One really strange thing with simcity 4 is. What the fuck is with this song.

Out of all the tracks in the game, this one is unchecked from the playlist. If your going to uncheck it from the playlist why even include such song in the game ? Also it doesn't really fit sim city.

I don't know, maybe if you decide to make some form of bad communist regime, you can play this in the background? Like if you make the city's habitants lives living hell...
inb4 shitty creepypasta about how one of the composers died or something
I played SimAnt, Simcity 1 and 2000, Simlife/Simearth, and I think Simfarm. My favorite was SimAnt, and I actually played that a couple weeks ago. It's one of the first games I played, ever, and one of my favorites.
I always used to play Town, Tower and Golf.
Not that hard.
Assuming the game you're running is in a folder named after the game, and have said folder on the C drive, then you'll just need to do as follows:
I used SimAnt for this, but replace the name of it after whatever the game/folder name is

Type in exactly what is there, and it should pull up the game.

For other games, like SimCity or something, check to see what the exe name is, and use that instead of what I have above to launch the game.
So I did basically everything that you did but with SimTower, and every time I try and run the setup, it gives me something along the lines of "This program needs Microsoft Windows to run".
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.
I can't seem to install Sim Earth correctly.

Ok I've installed Sim Earth, but when I run it through DOSBOx it just gives me a black screen

Well then how the heck do I go about running it on a 64-bit system?

I don't think you can... try running it in compatibility?

Didn't W7 64-bit give up on 16-bit compatiblity?

Probably, which fucking sucks because now I'll have to figure out how the fuck to set up a virtual system, which I have no idea how to do :v: That and apparently I'm not "eligible" for the official virtual machine software that Micro$oft offers.
Awesome listing, but I think you should add a section about Spore. It's still a Maxis game and a simulation.
It could have been called SimLife 2 or maybe SimEverything.

It's not part of the Sim series.

If you have a copy of Windows XP, you can download VMware and run an emulated version of XP in it, regardless of your version of Windows 7.
I actually prefer it to the WindowsXP Virtual PC with W7, as VMware has graphic drivers available for download. It's helpful as I've found some games won't run without the drivers installed
I can't seem to install Sim Earth correctly.
To install SimEarth, you need to launch the Setup.bat file in the rar file.
The bat file won't work with 64bit versions of Windows, so you'll be SOL if you're using one.
If not, follow these instructions I found online (I use 64bit, so I can't verify that this works 100% for ya)
unpack the files in a directory e.g c:\downloads\simearth
double click setup.bat
press enter
install from drive B: <enter>
<enter> / confirmation
<enter> / installs to drive C:
<enter> / installs to c:\SimEarth
<enter> / confirmation
<enter> / leave to 640 480 16 color
<enter> / confirmation
sound: you right arrow key to scroll to sound blaster
<enter> /choose soundblaster
<enter> / confirmation
<enter> /english language
<enter> / confirmation
<enter> / is this all correct confirmation
<space bar>
<space bar>
the game is now installed to c:\simearth
to run the game.
start dosbox
type mount c c:\simearth (the virtual C: drive of dosbox will link directly to c:\simearth)
type c:\ <enter>
type simearth <enter>
that should do it.

Lemme try and load these up with an emulated XP in VMware and see if they work

SimTower installs perfectly on its own within the emulated XP, no need for Dosbox.
Although the game seems to speed by, like, days go by within minutes. Is this normal or something, or do I need to tweak the speed like how The Sims has different speeds for the flow of time?
EA should make a GOOD SimCity 5, like SC4 with updated graphics and new capabilities.

The last Simcity and Sims games were by different teams

It sounds like you either accidentally triggered the fast-forward or it's stuck for some reason. That time zooms by that way if everyone in your tower is gone or if everyone is asleep.

Maxis is around, printing money for EA with The Sims and Spore franchises. Will Wright no longer works for EA-Maxis, but started some entertainment think-tank (with robots) in partnership with EA, though it may or may not be Maxis or Sim* related.
I remember one christmas my dad got a Sim pack with Sim Ant, Sim Tunes, Sim Park and Sim Safari.
Best
Christmas
Ever

Well, according to this wiki page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims_Studio
Maxis has nothing to do with new generation of the Sims, and I know the newest SimCity game was made by Tilted Mill.
I think the last thing with the Maxis name on it was Spore and its expansion
A Maxis without Will Wright isn't a Maxis to me
Perhaps...mind you Simcity 4 was not developed by Will Wright. So the Simcity franchise is in capable hands without him, but I would love to see Will Wright do Simcity 5.
what the hell is Will Wright even working on right now?
