New save time! Is it actually worthwhile to make everybody their own private quarters, or should I just do a bit dorm and leave it at that?

Especially since you get new guys every season.
I now regret buying it on Desura... their update system is so terrible. :suicide:
What why exactly is it terrible? I bought it there too and you got me worried now.
What why exactly is it terrible? I bought it there too and you got me worried now.
It could just be me but whenever I try to update a game on there it first checks what files it has, after which it gets stuck and never updates, I have to painfully uninstall the game and install the new version each time. It's rather annoying.
I wish there was a way to tell your gnomes exactly what resources to move away first, I don't care if there's a bit of soil in my hallway but it takes ages to make them get it away from my stockpiles. Will probably be added though, can't imagine it won't.
Make a 1x1 stockpile for dirt right next to the stockpile you want emptied with priority 4 or so. they'll quickly charge at it and empty the room for you. Then, delete the stockpile and they'll bring the pile directly to the main stockpile.

Is there any negative effect to making your farms indoors?
Is there any negative effect to making your farms indoors?
Crops won't grow without direct access to sunlight, I think.
Crops won't grow without direct access to sunlight, I think.
From reading the official forums, they do. Some crops won't grow on dirt only and need grass, but most will grow anywhere, even underground.

Oh wow I need to get this. I've always wanted to play DF, but that shit's too complicated for me.
Bought it and it's pretty good so far. I'm not a fan of the music though.
I agree music's not the best at the moment.
Just mute it and play your own or something.
My entire population of 24 just died of thirst because they refused to build a distillery
My entire population of 24 just died of thirst because they refused to build a distillery
How did you get to 24 Gnomes without a distillery to begin with?
they're pretty shit at building anytime i try and build a workshop one guy starts piling up the supplies until about halfway through a bunch of guys swarm the pile and put everything back
How did you get to 24 Gnomes without a distillery to begin with?
I'm not sure, I think they must've been using yak milk for drink previously, because that's all I had to drink I think..
I keep a stockpile of bodies in the basement of my fortress it reminds me of all my failures
they're pretty shit at building anytime i try and build a workshop one guy starts piling up the supplies until about halfway through a bunch of guys swarm the pile and put everything back
That happened to me a few times as well, I think it's because they can't find enough supplies to finish the workshop. Can anyone confirm this? I'm not 100% sure.
I've seen my gnomes try building two workshops at once just swapping materials for a while.
Bah if only i had 4 extra dollars in the bank...son of a bitch.
I feel generous... PM me your email and I'll gift it to you, got some cash I'm not using on my paypal anyway and transferring it back to my bank would cost way too much for it to be worth it.

This game is damn great. I remember attempting Dwarf Fortress but I gave up pretty much right away when the linked "Starter tutorial" -video was like 1,5 hours long. This game's great, I quickly learned the UI and control schemes and got playing. Perhaps I should buy this, 6 days went by way too fast.
The battles in this game get pretty brutal towards the end. Gnomes start smashing throats and blood flies everywhere.
