I think it's the fact that she looks more relistic, which is why she looks more attractive, in Portal 1 she a square jaw and massive nose
I think it's the fact that she looks more relistic, which is why she looks more attractive, in Portal 1 she a square jaw and massive nose
She looked more realistic in Portal 1; she looked like an everyday person who's already gone through testing. In Portal 2 she looks like a model who'd cry after breaking a nail.
Is this really of grave concern.
You're posting on a forum for a mod. Let's not worry about the situation in Libya just yet.
I only have one thing to say about this and it's an example. Lara Croft. (I'm saying that Lara Croft is an example of the type of character that Chell is, in that she's attractive in Portal 2 but also represents a woman who is independent and able to take care of herself)
i never had an opinion about her. if anything i just felt bad for her the whole game.
i never had an opinion about her. if anything i just felt bad for her the whole game.
Think of all the health risks she's been exposed to, the gels in Portal 2, the many times being shot, the exposure to Emancipation Grids. She's not gonna have a long healthy life, I'll tell you that.

Alyx was made to be realistic as she's a character you actually interact with, Chell was made to be attractive the same way Lara Croft was, in that not only does it attract men but I've read how with Lara Croft women like playing as a strong independent woman. Notice how Chell is the star of a first-person shooter where she uses her wits and skill and not strength to survive.
it can be 2 reasons for the models be so different from each other. * first: It could be some sort of limitation of the model and texture. Portal was an experimental game that turned into the major concept of the game play. they just added a quick player model to make some tests and then reskinned to a new one based on what they already have. with the popularity of it, they decided to pimp up a little the woman that was the protagonist (lara croft anyone?). and let's face. the characters from HL2 aren't very pretty too. * second: less probable but plausible, if u take a closer look at Chell in P1 she's a little messy. like if she have just woke up after partying hard for 24 hours straight. she got sore eyes and bad hair. and the suit is all fucked up too. when she got back to the labs she got a "makeover". they (whoever they may be) have cleaned and dressed her with new clothes. also, she had just woke up again of a long rest. or she had just been cloned to a new stage of development. *new third option: they made it so the game could sell more with a hot half dressed almost naked principal character.

Rattman's murals all, more or less, depict Chell in her old design. Apparently it's still canon.
This thread makes no sense, the real question is which looks more like Alesia Glidewell, who was put inta a 3D-scanner as reference for the in-game model. Portal 2 features a Chell actually looking like the real world counterpart. It's probably because they made Chell look more white in this game, lighter skin tone and more rounded eyes... compared to her darker skin tone and slanted eyes she had in the first game.
Who gives a shit? It's a game. Plus she's not even on the main cover art, so I don't know how the game would attract men.
Maybe it's the hair.
or the face
Valve didn't expect Portal to be such a huge hit, so they didn't worry much about the PLAYER MODEL - You hardly even see it in-game unless you do the portal thing or enable third person. When Portal became such a huge hit, they decided on a sequel and made her prettier. Think about it: If you made a dumb little game with bad art, and it became a huge hit and called for a sequel, would you use the same bad art or would you tidy it up to look better?
It's simple, Chell's face structure in Portal 1 was bubbling ass while Portal 2 Chell's face had better overall structure, I did not detect any makeup nor any change in boob size.
Maybe the devs just wanted to have a better looking chell? It may just be a matter of personal pride to them that they put more work into the character. The fact that they gone Gordon Freeman on her ass by doing nothign voice wise does not help that aspect.
i find the p2 chell ugly anyways cause of her constantly shocked expression fucking bug eyes
Valve said everything in Portal 2 was supposed to look the same in Portal but they didn't have enough money to do so.
I, without hesitation, will be the first to say that I thought she was hot, even when she was still ugly. [sp]No, I‘m not being sarcastic[/sp]
To be honest the original model had some really odd facial structure which made her look somewhat alien. The lips were oddly protruding far too much and the eyes and cheeckbones just felt wrong.
I, without hesitation, will be the first to say that I thought she was hot, even when she was still ugly. [sp]No, I‘m not being sarcastic[/sp]
How does that work
anyone who seriously frets over the attractiveness of a 3d model or peoples opinions has never ever or will ever get laid forever op
anyone who seriously frets over the attractiveness of a 3d model or peoples opinions has never ever or will ever get laid forever op
Wouldn't surprise me at all.
She looked alot better in portal 1. In two she just looks like zoey from L4D with makeup on.
She looked alot better in portal 1. In two she just looks like zoey from L4D with makeup on.
Maybe it's because they were based off of the exact same person? And how is that a bad thing?
I feel pretty bad for women who play video games if Lara Croft is gonna be held up as the ideal female protagonist.
I never said she was the ideal female protagonist, but she is definitely one of the first that paved the way for much better female protagonists. And she fits for what I'm saying, she's made attractive yet she's not some weak woman who needs a man to save her.
Maybe it's because they were based off of the exact same person? And how is that a bad thing?
why people keeping saying that??????????????? it isn't the same person the Zoey from l4d BETA was the same person

the final Zoey is Sonja Kinski
