RPS suggested this when FC3 was announced. I also agree that it would be an incredible game
However I also believe that STALKER isn't STALKER without the xray engine, and the various GSC exclusive weird shit. Also I can't even imagine STALKER with correctly proportioned player models
I agree, eyes on the far side of the face like fish and massive boots are awesome. (Not sarcasm I'm serious it really adds a layer of complex weirdness to stalker.)
Does Redux add territories to CoP?
Does Redux add territories to CoP?
WoTW does, or RCOM or Smarter Pripyat
Someone is confusing me to hell saying that Martha aka the Beretta can only be found on Bullet's partner is SoC though I've found that gun many times before leaving Garbage
Someone is confusing me to hell saying that Martha aka the Beretta can only be found on Bullet's partner is SoC though I've found that gun many times before leaving Garbage
Most of the expirienced stalkers use it.
I'm pretty sure it is a rare drop along with being directly obtained by Bullet's partner guy in SoC. In the other games it is much more common.
X18 scared the poop out of me. I expected mutants but I did not expect ghosts
They were ghosts? I just got out of those floating blue things way.
If your looking for realism on a higher level, more weapons and a different altogether stalker experience, play Lurk, if you just want the same game but an upgraded less glitch version that's exactly the same in gameplay regards (besides different trading, weapon repair and sleep) then go Complete. I recommend complete if you feel you liked the original but it was a bit iffy, lurk if you want more difficulty and immersion.
I played Lurk for most of Cordon, just about to leave for Garbage. Wasn't really enjoying it though. Seemed way too easy, enemies hardly hit, and I could put enemies down with 1 shot (which is good, but I would expect to have the same resilience). Also, the bloom is insane. I like bloom, but when you start... well.. you'll see.
You can amass a small fortune in Cordon just by selling guns (they sell for about 10 times the price of vanilla) and the only thing to do with Artifacts is sell them or hand them in for "missions", since I can't find any way to equip them. Also, Artifacts sell for insanely high prices. You can buy some of the best weapons and armour from the very first trader in Cordon once you have done a few missions. It just seemed really unbalanced to me.
Whereas complete, it is hard. No night vision with the first few suits you can afford (I don't recall if this was the norm in vanilla, but I know I had night vision from the start in LURK). Guys don't spot you from half way across the map, nor is their aim perfect, but one or two well placed shots will take you down (I am playing with the realistic weapon mod as well - increase accuracy and damage). Can take down most enemies with a headshot. I've just got the mission to go into Dark Valley.
Outside graphics look way better in Complete... inside however, I did like the vibrance of LURK, but even inside, there is so much bloom.
Sleep is a worthwhile addition to complete. As are the weather effects and new HUD.
This is only my second playthrough of Stalker, so I might give Lurk another try after finishing complete.
-snip-
Are you serious? In lurk I get into 30 minute firefights and more often then not I lose. In complete I just strolled around shooting things like it was a call of duty game or something. Plus lurk at night = your fucked if you get in a fight
Complete at night = You get the first shot at the enemies.

Here's more Tales from the Zone With GuyWithTheName
Okay, so I was doing some odd jobs in the wilderness, and I had built up quite a lot of loot.
So, after escorting Kruglov I returned to pick up some of my stash and sell it off, and did so.
Upon returning I encountered a group of loners now occuping the entrance area, which coincidentally helped me meet Master, the exoskeleton wearing stalker I had been hired to kill.
I save my game and gun him down, but then get turned upon by Barin and pals who were nearby.
Re-loading, strangely a group of bandits emerge through the entrance en-masse and a firefight breaks out, with me picking off both sides and when the battles over, I sell off some of the loot and return to pick up my stash.
This time, confident I wouldn't have to much trouble I brought just my P99 silenced.
So upon returning I pick up the some of the weapons scattered around the area, and then suddenly half a dozen bandits enter the area - again.
It's pitch black and I have to use some half health cruddy weapon a victim of mine had dropped.
After twenty minutes of painstakingly shooting and barely visible muzzle flashes and miniscule headlamps I finish them off and I sort through some of the bodies to see if I can locate some ammo.
Finished I turn to the exit and *RAWR* Bloodsucker yells right at my face and rushes me, causing me to panicingly empty my last clip into it.
I pull out my pistol and start firing, and it falls - only to have two dozen rodents rush me, out of the dark with me over the carring capacity and bearing only a pistol.

