It's just an opinion, no big deal. It doesn't make sense that she turned into a Lara Croft wannabe in Portal 2, but i can live with that. I like Portal 1 Chell better because she looks more fitting, with bad hair day and all. But you can disagree because everyone is right and everyone is wrong when it comes to opinions.

Anyway, Chell was ugly in the first game. She looks alot better in Portal 2. The jumpsuit and everything was fine, it was just her face (mostly her hair aswell) She was Retconned, the comic got it wrong. It got a few thing wrong - One of the buttons is Portal 1 style, one of the murals is the wrong size and missing some parts etc

See people probably think they are comming off as sensitive by criticizing the apparant selling out by valve to make chell more attractive, but your still judging her by her apperance either way you look at it, we are supposed to like chell because shes just as badass as the Master Chief, Gordon Freeman etc without the suit of armour 50. machine guns and female sidekick. not because of some statement about their attractiveness (or lack of) desipite being the hero. and it's not some sex sells conspriacy either considering how smooth portal 2 looks why would they ruin that by purposely making an ugly character? If there is only one way of looking at her apperance it should be that portal 1 was a very featureless enviorment and chells design matched likewise, in portal 2 chell has her old jumpsuit undone revealing a more modern and human sports top to give a simmilar effect like the test chambers where its half broken down and abandoned and the other half is brand new and inviting. And honestly would anyone go though being shot at, falling, drowning being burnt just to kick a computers ass and to escape aperture?(not me because i think aperture was awesome and i dunno what Doug Rattmann is bitching about) no. and (distance traveled x amount of damage taken x amount of damage given + survival = badass) and chell did travel the whole way through the enrichment center twice, survived centuries and blew up the facility in the first game so shes pretty badass when you think about it.

She isn't supposed to look hot, but she's rather [b]atrocious[/b] on both games, i don't know if it's intentional or not but holy fucking shit, I'm glad you didn't have to look at her face on Portal 2.

I'm pretty sure Valve said somewhere that things look different in Portal 2 compared to the first Portal because they had more time and resources to make a better looking game, and that you were just meant to use your imagination and pretend that the first Portal had all of the moving panels whatnot. It's nothing to do with beauty sleep, it's just a matter of improved game quality.

But when Valve bought the rights of the game and shit, they changed it to a new model. As for her voice, Jen Taylor (Cortana) has voiced her.

The redo was not based on Alesia. The only connection she has is doing some of the voice acting before being mostly replaced by Jen.
