[editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Goddamn new page
Leon was a good stalker(kind of), let's drink to him once more. Jaimie was okay, but he kind of acted as a douche because some of the guys here didn't like SMP 2.4.
Dezodor is a regular on the #StalkerDev IRC channel and he said yesterday they're currently testing the storyline for map number eight, almost ready to move onto nine.
9 out of 25 maps. Christ.
Also since I held up stalker for a month or so, I can totally get into it. I even got That feeling. I don't know if someone else gets it, but I can get this feeling sometimes, when I'm playing stalker and it works like this: I get into some old save or start up a new one, and after a while I get this creeping feeling that something is not right, I want to play something and I don't know what. Then the realisation flows over me like a bucket of ice cold water down my back; I want to play stalker, while playing stalker. It's so good that I want to play it even while playing it. And I suddenly realise that this is the best game I have ever played and probably ever will play. Chills ensue. Only happens in SoC.
If you're not on patch 1.0005, get it. Did you enabled the use of the gamedata folder in fsgame.ltx?
Thanks bro, it worked. I knew I was missing something. :buddy: On a side note, holy crap L.U.R.K is completely different.
SoC kind of sucks you in like a vaccum cleaner if you play it for a long period of time in a single day. It's a painful ride, but it's all rainbows and butterflies on the inside of the vaccum cleaner, so it pays off.
How do I go through those Critical PSI Emissions areas without losing loads of health on the way?
How do I go through those Critical PSI Emissions areas without losing loads of health on the way?
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about you'll need to get a special helmet from the scientists.
How do I go through those Critical PSI Emissions areas without losing loads of health on the way?
What game? In SoC you need to get the Psi-Protection device from Sarkhaov in the main questline. In CS you need to get a suit with a high psychic protection level. It won't work on the entrance to Red Forest East. In CoP you can get some psi-resistant pills or you can upgrade your equipment to have a better psi-protection level.
If you're talking about what I think you're talking about you'll need to get a special helmet from the scientists.
Well I was there and they mentioned nothing about it, the doctor just gave me a mission to go get a some suit from the laboratory which is inside the section that has the PSI emission thing. Man up and play STALKER with headphones in the dark it's a once-off experience.

But the controllers.........man!
Still disappointed that I wasn't in that picture, but then again, I never really asked to be. Oh, missed opportunities!
Can I be in that picture but can you draw me so that I look like Will smith thanks.
Hey guys who played Redux or a mod of similar difficulty... how do you do it? Because, hell, I've only installed it 2 or so hours ago and all this chest hair is already getting on my nerves.
You drink some concrete and harden the fuck up.

Btw, is Kruglov still alive ?
He is, I helped him out all the way before going directly into Yantar, I went there later and he's inside that building where the doctor is. He doesn't offer anything to me, I just have a 'See you.' option with him.
You got sumting, speell de beenz, if not, take a hike
300 new posts, what in fuck happened.
Holy crap, just tried out L.U.R.K, difficult as hell and I only played on STALKER difficulty. I'm gonna play through SoC normally and on my second playthrough I'll do L.U.R.K.
300 new posts, what in fuck happened.
Stalker 2 screens.
Hey guys who played Redux or a mod of similar difficulty... how do you do it? Because, hell, I've only installed it 2 or so hours ago and all this chest hair is already getting on my nerves.
Basically : Think of how would you act if you were in the real Zone. 1: Plan out your actions before embarking on a raid 2: Start by hanging out in the immediate vicinity of Skadovsk, gearing up by picking the scraps left by deceased stalkers 3: Don't take stupid risks. If you see a pack of dogs and you aren't packing a shotgun, it's best to take the long way to avoid them. 4: Let the human(oid) enemies come relatively close before you start shooting. Even zombies can kill you at relatively long ranges in Redux. 5: Don't get greedy. When you've found good loot, take it to the Skadovsk instead of risking all the loot for a little bit more. 6: Don't overload yourself with useless junk. With the new weight limit you'll really learn what is useful gear and what's not. Shotguns are even better in Redux earlygame since every shot counts and when you loot an enemy, you're as likely to get 9 buckshot as 9 5.45 with Redux's drop rates. 7: Prepare for your operations correctly : when going out at nighttime, either pack night goggles or NV scope for your rifle. The use of silencers is also recommended because personal experience has shown that the enemy actually has a harder time locating you when you use them. 8: Don't sleep the night away. Sleeping in the earlygame is a waste of food. Learn to embrace the night and hunt for zombies while other stalkers are asleep. Hang out with bandits because they provide distraction for the dogs and other pests you might encounter. Btw, you aren't using any quicksaves, right? Quicksaving kills the excitement of Redux and other manlymodo-mods and leaves only the frustration.
So, when is it acceptable to save? Once per day and when leaving the game?
Save inside the safe houses as much as you want. Losing progress due to accidentally dropping your favourite gun through the floor or game crashing isn't fun. Neither is redoing inventory management and trading you already did . Doing this feels like re-discovering the real S.T.A.L.K.E.R experience all over again. Call of Pripyat : Redux is a perfect candidate to do save-limiting runs in because it's relative openness and the lack of "oops, game crashed/ran into an anomaly" kind of YASDs . Not to mention of constant threat of blowouts and hostile mercenaries attacking you. Basically it's not quicksave-quickload-spam but there is a constant and real threat to your life that Redux captures perfectly. Also, you'll feel gratification when you find yourself doing deeper and deeper raids to the Zone, learn to "read" the Zone and pick up whole new survival tactics. This is what playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R should feel like.

[editline]12th June 2011[/editline] That is I only had seven bullets with me, couldn't be arsed to restock when that's easily seven human kills.
Talking about Redux makes me think of this always, has someone ever completed the entire game (done all the main quests) in the Redux mod with no cheating/trainers?
