• Hipster Steam - Hidden gems you've probably never heard of!

Altitude is a brilliant little arcade game, I consider it a hidden gem.
If you're moderately serious about gaming you should have already heard about more than 80% of those games.
The Tropico games are among the best dictator simulators I've played recently. http://store.steampowered.com/app/33520/
Divinity 2 http://store.steampowered.com/app/58540/ Think of it like the first Fable, except with more in depth RPG elements. Awesome game. Has one of the best OSTs I've heard in a game as well. Only bad thing is the DRM shit because the publisher were dicks to Larian and wouldn't let them take it off. Thankfully you can revoke the stupid activation shit.
It's hard to describe this game. You're a robot, you use your arms to hold physic objects and you shoot other robots with your ... uhm ... guns ... yeah! I don't know much to say about this game other than give the demo a try! It's kind of different.
I can vouch for this game, it was quite fun. The replayability is pretty poor, but the game itself is good fun and pretty non-linear if I remember right. Good fun for how little it is to buy.
Here are a few of my favourite "hidden gems". Everyday Genius: SquareLogic Faerie Solitaire Harvest: Massive Encounter Puzzle Bots Secret of the Magic Crystals Space Giraffe + GridRunner

did anyone see that game "Dreamkiller"? I looked at it and it looked like a painkiller ripoff. To lazy to post screens but its on steam.
did anyone see that game "Dreamkiller"? I looked at it and it looked like a painkiller ripoff.
"Half Life 2 is a Half Life 1 ripoff" Dreamkiller is from the same devs that made Painkiller Overdose: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mindware_Studios
Hammerfight! Such a brilliant little game, and it's only $2.50 during the summer sale. Basically you control what is essentially a flying barrel swings around swords and weapons. Serious fun.
DeathSpank and Evil Genius are amazing
Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines deserves a place on this list. http://store.steampowered.com/app/2600/?snr=1_4_4__13
get the user patches i forget what version its at but when i played recently it was like 7.5
If I heard of it it's too mainstream for me. I make my own games.
Played Eufloria a bit myself and it was fun, the best bit was playing with the normal music, and when I sent my little saplings out I played Death metal as they annihilated other saplings
Evil genius is an awesome game.
Since i already knew of most of these games, i guess i must be a hipster.
Recatear is pretty good.
I own Roboblitz, even though I don't ever remember actually buying it for my steam account. It's a great little game, if you know what you're doing when it comes to solving the puzzles it'll only take a couple hours, but in my opinion it's an awesome game, especially if it's on sale.
Recatear is pretty good.
My friend thought it was Racecutter until he actually saw the title up close.
Recatear is pretty good.
Finally, somebody who agrees with me.
Eufloria's getting a pretty big content update soon, fyi
Eufloria is great :) Also why didn't you mention Chime? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQrcHBjBhiI (How to embed a video?)
The guild 2 kept me going for quite sometime. It's a hash between the Sims and a business sim, you control a family and invest into various buildings such as a bar or a mine. Then do battle with opposing families.
For those of you who haven't played it, Sacrifice is one of the best RTS games I have ever played. That said, it's not an RTS in the traditional sense. You play in 3rd person perspective and your character is the "Commander" of an army you can create. The only resources to gather are souls and mana, both of which can turn the tide of battle. Souls are required to produce the monsters that fight alongside you, with higher level monsters requiring more souls. Mana is required to summon said monsters, and also to produce offensive and defensive spells. The gameplay is more or less a variant of territory control, with the final goal to sacrifice one of your monsters at the opponent's altar (basically their home base). If you perform a successful sacrifice, the other team is defeated. The maps range from 2-8 players, and these can be played either online or with bots. Plenty of additional maps are available for download, and there's a remarkably excellent singleplayer campaign to boot, complete with an intriguing story and INSANELY good voice acting. EDIT: There has been a fix, detailed below, for users of Windows 7 64-bit and NVIDIA cards. I can verify it works, so get to it! If you're interested, you can find the game for $2.99 on Good Old Games and $4.99 on Steam If your PC can still run it, I highly recommend you try it.
Get your tinfoil hats ready, because you represent an evil genius hidden in an underground base on an island, manupilating the whole world with your henchmen. You build a base, you hire slaves workers, you train them, you send them out into the world to accomplish missions and steal cash and valuable items. Of course you won't stay unnoticed when you shrink the Eiffel Tower and transport it to your island to decorate your base with it! That's why you have to deal with special agents and less special agents which you can either distract with a hotel on your island or they'll run straight into your evil traps before they wake up in a prison cell waiting to get tortured or end up as fried meat in a bodybag hanging inside your cooling chamber. Not free of bugs and the modding ability is limited but it's one of the best games I've ever played!
:colbert:

WARNING: This game does not perform well on modern machines. If you have Windows 7 64-bit and an NVIDIA card (like myself :gonk:), you're shit out of luck as the game won't run at all. http://downloads.guru3d.com/NVIDIA-I...load-2612.html 2) Open it and under driver version select profile settings (located in the middle of the program). 3) Then have the "_GLOBAL_DRIVER_PROFILE (Base Profile)" selected or you can make another one specialized for Sacrifice. (located at the top of the window you opened). Then click "add application current profile" and add the original sacrifice.exe. 4) Click "Scan Nvidia Predefined Profiles..." (located to the upper right hand side of the window) *Please Note*: If you can't do this then you must first click "Create a desktop shortcut to run profile settings" (located to the upper right hand side of the window) and run the shortcut then scan "Scan Nvidia Predefined Profiles..." 5) After you finish scanning, scroll down to the Unknown Section and look for the Setting ID "PRE_D3D9_COMPATIBILITY_BITS" and set the Value to "0x00000040 (King's Bounty, X2: Wolverine's Revenge, Independence War 2 - Edge of Chaos, Falcon 4.0 Allied Force, MS Flight Simulator X, Links 2003, Gothic 2, Gothic 1)" 6) Hit apply settings (located to the upper right hand side of the window) and run Sacrifice. I HOPE THIS UPDATE MADE YOUR DAY!!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy
Apparently this works
Roboblitz got quite a lot of press when it was new, since it was the first game to use UE3.
Someone add Zombie Shooter 2 to the OP, it's one of the best top down shooters of all time. actually all of the shooter series is....Just add all of them.
:colbert:
that flash game is pretty much nothing like evil genius
The mount & blade games are amazing. I have warband, and I've been playing it nonstop since I got it.
