I think the soup has corrupted at least two hundred saves for me.
I just played Shadow of Chernobyl and I want a stalker game now. Which one should I get, or all of them? Is clear sky worth getting?
Just waiting for authorization now on a WotW article wherein I fully explain my ideas about bandits! I am proud to have sold three copies of some of the best games ever.
Am I mysterious oldfag of STALKER Megathreads now [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] Thorny when is ~way of the wolf~ gonna be released
I finally read the story that inspired STALKER. It's called Roadside picnic by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky and I felt like I was reading a STALKER fanfic, it was very interesting though.
Back in the day I bought myself a radeon 4870, and it came with a game. I just found it... It's Clear Sky! Can you guys tell me how it is different than SoC? I am gonna install it tomorrow. :v:

I am gonna install it tomorrow. :v:
It's a decent S.T.A.L.K.E.R game but GSC made some very disturbing decisions with the game. First thing you'll notice is that the pistols don't have ironsights. Secondly, the pistol bullets disappear into thin air after flying approx 50 meters. Also, the assault rifles have terrible cone of fire effect making them almost unusable in the unmodded game unless their accuracy is fully upgraded(which costs money and locks you out of other upgrades most of the time). The Faction Wars system is... well, some say it's broken because you can never truly 'defeat' a faction since they'll always come back (I wasn't bothered with it because hey, more things to shoot at) and your allies sometimes glitch out and don't help you take the objectives. Also, the Faction Wars system comes with a heavy price tag since it effectively replaces ShoC's A-life system and GSC made a terrible decision to mark all enemy, friendly and neutral squads(even mutants)on the PDA map so it's way less immersive and it feels too gamey for my tastes. Apart from the Faction Wars, nothing is really happening in the game world so there aren't really much unique situations like when the army attacks the rookie base in Vanilla or mercenaries or the army attack the Rostok bar, that kind of stuff. But it's a good game nonetheless. When you eventually get to Call of Pripyat, you might get a few "Hey, I know that bro!"-moments from Clear Sky and if you're like me and love the human-on-human combat of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise you'll definitely have fun with Clear Sky, at least for one playthrough. Also, the difficulty is brutal compared to Call of Pripyat, which is complete babbymode compared to CS even on Master difficulty.
also, in way of the wolf, will there be bandit gangs that sometimes fight each other? it's strange how in games bandits are always "HEY YOU KILL AND ROB RANDOM PEOPLE? ME TOO, WE SHOULD BE BROS FOREVER"

So is WotW story based or freeplay?
We're designing it around free-play, but there'll be a storyline you can follow if you choose to.
Hopefully it'll keep Wolf as a less known stalker. I never liked the thematic of becoming a famous stalker in the games. I wanna see how being one of the regulars would be like.
Hmm I seem to be just getting a black screen on OL 2010 after I kill the burer and pickup the documents in X18. No crash report just. Nothingness. Any ideas?
quicksave and quickload

I think making them randomly hostile would be best option. Although just throw a stalker suit on them at random and allow loners to wear bandit outfits as well. That way you can just hammer in the idea in that bandits are really just random loners.

The only other thing I'd like to see in WotW is more variety among stalkers outfit wise. Seeing people wear the same shit all of the time for the past 3 games has really been a bummer.

Bed? Hah! It's only five in the morning!
Hey guys, remember patch 1.0008? I'm going to attempt to make it work on English DB files by repacking them in the Russian format. If it works, I'll whip up a batch script so anyone curious can try it themselves without acquiring a Russian copy! Maybe we'll even be able to make an English translation (Shouldn't be hard, as it doesn't seem to modify anything except multiplayer files.)
Isn't there a red identification on someone when they are hostile? They don't show up on your minimap whereas friendlies do? Wouldn't that mean at first glance you couldn't tell but getting within a certain distance gives it away?
That requires 1. A crosshair. Don't tell me you play stalker with crosshairs? 2. A minimap. See above.
I've played so many mods where the red dots on the minimap are disabled it's weird for them to be on.
updating the stalker bros pic [editline]2nd June 2011[/editline] for real this time
did you remember to put me in it? Or was I left out because I was only a regular poster in 2 of the threads beforehand?
Fission mailed. It didn't work. Ah well.
i should be in the stalker bros pic as a rookie looking down the barrel of a shotgun plz
