Did you tell him to play Vanilla on CS and CoP first? God forbid if you didn't.
He has only played Vanilla ShoC
So, I read your preview and it was pretty decently written. But care to explain the taliban zombies? They didn't really seem like traditional stalker zombies, at least.
And to think I thought the Russian books were well written :v:

Indeed, they are more like the military in SoC and CS, a faction impossible to interact with - no talk, only shooting. For obvious reasons, there will be an encounter between the Major and a "dushman" to add the latters a more human dimension. I'll tell the writer to add a few lines to fine-tune their part. Thanks. [editline]27th May 2011[/editline]
And to think I thought the Russian books were well written :v:
Sergey Grigorovich himself said in an interview that GSC is not satisfied at all with their quality. Maybe that's another reason why they aren't too keen to translate them (apart from some legal quarrels with the publisher).

The authors were obviously aiming for quantity and not quality.

Luckily, everyone involved in the making of "Southern Comfort" is a dedicated fan. As far as money goes - honestly, we would be all happy enough if the book brings us the production costs back. Creating it is a reward in itself.
Well, now that I know how the Russian books are, I'm much more anticipating of your book. Good luck!

Am I the only one who kinda dislikes the whole C consciousness deal? It just seems to sci-fi'ish to me.
Am I the only one who kinda dislikes the whole C consciousness deal? It just seems to sci-fi'ish to me.
I hate that they were revealed in the end of ShoC. I hate the noosphere crap but when I thought about it, Soviet(and post-Soviet) mind-control experiments gone wrong is still preferable to ALIENS! as an explanation why the Zone exists. Explaining everything in the end of Shadow of Chernobyl felt like a massive letdown because it would've felt much more exciting to slowly uncover the Zone's secret during the course of the entire series instead of having a talking head explain it to you all at once. But maybe GSC wasn't planning for 3+ games to come out when they finally finished Shadow of Chernobyl.
Don't tell me they ever for one second ever thought of using aliens as an explanation.
Well it was ALIENS! in Roadside Picnic which was one of the inspirations for the game... I don't know about GSC's thoughts regarding the "alien" thing but on my first playthrough I had a fear that it will turn into ALIENS! kind of explanation because of the rumours surrounding the Wish Granter.
Don't tell me they ever for one second ever thought of using aliens as an explanation.

Explaining something with aliens is such a commonplace.
Just did my first vanilla run of CoP, any recommended mods to try now? Currently downloading one called Redux.
That's fin- First vanilla run? Something just doesn't seem right here. Why didn't you use complete first like every other stupid rookie?
Because I don't normally mod a game the first time I've played it. That doesn't seem like the right thing to do at all...
Complete is so bad.
Anyway I've installed Redux Full and I'm patching it to 1.5a. Any other suggestions? :arghfist::ninja:
read the pda's
If they do have aliens, I hope they're like Deus Ex aliens in that they might aliens or they might be hairless, mutated monkeys.
Hm, you know, after after reading up on the book and general description of the Zonistan, I can see a mod based off S:SC being made for STALKER 2. It could be the ultimate freshner compared to every other mod.
:ohdear:
Dude, what mod?
Dude, what mod?
Probably SMP. Also is your avatar what I think it is?
cant wait to get my hands on the new bertha
Okay, so i'm gonna play stalker cop for the first time. I never played stalker before, any tips?
Dude, what mod?

Probably SMP.
Yep, sure is.
Okay, so i'm gonna play stalker cop for the first time. I never played stalker before, any tips?
Almost everyone in the thread advises everyone to play it without any mods for the first time but I'd advise to play an hour or so with vanilla and if you can't stand the graphics/some unpolished stuff, download Call of Pripyat : Complete / Come back to ask what mod would fix the gripes you're having with the game. Don't quicksave. Seriously, you don't need it. Only save in the basecamps for maximum atmosphere. Play on Master Travel with your fellow stalkers and when they engage something, observe the battle from a distance and rush in to loot the corpses. Utilize cover. This can be hard in the first area but if you're in a firefight with humans, go to cover and lean out to shoot using Q and E (default). Don't hoard every weapon you find. The traders won't buy crap quality weapons and a shitton of swag will needlessly slow you down and prevent you from sprinting in times of trouble. Don't waste ammo on mutants if you can avoid them. The boars in particular can soak up a lot of damage and shooting mutants doesn't give you any rewards like in the first game.
Shoot Tuna in the face.
Spidey snork, spidey snork doing whatever a spidey snork does. THAT FUCKER WAS MOONWALKING THROUGH THE FUCKING AIR A FEW MOMENTS AGO (he's still a bit afloat) WHAT THE FUCK NOW I AM MOONWALKING THROUGH AIR WHAT THE SHIT such is life in the zone.
Probably SMP. Also is your avatar what I think it is?
What? It's just a black gentleman wearing a thick coat with a large, puffy collar.
Okay, so i'm gonna play stalker cop for the first time. I never played stalker before, any tips?
It's not neccessary but play SHOC and CS before COP, it doesn't do much cause the plot is pmuch irrelevant, but it will add alot of those "HEY I KNOW THAT BRO" moments.
