Also, how do I rotate the view
Press "," or "."
God, every time I try to dig the floor parts of some hill, trying to level it, the miners get stuck. They just stand there till they die. Kind of game breaking.
you can build a path of floor to let them out
you can build a path of floor to let them out
Don't tell me it's because there's no floor :v:
Goddamn it, why do you little shits care if it's mud or grass you're walking on.
They won't build a room if they have no access to it or they have other more important things to do.
The Isometric view is okay, though it is quite hindering when you want to look at something in the South corner. The biggest problem is the 20 pixel difference between layers.
Press f and the walls will be shorter so you can see the whole room at once

You do realize the absurd amount of calculations and shit going on in DF, right?
Wouldn't call him a genius with how "good" dwarf fortress runs on most machines.
If genious is an overstatement then i'd say pretty smart, he's got a math Ph. D.
Speaking of crates, is there a way to move them to a specific stockpile?
Limit the number of crates at certain stockpiles, so they'll be forced to bring the crates to another stockpile.
That's the only way so far, probably later you'll be able to place them like furniture.

Thank you, I didn't know about the hotkey.

You should see them when you're trying to remove the floor underground. I asked a miner to remove the floor of the great all the change it to something prettier. What happened is that he went to a wall, dig the east, south and west floor and got stuck there. I had to build a floor next to him to he could go take a drink.
When removing floors, you have to make sure that they cannot get stuck by just removing a single line at once.
Well fuck this, I built a nice bunker out of Lapis, like used 3-4 hours just designing it, it was impenetrable almost! Well guess how I died? My fucking Gnomes decided to stop drinking... Hundreds of liters of milk and water just laying around, everyone complaining about thirst when I'm practically trying to shove the drinks at their face, alas, they did not care... Sleep well sweet gnomes... Sleep well...

I guess they thought only whiny little bitches drink milk or water. My gnomes drink, after all, only wine and beer.
They do drink water but only if there's no booze.
Better bet is to always make wine, they drink only that.

The problem here was that my gnomes said fuck it and didn't build a distillery either, I had all the resources etc but yeah... My gnomes were a bunch of asshats.

I'll give that a go, thanks.
Should make things a bit easier to control.

Well, if you want to make sure something is done, put the priority to 1. You'll have to do so quite often at times of need.
Okay I think I'm lost. How do bandages work? I got plenty but my gnomes never use them.
Okay I think I'm lost. How do bandages work? I got plenty but my gnomes never use them.
I don't exactly know, they usually use them, but sometimes they just keep on doing some work before healing themselves. The hospitals aren't in the game yet.

Well, third's time the charm. Finally got a good fortress going. Helped that I found copper at Depth:0.

How do you guys make floors like that? Not that I'm close to covering my dining hall with what seems to be copper and lapis but I'm curious... dig the entire room out and then place floors in patterns?

It'd be faster if worker could walk on areas with no floor, instead of pulling up a square, and realizing they've blocked themselves into a one way room.
Welp my save file is broken now after year 2 but I feel like I've seen everything so far. The game is fun as fuck but really lacks content right now. I'm looking forward to later versions of it.

I obviously have no idea how complex the code is and hard is it to program new stuff into this game, but since he seems to have most of the basics done already, I'd imagine adding new stuff wouldn't be that hard, or time consuming.
Haven't seen any update history logs or such, but I hope he updates the game at least once in a 2 to 4 weeks.
At first I really struggled with the lack of any sort of tutorial, but after about twenty minutes I was digging my base out Dungeon Keeper style, so much easier to get into than DF. I struggled to get hold of stone, but so far it's fun :)

You can check news on the website, he has been updating the game each week so far.

That's a lot faster than I thought. Gonna be great if he can keep up the pace.

I now regret buying it on Desura... their update system is so terrible. :suicide:
I've now got my guys a nice little mountain base with dirt flooring and plenty of stuff going on. One of my people randomly died which was a bit weird, would be cool to have a graveyard area to store bodies.
I wish there was a way to tell your gnomes exactly what resources to move away first, I don't care if there's a bit of soil in my hallway but it takes ages to make them get it away from my stockpiles.
Will probably be added though, can't imagine it won't.