Fuck you Zone, Fuck you.
So yeah, played CoP with Redux yesterday and I took out a chimera with seven rounds from my as val and a rdg-5 grenade.
Fourteen rounds was all the ammo I walked out of the laundromat with, earlier that day. Also killed some zombies at about two hundred meters with three rounds.
But that chimera fight was goddamn epic.

Fuuuuck. Okay so I crashed when I tried to exit to windows and my computer rebooted. It's happened three times before, and the windows error report told me it was a driver issue. Now I can't start stalker because it's giving me errors
http://i.imgur.com/hoEob.png
and I have the error report but I don't know what to paste. Help!

I got that from ctrl+V
Someone please help I really want to play stalker and I am unable to.
Went to the bars yesterday, chatted with some polish teenagers. I gave them info on beers, they gave me a free beer and weed. Then I went home.. on foot, alone.
Good morning, Stalkers! I feel destroyed.
Morning, storyteller!
We just had a lot of beers and vodka. No hangover, I never get a hangover. :smug:
3,5 liters of beer. :smith:
I feel it necessary to promote Sgt. Doom's mod again. If you are playing SoC, AND HAVE COMPLETED IT AT LEAST ONCE IN VANILLA, you must either play AMK, AMK:SE, or Sgt. Doom's mod. Enough with this 'complete' blasphemy.
god damn it, no more vodka in my family's liqour stash.
How am I supposed to protect myself from all the radiation that's emmited from electronics now? Those PSA brainwashers will kill me. :saddowns:
Why so sad, bro?
My Goldfish has turned into a shoddy Jellygish. :smith:

Looks like the mod has fucked up, and the error isn't much help.
Looks like the mod has fucked up, and the error isn't much help.
Okay so how do I reinstall. I have a backup of my save games. Also is it possible to reinstall without re-downloading?
Uninstall the mod by deleting the gamedata folder in your SoC directory, and the game obviously through the usual Windows way.

This is with steam? I'm uninstalling the mod now...
My Goldfish has turned into a shoddy Jellygish. :smith:
Oh. :smith:
I tell 'ya what, go to the Pripyat river with a fishing rod and get one of those mutant catfishes. Those last a hell of a long time!
Fuck me, redownloading SoC now. This better fucking work. -_-
[editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
So, while I'm waiting I may as well try make some artifact gifs in call of pripyat...
No I mean my... GOLDFISH :q:
This is with steam? I'm uninstalling the mod now...
Yeah mods work the same way Steam or not. Uninstall through Steam if you have SoC on that.

Hey, what are you two do- :gonk:
You know what would be pretty cool, guys? More prototype weapons. Get some laser rifles up in this bitch
I really don't want S.T.A.L.K.E.R to turn into Fallout so laser rifles and that sort of shit would suck out all immersion so bad. In fact, the sheer number of high-end weaponry in the Zone is sort of disturbing me.
I don't mean it should be all Mosin-Nagants and SKSs but there's definitely something wrong with practically anyone getting their hands on prototype rifles that are rare as hell (like the LR-300).
However, I would like if by doing certain quests, you could affect a faction's armament.
For example, let's imagine an army warehouse full of military-grade shit, VALs,pimped-out Grozas and Skat-9M armours. There's a mission where you're supposed to (preferably) quietly scout that base and locate something else. If you happen to pass by the warehouse in a manner that lets you see the equipment stored inside, you'll get a note in your PDA diary, encouraging you to bring it up with the barkeep or faction leaders.
You could sell the info about the warehouse to a faction for :
A high sum of money and artifacts but you gain little or no standing with that faction unless you also help them out with the raid
A mediocre sum of money/artifacts but you gain more standing with them
A paltry sum of money, gaining huge standing with them.
After that you'd be asked to join the raid, which you can decline if you wish. Should you accept, you could choose to lead the squad, pick any role in the assault (Sniper,Demolitions,Automatic Rifleman,Rifleman roughly) and the time of the attack. You could also go in solo should you choose so.
If the raid is successful, the faction will start brandishing much more powerful armours(faction versions of the military armoured suits) and high-end army weapons. The number of their veterans will increase.
Should the player sell it to the Barkeep however, every faction will slightly increase their armament(well, except the monolith).
You could also sell them to what seems like a Merc trader who will offer much more for the info than any other faction. They also won't take you in for the raid. Should you choose this option, a huge Monolith force will attack the army outpost at night, slaughtering everybody and setting up a base there.
After that incident, the Monolith patrols grow really strong and are brandishing Monolith versions of the Bulat armour and armed with everything from PKMs to VSS rifles.
What do you think :v: ?
