Wayne was born in a small rural city. His family consisted in his parents and his grandmother, a tough farmer, who endured a lifetime of abuse from her husband.
Wayne’s grandfather died before he was born, but every story his mother and grandmother tell portraits him as scum. An alcoholic, abusive man who spent nearly all of the money he earned as a lumberjack on bars and whores and beat his wife regularly, even going as far as raping her.
Wayne’s grandmother was a self-sustenance farmer, made strong by her husband’s violence. She had a daughter and a son. Her son died from a fever when he was 1-year-old. She had to bury him herself as the father didn’t want to pay for a slot at the graveyard, and she never managed to forget the single wooden plank marking Joshua’s grave in the wood near their home.
Eventually, she and her daughter, who was then 6-years-old, managed to run away from him, escaping with the help of her neighbors to another town. When the husband found out about this, he got into a fight with the man of the family, but he only discovered where she was when his daughter, after getting married, went looking for him.
She found him living in the streets, begging for money, not far from the bar he used to go to. He begged to go live with her and her mother, but Rose, the old lady, refused, and Mary, her daughter, couldn’t afford to buy a new house, so she settled with giving him 10% of her husband’s monthly pay, as was agreed by the couple.
He eventually got lost in the woods, after getting drunk, and died, a corpse was found 2 months later, holding on to Joshua’s tombstone.
Wayne was born in a much better environment than Mary did. He attended school for 10 years until he was forced to drop out and get a job after his father died in an accident at the factory he worked in. 8 months later, Mary got tuberculosis and died. Wayne and Rose were alone.
The teenager started a farm and maintained it, following his grandmother’s indications, as well as working as a bricklayer.
The boy got older and developed a taste for photography, spending his free time in the local library, reading books on all sorts of subjects, more interested on the pictures than on the content, but he still retained some of the content. He especially liked biology and physics books, they had the best photos.
When Rose, after a long life of hard work, died, he died to pursue his dream of being a photographer, he had heard stories of the Zone and its magnificent phenomena, what could propel him further than a photograph of a Chimera?
As such, he sold everything he had, except some supplies, a gun and a camera with some film and he bought a one-way trip to Ukraine, never looking back.
His time spent working as a brick layer and on his farm gave him great physical strength and endurance, and having to sustain himself and his grandmother bestowed upon him a great sense of responsibility, patience and generosity.

It will do.
If anyone's interested there's a new WotW screenshot up on ModDB.
Looks promising, how much percent are they done yet?

I couldn't even say. Not much. I'm doing my best though, so when it's done, it'll have been worth the wait :)

"The Outpost, huh" ?
I'm loving it.
It also showcases how the Ukrainian army is too poor to even afford heating in their barracks bulldings apparently :eng99: . Or then they're just burning trash in that barrel.
It also kind of baffles me that there won't be any "grunt" type enemies since it's kind of weird to have "elite" spetznaz units as gate guards..
Hopefully they will return in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2,albeit with a little variation to their faces so it won't look like they're all clones.
I think making the army more "human" opponent would bring an interesting dynamic to S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 since we were in the military in Call of Pripyat and were introduced to members of the military who aren't presented as total jerkwads.
I have no doubts that they'll wear the mantle of the enemy in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 but it's hard to think of them as the bad guys since we just spent a game in their combat boots, fighting side by side against the Monolith.
In fact, one of the things I absolutely loved in Shadow of Chernobyl was that no faction is eviiiiiiiil, or at least cartoonishly so. When I'm playing Call of Pripyat and observe a squad of Mercs through the scope of my SVD, I sometimes ponder for a while whether I should let them go instead of pulling the trigger. Of course, Call of Pripyat is a video game so 6 times out of ten I end up pulling the trigger (if my ammo count allows) but when I'm truly immersed in the game, I often choose to avoid conflict.
I had a little (well, more than a "little") culture shock with Call of Pripyat due to the low count of firefights but it was also the most "mature" S.T.A.L.K.E.R game in regards to your interaction with the NPC's and the way you can influence the gameworld with your decisions.
I did not notice it at first but I was kind of amazed just in how many ways your decisions and actions change the game world, yet you wouldn't notice that at first if you would just run through the game.

Thanks.
The guys at the outpost aren't Spetsnaz in the slightest, you'll find Spetsnaz deeper in the Zone though ;) We're looking at using more military models either way.
You all might be pleasantly surprised when you encounter the military in WotW. It'll be.. refreshing.

Will it actually be less random/out of the ass than in SoC?

Stalker mods have proved to be worth waiting for in past.
Muukis you make some good points. I'm really hoping we can capture that feeling of a dynamic world with WotW. And yeah, the military are going to be fun to interact with.
Will you be able to negotiate with the military? I'm preety sure that most of the soldiers that stepped into The Zone don't want their day to be ruined because they accidentally ran into a stalker squad on their way to a random objective. Except maybe military stalkers, but that's self explenatory, they're used to fighting in The Zone.

Didn't he already say you could join the military? Or at least work for it?
Maybe a S.T.A.L.K.E.R game stream every once in a while, with a short news section at the start (if there indeed are any news.

THIS WEEK, IN THE ZONE!
On the style of pre-Television news reels.
It will do.
Well you certainly went deep into the history of the character I see. Now I hope, for your sake, that this thing gets rolling.

Oh yes, bi-curious grunts, tasers, and a lot of duct tape.
GMod S.T.A.L.K.E.R. RP.
What I never understood is why enemies would never surrender to you. You could have killed all 30 of his gang members, but he will still valiantly fight to the end over a mountain of corpses.

He didn't really talked that much about the character.

Yea, they could have implemented the run away/retreat system far better.

Because he wants to be the Greatest Bandit Ever!

Referencing one of Raisk's comics.
I'm finally ready to start the actual merging, fuck.

Why would they surrender, exactly ? Basically if bandits surrender, they're facing either execution or they're forced to fight in the arena. Or maybe in some special cases they could be traded for hostages taken by other bandits if they happen to be in the same gang, anyway.
Retreat to live another day? Sure. Throw your gun away and plead for mercy? Maybe give you some rubles or an artifact in exchange of their life?
Actually, that would be quite interesting if there was a chance they could fool you and pull out a Makarov. I know I would give some of them a chance, particularly if they have fought well.
TFW vs reloaded which animation is best for these weapons?
LR300
PKM
SVD
SVU
I think this surrender mechanism would be of Paravin's liking.
The SVD animations has to always be the vanilla one
