Seriously, Seriously change passwords and such.
I'm doing this right now. I mean, my PSN password was different from everything else, but it's a bit similar, so I'm still paranoid. Still, Sony really dropped the ball on this one by not really having any preventive measures. Oh well, here's hoping it comes up soon, I want to change my password and link up Portal 2 along with those free Patapon 3 hats.
they're doing maintenance and an investigation because people hacked into their servers and stole information you idiot
It doesn't matter *WHY* they're doing it. When it gets covered on the NATIONAL NEWS it's a big deal and it makes the company look bad. Not to gamers who know the details, but to the casual gamers who don't know much about video games. And unfortunately casuals are where all the money is. All those people are going to get from this is that Sony's online service is unreliable, and Sony will let hackers steal your credit card.
Sony is trying really, really hard to stay in last place. I know this is no big deal, but it makes Sony look really bad and will probably hurt sales of the PS4.
Do you know anything about economics?
And unfortunately casuals are where all the money is.
I guess that answers my question.
Do you know anything about economics? I guess that answers my question.
Was that supposed to mean something? Did you have some kind of point you were trying to make? Because it looks a lot like meaningless bullshitting.
Which has happened.
For two weeks and that is a paid goddamn service. Good thing we don't have to pay for PSN or I'd be one pissed off customer. I hope the service is up sometime this week, I'd really like to activate my (2nd) PC copy.
thank god i never used credit cards, i used prepaid cards to buy stuff from the PSN. still, im worried for my password and email, about my direction im pretty sure it wasnt the real one anyway

Give me your fanboy boxes, but you know I'm right.
-sony gets hacked by hackers -"hurr they sure are trying hard to suk lolololol" Words cannot express your stupidity. But hey, can't expect intelligence from a 360 player.

It's about where someone is focused. Apparently hackers are focused on the PS3 recently.

Sony can't control the hackers, but they are doing a really bad job with damage control. They should be getting PR people out there talking about how they are protecting data and bla bla bla bla, but instead they are staying tight-lipped and the news is saying a bunch of stuff that makes them look shitty.
Was that supposed to mean something? Did you have some kind of point you were trying to make? Your post reads like "HURR DURR SONY N ITZ FANS SHURE R STOOPID" I guess it doesn't help the fact your XBL Account is publicly listed giving away your bias from the get go but whatev's man.

They may not be able to get the system back online yet, but they could get a public relation team out there doing interviews talking about how Sony is protecting consumers or someshit. Instead they're being all weird about it and local news stations in the USA are just making shit up about how cyber-terrorists are stealing your credit cards through your PS3. So I guess you must be biased and stupid because you own a PS3 right? Yeah, that's how it works. :frog:

Maybe in a time of panic keeping tight lipped about the whole situation seemed like a much better idea. It's been literally attack after attack against sony because of what? Some random people couldn't install Linux on their PS3 anymore. That small minor group couldn't and it probably resulted in this which is stupid. So yeah Sony have acted badly but holy shit they are working through a tough time at the moment.
lol hacked PSN? A few months after a hacked PS3!
I am seriously pissed and disappointed at Sony right now.
People seem to have forgotten the 2 weeks of downtime xbox live had when Halo 3 came out. I still preferr the overall service, but so far, PS3 is beating us on downtime. The security breach could be a problem though.
I am seriously pissed and disappointed at Sony right now.
I'm pissed but I'm not going to burn down their HQ. If they are really being hacked (half of me believes it, half of me doesn't) then I feel sympathy. If they aren't then I hope the reason is real fucking good. I'm worried about the credit card business.
Sony didn't honestly just "suck at security" They just pissed people off enough that someone capable actually did something. Big shocker there...
Well, gamefly should keep me busy with singleplayer games like Okami for now, I just hope it comes back before friday.
Oh shit, they have EVERYTHING? I'm glad I never bought a PS3. :ohdear:

Is it up yet?
I didn't care about it being out, but losing everyone's information is bullshit. Oh and hiding that fact for 5 days.
A lot of people bought a PS3 just to use Linux on it stop trying to make it seem like nothing.
Figures were recently released by an independent source (from what I recall it was Game Informer) that less than 0.1% of the PS3 user base had ever even accessed the "Other OS" feature on their consoles, let alone knew it existed. I think you should stop pretending to blow something out of proportion. Do the math. Roughly 50,000,000 PS3s sold worldwide. 10% of that is 5,000,000. 1% of that is 500,000. Which means that if it's 0.1%, a total of 50,000 people ever even used that Feature (ROUGH estimate, it's probably even less than that). 50,000 =/= 50,000,000 (not taking into account many consoles are used by multiple people within one household, making the total not using it even greater)
A lot of people bought a PS3 just to use Linux on it stop trying to make it seem like nothing.
I know the removal of Linux capability was a bad move on their part, but nobody that I know has bought their PS3 just to put Linux on it besides for $350 why would you buy a PS3 just to put Linux on it when you can get yourself a computer for the same price that will handle Linux much better than the PS3 ever will

It's such a small number that it doesn't really matter in the end. But of course they threw their toys out the pram when it happened.
A lot of people bought a PS3 just to use Linux on it stop trying to make it seem like nothing.
If they only used the Other OS feature they could just not update. Other OS was really a useless feature since you didn't have access to any of the hardware so the only cool part was the boot up and then it gets old quickly.
Well anyone who wants to use Linux now with full hardware support just needs to install a CFW but the fact that Sony removed a feature is really stupid.
A group of hackers called, "Anonymous" Took over because they were mad that George Hotz was sued
