I always found that really loud gun noises in games made the game more immersive; not blaring, but most games gun sounds are quieter than the voices, which really annoys me.
Best gun firing sounds i can find without being quieted down. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] Agree.
This is probably the first time that I've actually seen a real life muzzle flash.
The HL2 Pistol was easily one of the best examples of incredible, and powerful sounding weapons.
I liked the AK and G3. :(
new gun sounds, wip [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] gabe i would love your criticism pls criticize this thx babe
To be perfectly honest, they all sound pretty terrible. The M14 sounds low quiality as someone pointed out, and it cuts itself off too much when you're firing full auto. That smg sounds like a weapon from counter strike (which is a bad thing) The Makarov sounds more powerful than it ought to be, and doesn't sound like it's being fired outside. Needs a higher pitch and more pop and echo. The AK sound is really really bad. Not only does the initial firing sound like two cardboard boxes hitting eachother, but it cuts off instantly and has a totally inaudible echo. And the G3 just sounds like you're hitting a snare drum very lightly. It's got no power. The sounds I heard in the older videos were infinitely better. Like these ones:
.........Which are the Firearms Source sounds (I THINK)

i toyed with the sounds again but i will probably definitely re-do the G3 and the OTS-023 the AK, IMO, is pretty much solid (i tinkered with it a bit, gave it a bit more echo) because it sounds like the cinematic version of an AK being fired while still sounding like an actual assault rifle. I might toy with the echo again, though. note that i only used actual AK noises, anyway i admit i probably did not do the G3 right, i had a hard time with it anyway i messed with the m14 too, it personally didn't sound low quality to me before but i improved the sound a bit, the echo needs work, i'll admit if you guys want it to reverb, jlea's going to have to make some sort of ambient_generic thing instead of PlaySound()/EmitSound() [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] I think YouTube fucked with the quality anyway

it's a weird thing that's fucking up in audacity and i've been trying to fix it [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] parts of a sound file are not de-amplifying correctly [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] you can't really hear it though unless you listen carefully [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] or your speakers/headphones are superior to my $30 cheap shit antecs from 1999 [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] http://f.anyhub.net/3qej - m14 (SHOULD be fixed) http://f.anyhub.net/3qem - ak74 (if this is not fixed then fuck me) http://f.anyhub.net/3qer - uzi [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] they use the same shell drop, i will fix it [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] http://f.anyhub.net/3qeB fixed for ak
I could hear someone laughing with the m14 gunshots sound. No offence but a lot of the sounds sound more like more like a tube of metal hitting the ground in an empty warehouse then actually gunshots. Edit: The ak47 sounds like the gunshot was slowed down or something, actually, they all sound like there's some strectching
already fixed, i was trying to mess with the echo a bit but it was stupid [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] i am aware of the background noise problems, so don't tell me about those [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] i am not sure how i didn't completely remove the laughing thing though the first time
alright i've just skipped a lot of this thread but for the tactical vest model you might want to consider making the pouches or whatever larger, they appear to be too thin to fit a magazine in
Aurora, I love your other work and you're a good modder so don't take this personally, but those sounds are not good.
Aurora, I love your other work and you're a good modder so don't take this personally, but those sounds are not good.
but sparkwire is not a good rigger and he still rigs for g-con!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! don't worry i'll eventually get it right [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] i love how specific you're all being about criticism though, it's very helpful [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] let's see if i'm on the right track did i nail it? i wasn't sure if the ringing was necessary or not
Imo, it should be slightly louder and sharper, but I'm no expert.
needs more loud
It's getting there. Not sure if I like the ringing and it seems to be really quiet.
Ivan's Secrets Forever
It's going to be 3 pages to get the sound right for one gun.
It's going to be 3 pages to get the sound right for one gun.
Better sound = Better game. More immersion pl0x.
It's getting there. Not sure if I like the ringing and it seems to be really quiet.
It can be a quiet ringing, I remember once we were disassembling (read: destroying) some welding tables and one of my friends banged a piece a couple of times, and I had ringing in my ears for a good minute. The pitch and everything always sounded the same, it only got quieter over time. Another thing to note is if there should be ringing at all, since the PC is a ~mad operator~ he's probably wearing ear protection. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline]
Better sound = Better game. More immersion pl0x.
BC2 sounded amazing
Those are good sounds, but I highly suggest scrapping them, you can hear voices in the m14. It's not the reloading voice, it's much quieter.

The latest video has them too
I was watching a modeling tutorial on cgtuts about a knife and I noticed a guy had a folder named "Ivan's Secrets" in his 3d directory. Who is it?
Sound design is the most important part of shooting guns, IMO
don't ignore penis, he's right. I heard about you being completely dense to him. Stop it.
why does he shout "changing mags" if the whole idea of the game is a lone dude against baddies
Because coop
