I couldn't agree more.
While this is all frustrating for EU players, I completely understand the issue with Riot's scalability problems.
Basically, for those who don't know much about server hosting, Riot has basically exceeded the growth allowed by their current EU hoster (which doesn't surprise me after Dreamhack), meaning they can no longer purchase more computing power on demand without huge wait times for their hoster to buy new servers, better connections, etc.
So basically, without any choice, they're forced to split up EU onto two separated but more reliable and probably larger hosting companies which allow their growth to scale much, much higher.
What would you do if you were a company of about ~100 employees running servers that host 500,000 people (random number) and suddenly a week later you have to manage 750,000 people, and then million a week after that.
