I will be keeping an eye on this, DF is awesome and I've always wanted to try similar games from an isometric view, this looks pretty cool.
First kingdom died out in 4 days. Now I'm on the ninth day of my second kingdom, doing a lot better. Right now I just want a way to precisely pinpoint where I want my crates and barrels. There's 10 crates in the stockpile that holds planks and blocks, and zero in the stockpile that holds food. Now a huge hall can take 40 strawberries or apples, and it feels a bit stupid :v:
God dammit, can't buy this till late tonight. I have no money in my bank so my mother's giving me it and she's at work till 8PM :smith:
Nope, not at all. Not even close, just basic hack and slash.
Still, has that hilarious in-depth information on how the fights go, at least to some degree. One of my woodcutters just sliced a goblins eye with his axe, blinding and killing it. And these gnomes are pretty hardcore. One of my miners got her both legs, her left arm and her ribs smashed by some other goblin, yet there she goes, mining like crazy. Goddamn it woman, now she's bleeding all around my dining hall
Okay, time to go beg on the streets for few hours.
Uh, it seems that the dev's webpage / payment service was suspended. Damn.
Oh boy. At this point all we need is a roguelike with elves and then we'll be back to humans all over again.
Damn, I was just about to purchase it...
Really fun game, though I wish I had a manual, never played Dwarf fortress. The wiki at least has some help.
The top right workshop is the tailor, making bandages on repeat. The corpse right next to it is Gno's. Had he lasted even a few seconds longer, he'd still be with us. All the blood on the corridor is his, so I'm guessing it was a horrible experience, stumbling towards the tailor with the last of his strength, being ignored by everyone else.. Just to die next to the woman making the bandages. Who had her mind filled with beer I don't know if it was karma or what, but the tailor woman bled to death right after Gno. Still, he went out in style I wish we could hold funerals. Gno deserves one fit for even gods.
Okay, time to go beg on the streets for few hours.
Fuck it, nobody gave me money... I just sat there with my guitar, people asking why am I not playing anything, I told them that I cant... That brings me to a question... Why the hell do I even have a guitar?
Sell the guitar.
Wait, why didn't I think of that?
Fucking goblins are horrible. One killed 5 of my gnomes, he then fucked off and bled to death somewhere else. Hope it was painful, the little green cunt.
Just bought the game : ). Is it really hard to get started or should I just wing it?
Just bought the game : ). Is it really hard to get started or should I just wing it?
Make sure to check the wiki on "Getting Started", it will greatly help you.
The random world name generator's first suggestion was 'The Terrible Kingdom'. Way to put faith in me, Gnomoria.
This game is cruel. I dug a mountain like... All of it, not a single lump of stone... Well, the name of the map IS stonelessvomit so what did I expect.. AND NOW THIS HAPPENED A FUCKING TSUNAMI!
So is this basically the replacement for DF? I can't learn DF, it's just way too fucking hard to learn, but the combat system is hilarious and awesome. Is this the kind of game for me then?
I'd say it's a easier Dwarf fortress, but it lacks content that dwarf fortress currently has (Of course this is just an Alpha).
I'm eagerly waiting for this. "If my dwarves can't be mauled to death by a wool shoe artifact made out of the silk of Zaxhalt' shelob, made by the dwarf Urist McTailor, engraved with an image of The Werewolf Kief Nigaft, and said shoe being wielded by the son of said werewolf, who's enacting revenge on the descendants of Urist McAxelord, slayer of Kief Nigaft, then I do not want to have any part on it."
I dug a mountain like... All of it, not a single lump of stone... Well, the name of the map IS stonelessvomit so what did I expect..
I get the opposite, whenever I dig into a mountain I find stone after like three blocks... takes fucking forever to dig out and start up the workshops and such. I was in the middle of making them bedrooms when all of them pretty much fell asleep on the floor at the same moment because it took forever to dig out the rooms. :v:
Just played the demo for a little bit. This seems like a game I could definately get into.
Played the demo straight through to the time limit, definitely gonna be buying this
I'd love to get this, but due to lacking financial aid and nobody wanting to hire college students for the summer (still trying though), I have no money. I COULD however trade Portal 1 for it? Or Nuclear Dawn? If somehow it could be organized to trade for Gnomoria somehow, that'd be grand.
Oh hell yes.
My gnomes keep dying of thirst when they're told to remove floors and the other gnomes just don't want to help them.
I'd say it's a easier Dwarf fortress, but it lacks content that dwarf fortress currently has (Of course this is just an Alpha).
Could you point out a few examples on what DF has over this? I'm definitely going to give it a spin.. Even if you do control filthy, degenerate gnomes!

Even if you do control filthy, degenerate gnomes!
I didn't exactly play Dwarf fortress for long, but Dwarf fortress has a lot more bad stuff. Dwarf Fortress also has a very very large map to promote exploration, Gnomoria is locked into an average size map. There's also a lot more professions and crafting depth in Dwarf fortress. It's rather complicated for me to explain, I'm not a DF fan per se. I never took the time to learn it completely. This is basically a more accessible version in its alpha state. Dwarf fortress has a few years of development ahead of it.
Is there anyway to see why something is not building? I told them to build a brewery and it just sat there unfinished forever. I finally figured out that I needed more planks.
