I'd kind of like smaller areas. CoP had a big exploration potential, but the whole place was just boring. There is nearly nothing going on in the game outside of the quest related stuff.

OH COME ON... I thought copying my lurk gamedata from windows xp 32 bit would work when I reformatted and upgraded to w7.

Oh... I forgot to install patch 1.0005.
Ever since I played Clear Sky and talked to the very first trader you meet, I've always entertained the thought of writing some piece where it centers on the underground network of traders and their business in the Zone. I think it'd be interesting to see the life of a trader smuggling things in and out of the Zone and living through the tumultuous events that occur in the Zone, and how life is different not only inside the Zone but also outside of it. Sort of like how in Roadside Picnic the main character was always skirting around police and army forces whenever he came back from the Zone. Lots of politics and all that.
This is why I don't go to agroprom
I went to agroprom to collect some artifacts when I decided to visit the complex and found only one military man alive with a bunch of dead stalkers, bandits, two dead bloodsuckers and a ton of dead military.

That's nothing. Once I went there and decided to spawn giant electric anomalies at all the exits, and then proceeded to stand atop a small pillar and spawn as many Pseudohounds and Bloodsuckers as humanly possible.
May God have mercy on those bastards souls.
Who did the names in Stalker?
I see guys with names like.
Vlad Axe
Viktor Monocle

:iia:
I'm pretty sure they're all randomly generated.
I ran into a zombie with the last name Lucky Bastard. I laughed at the irony

Yep they are. There was a mod that changed them to the Russian names, which added realism but took away the funnnnn.
they took the idea from the original stalker movie, where no one uses their real name, instead they use a nickname related to something
So...

Also a good idea when you're not legally supposed to be in the Zone, and other people knowing who you are could be a problem after you leave.
Pretty sure German AA-Gun takes the cake
Also I think I remember seeing a "SWAT officer" once
Woops, wrong thread.
That and the fact that the best known Stalkers never have boring names. You want the most well known Stalker in the zone to be called Alex or something? Ghost, Charon, Strelok, they have to become legends instead of just men. A good nickname will give a distinct flavour to them and make it easier to become renown.
HOLY FUCK! Was browsing around and found this image of Stalker 2, I do not know if it's official, so right now I'll put it up for the golds. What do you guys think?

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG I am assuming that global illumination doesn't lag otherwise they wouldn't have it on unless they want to tease us.
I want the Urban Combat version of the Mosin Nagat. It's the carbine variant with a permanently attatched folding bayonet.
I love that thing in RO.

I'll be sure to get those on there.
And yes, global illumination lags like fucking crazy.
Calculating light from say perhaps sixty reflections and at least a few million rays... :psyduck:
I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised by how well the next stalker game will run, here is my logic:
Since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is going multi-platform, there is going to be a huge challenge creating a game for the XBOX 360 and PS3 because of memory constraints. Crytek said that it was not GPU power, but memory constraints that were the hardest to overcome when developing the CryEngine 3. GSC will face the same problem, but as a result, PC's with far more memory are going to benefit because of the massive optimization for consoles. Any questions?
GSC and optimization in the same sentence? lol
any chance of seeing stalker 2 at e3? where was call of pripyat unveiled?
E3 is a very mainstream gaming event, if GSC attends they'll have a small booth and that's all. No real "unveiling".

Ornithologists in the zone.
Loads of good ones in here.
Saw the small ModDB article about WotW and had a surge of pride. :unsmith:
