I thought of making a petition for COOP in STALKER and publish it everywhere possible, maybe the devs will notice it.
Thoughts?

I think that Sergey considered about coop, but with the current AI system used in X-Ray it is impossible to synchronize the AI to multiple players at once.
how about use the same method they use when stalkers confront bandits in the open
[editline]30th May 2011[/editline]
shoot the first guy until hes dead
then shoot the second guy

fuck
They should just pack in a co-op mode that needs to be unlocked via changing some values in a file and that only works in LAN.
I'm thinking of radically altering the way Loners/Bandits work in Way of the Wolf. Thoughts?
Depends on what you mean..
Do you mean :
1. Fading the "Faction lines" away so that regular stalkers aren't necessarily always buddy-buddy with each other and sometimes you're attacked/robbed by opportunistic loners instead of having the always identifiable bandits ?
Also, maybe having loners sometimes do "assassination" missions as in giving them a randomly-selected target(or YOU if you've pissed off people) ,having them walk up to the target while still being neutral towards them(if their faction allows) , turning "hostile" ,putting a silenced pistol round through their skull and carrying on. Preferably at nighttime, of course.
2. Having the bandits operate out of a base the same way Loners do in Call of Pripyat, having sleep and "daytime action" patterns ?
3. Introducing new mechanics such as bandits asking for "protection money" so that you'll be left alone for X number of days etc. ?
4.Bandits setting up ambushes with a Loner lying "wounded" on the ground crying in pain and when you go investigate, some bandits spawn behind you and suddenly it's "money or your lyfe!" ?
5. If you piss off the bandits big time (like in a questline á la The Hit) they could put a price on your head and could send the aforementioned "assassin loners" to snuff you out or send out special "assassination squads" to take you out.
These squads would consist of 2-3 bandits clad in black and armed with rifles fitted with scopes and silencers(probably abakans/ak-74's/SA 80s) . They would only operate at night.
Let me know what you think in concept and I'll write something more detailed out soon.
I think it's a great idea and fits perfectly in the mood of a period where the factions haven't really been formed yet.
Besides, it makes the game more "realistic" when you can't simply tell by one look "Oh, he must be evil because he's wearing a black jacket and sporting a backpack with a ganja symbol on it".
I'm thinking of radically altering the way Loners/Bandits work in Way of the Wolf. Thoughts?
Have bandits be much more organized and have an actual hierarchy with bandits usurping other bandits. Also, have loners act as bandits to bandits, to add a moral gray zone.
In bandit camps, one guy should always be on watch and one on patrol around the camp.

Basically 1.
Explaining it very simply, making it so that on first sight you can't really tell between Loners and Bandits, with both factions sharing outfits and weaponry. Randomly-hostile based on factors like whether your gun is out when you meet them etc.
Let me know what you think in concept and I'll write something more detailed out soon.
Just make it so that regular stalkers never wear trenchcoats and I'll be fine
They're bandit trademark outfits and no self-respecting stalker would wear them anyway or he would get shot
Well the idea would be to totally challenge the way the player thinks and basically start fresh in that area, ignoring the other games - why would bandits have a shitty pseudo-faction, permanently-poor weaponry and highly obvious outfits?

I thought they weren't going to use x-ray, maybe I'm confusing it with something else.
Does anyone have the installer for Stalker online so I don't have to use the torrent?
WHY HAVEN'T I PLAYED ANY OF THE STALKERS IN OVER A YEAR
Guess I played them to death all ready :v:
So Thorny, in Redux what purpose do the empty match boxes/whistles/PDAs/Magnifying Glasses etc. serve?
They're just there to increase immersion a little bit. They can also be sold for a little bit of cash, but in Redux, every RU counts ;)
[editline]31st May 2011[/editline]
Also, goodnight Stalkers!
I loved playing Redux.
I wonder why they never mentioned anything about "The Elephant's Foot" in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. They could have done so many cool things with it
"The Elephant's Foot", a formation of reactor core lava in Chernobyl* which was so radioactive, just looking at it would kill you on the spot◊. That kill-you-when-you-look-at-it bit sounds like a bunch of BS.
And holy shit, I just realized your avatar moves.

Might just be a deadly dose of radiation.
Nah, something that has slight radiation and sets off an anomaly detector but when you look at it gives off large amounts of radiation. If you don't have protection then it irradiates you pretty quick, if you do, you can look for a moment. Either way, the only thing to do is not look at it and make your way through the lab or whatever until you are past it.
Might just be a deadly dose of radiation.
But only emitting it if you set your eyes on it?
Of course, I'm no expect in physics but that sounds very unlikely.

Oops, I did not see that get mentioned at all :v:

Some parts of your anatomy are more resilient to radiation than others. He was probably running around in one of those crappy radiation suits without a mask too so his face would be even more vulnerable. It'd be radiation all the time, just looking at it makes it worse.
[editline]31st May 2011[/editline]
Or just being within looking distance is lethal enough, if you look at it or not.

The eyes are extremely sensitive to radiation.

It's in the game actually. You'll find it in the Agroprom Underground (and maybe in the CNPP too).
