what the hell is Will Wright even working on right now?
http://www.stupidfunclub.com/
Perhaps...mind you Simcity 4 was not developed by Will Wright. So the Simcity franchise is in capable hands without him, but I would love to see Will Wright do Simcity 5.
Was in capable hands. I'd say that the studio who did the last one butchered it.
Was in capable hands. I'd say that the studio who did the last one butchered it.
Last one as in SimCity Societies? If so, that wasn't done by Maxis/The Sims Studio, but another studio called Tilted Mill Entertainment.
What a coincidence, I started playing Sim City 4 around the time this thread was made. Probably about 2 or 3 days ago. I'm doing great, the game is so much fun.
i never really like the sim city games, I used to play sim city 3000 and sim city 4, and tend to get bored with these games.

Look what I've found!
To install SimEarth, you need to launch the Setup.bat file in the rar file. The bat file won't work with 64bit versions of Windows, so you'll be SOL if you're using one. If not, follow these instructions I found online (I use 64bit, so I can't verify that this works 100% for ya)
No, I did that already. followed the instructions, it just boots to a black screen.
I made a huge city but I can't get the city to build sky scrapers when I put down the high end zones for residential and commercial
Sim City and SC2K were the shit. 3K was a little too complicated for me as a child, so I didn't really get into the later games. SimEarth and SimLife were especially over my head. They really were a lot more about simulation than gameplay, I thought. SimTower was pretty damn awesome though, just sucks that it eventually devolves into SimElevatorManagement. Really liked SimAnt too. Did anyone else ever see the rare laser-shooting spider?
fucking hell I wish they would make a SimCopter for SimCity 4
fucking hell I wish they would make a SimCopter for SimCity 4
I agree, holy shit
Motherfucking nostalgia. I picked up like a 5 pack when I was younger, it had Simcopter(FOR THE FUCKING WIN), SimIsle(never really ran well, and my agents kept getting lost in the woods), Streets Of Simcity(Not half bad), SimSafari(played it a bit, not a huge fan), and SimTower(played alot, sucked at it). Also, Fucking SimFarm. Played the shit out of it in my elementary school computer class, and then bought it and played the shit out of it at home.
I had that same pack. I played all of them a lot, except Sim Safari. (I quit when I realized that no matter how much money I poured into that African village, it would never turn into a good city)
how about the sims social ? (facebook game)
Would buying SimCity 4 be a good idea, or will i regret this? *One time, i got Drew Carey to show up at one of my parties. My sister ran up to the computer, activated the cheat that lets you delete anything, and DELETED DREW CAREY. He never showed up to any parties again. I was pissed. (Yes, the last Sims game i actually played was Sims 1. Or maybe Sims Online. Can't recall.)
I laughed at the runway position
It's funnier when you check my name, then the buildings, then the airport. [editline]29th June 2011[/editline] By the way, that city has a pop of 14k. The one next to it has 98k
holy shit. Here an interview with this mastermind. http://www.viceland.com/blogs/uk-games/2010/05/10/the-totalitarian-buddhist-who-beat-sim-city/
No, I did that already. followed the instructions, it just boots to a black screen.
Are you running a 64bit version of Vista? I haven't tried running it on Vista, only on an emulated XP and my 64bit W7. It didn't work in W7, gave an error about it not running in 64bit. Worked perfectly using the directions I gave you when installing within the XP. So, either you have a 64bit version of Vista, or the installer doesn't work in Vista. Just a guess.
inb4 shitty creepypasta about how one of the composers died or something
challenge accepted. http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Primordial_Dream
I don't know, maybe if you decide to make some form of bad communist regime, you can play this in the background? Like if you make the city's habitants lives living hell... inb4 shitty creepypasta about how one of the composers died or something
My first city was great, and just like that. Totalitarian police state. A deluxe police station every 4 blocks. No hospitals, no schools, no connections to the outer world. The population grew to 100,000. Then, I made a single path out of the city to see what would happen, all the sudden within 3 game months the city was empty.
You have now encouraged me to go buy Simcity 4, congratulations. I want to play the game so bad.
It's so much fun. Just remember to save every hour or so. I lost two great cities to that. [editline]29th June 2011[/editline] I call it, NEW JERSEY.
in some dumb computer class for 8th grade all i did in there was play sim ant. the teacher got fired for molesting a student (whatever they mean by molesting i dunno, for all we knew the bitch sued the school cause he poked her or something, but he was a creepy fuck none the less) so i don't even think i got graded in that class. i remember the ugly bitches who sat next to me spent all their time looking up pictures of massive cocks.
I feel like simcity 3000's music is better than Sim city 4's
Loved sim city 4 as a child. It was one of the few games I was up all night playing.
Primordial Soup wasn't checked for that very reason. It didn't fit in with the game, and the developers thought it would weird people out. They just couldn't be assed to remove it. [editline]30th June 2011[/editline] I'd also like to see a facepunch collab region. We could pass it around and each make a city or two, and help shape the terrain of it. It'd be cool. [editline]30th June 2011[/editline] Yeah, so long as we each have the same plugins it'd work out. I'd like to see it, it'd be cool seeing the terraforming people do. Having a variety of mountains and lakes and maybe a sea would be great.

We basically created a multiplayer sim city 4 using dropbox & some link software It died tho and it was quite a while ago, I don't remember how to do it. But it was awesome. Just going out of your city to check on the others, seeing them grow. It was great.
