of you people saying play singleplayer, go to hell. You are probably a shitbox user that only plays multiplayer on the Xbox, so don't be a hypocrite.
/rant
Vex, it's cool if your pissed at sony but seriously don't bring completely random console war horseshit into the thread.
I haven't used my PS3 for 3 months :/ but I am still screwed because I use my psp go :/
You are probably a shitbox user
Lost all respect here
It's amazing how goddamn stupid this whole thing is. Sony's made a few mistakes in the past, but neither they nor their customers deserve this shit.
Also I overheard a kid in my homeroom today telling his friend how "the faggot PS3 fanboys deserve what they're getting." :v:
So I'm getting my CC info checked out in a bit, will let you know if any "strange" charges have been made in the past 24-48 hours (or beyond).
Again, I can be angry but at the same time it's like...what are the odds man. 77,000,000 : 1
Yeah this is fucking ridiculous that the information got stolen but in the same respect they're busy doing everything they possibly can to resolve the situation. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not the people having to deal with this right now.
It's not like any business is hacker proof anyway, Sony just made themselves an easy target unfortunately and this whole debate has devolved into a console war instead of objectively discussing the situation at hand realistically.
Am I pissed at Sony? You bet. Is it the end of my trust in them? Not quite. We'll see how this plays out.
If I never used my credit card infos on PSN, I'm supposed to be safe, right?
The mail I got from Sony just worried me.
Also, I hope Sony will have learned something after this. They better get their head out of their asses and start looking at what they are doing and more importantly, at what they are fucking holding in their hands, which is IMPORTANT PERSONAL INFORMATION.

No, they'll hack your wallet and find out your CC info.

If you never used your CC, then don't worry about that
They do have your full name etc though
Gasp! My full name!?
Damn, should've registered my name as Juju Johnson.

No.
Maybe 8 days would of been a reasonable amount.
But apparently not.

Yeah just a massive back door in the PSN allowing hackers to gather personal information of every single user registered to the network and do god knows what with.
Should be done with right
Just curious, I'm not worried about this happening but just curious if it is possible. Is it possible for say the same thing to happen to Steam?
day 7 of the PSN outage.
i feel weak, my body is suffering full shock of lack of nutrients
i feel exhausted, cant go on.
i dont feel like i can survice another week, or even 5 days
please send medical aid

I think the quality of security went up for them ever since the HL2 leak so although it is possible it's not likely.
People shouldn't really worry about identity theft. If someone wanted your info, they could easily find it online: http://www.spokeo.com/
Also, I highly doubt they will get very far without your SS#
To anyone who's saying we're pissed off because we don't have online play and we should be grateful for having it in the first place for free, I'm pissed off because all my fucking details are leaked and now I'm at risk of fraud of many, many, many fucking types.
Good job Sony, you fucking cocks - this is their second PlayStation related cockup as of late. If they can't hold their security, I can't buy anything from them or trust them at all.

Like solid_jake said, unlikely, but possible.
On the Internet, anything and everything is accessible. It's just a matter of time.

Yeah, they're going to specifically target Matthew from Australia
Yeah, they're going to specifically target Matthew from Australia
They have loads of details - they've already started on the credit cards with fradulent charges on some people, and others are reporting spam. They could sell the details off to smaller crime groups for a fair bit of money - they have details of mine that they could use to profit, they'll certainly use them.
Good news, all my CC info wasn't accessed. No suspicious charges, company has been made aware that there is a security breach and they're watching it for suspicious activity anyway (I think all companies have gotten the memo from Sony by now, then again it's standard procedure for these companies in this day and age).
Anything that might ever so slightly be linked by name, address, email and more has had their passwords altered or changed. The only thing of concern is the CC, and that hasn't been touched. So yay. Now to keep fingers crossed.
My card has a tiny limit so even if my shit was stolen there isn't much they could buy before they maxed it out, still I wouldn't want anything to happen at all.
I changed all my passwords for accounts that I actively use, can remember even exist, or are related to purchasing shit.
Sony has pretty much answered everyone's concerns here.

This would explain why my CC didn't have any suspicious activity, don't believe all the people claiming their cards have had stuff charged to them kids
I compiled a shitload of info regarding everything going on in the OP of the PS Community thread if there are more concerns (spreading ze knowledge yo). All the latest stuff happening (literally stuff posted minutes ago online)

Thanks for that.
Meh. I am going to bet nobody got any shit stolen or if they did, it would be compensated fully. If the skiddies have any sort of intelligence, they should know trying to steal credit card information is probably the stupidest thing to do ever. Dick move for Sony letting this shit happen in the first place, but I won't just write them off for this what happened. This time away from MP games has really made me appreciate what I have. I've been playing some FNV and Hitman Blood Money since. Thank you Sony for appreciating my single-player games.
