How do you like TFW? I've been thinking about reinstalling clear sky.
I play CS with TFW 2.9 now and like it very much. Muuukis didn't mention it but you can hire NPCs as sidekicks (I have 2 now, dunno yet if more will come later), equip and give them rudimentary commands. It's a pretty good mod. [editline]16th June 2011[/editline]
Question about modding - most mods only seem to change the game parameters, textures and weapons, as well as the general interface and how the game works, while leaving the maps and stuff intact. Are there any Total/Partial Conversions that introduce new maps, or is it not possible in STALKER single player? Is there a map editor? I enjoyed playing around with Hammer a while back, and STALKER is my favourite game, I thought I'd muck around with mapping if possible.
For Shadow of Chernobyl, try the Priboi Story. Way of the Wolf is in the making.
Thanks :) I just bought clear sky last night, and am getting close to finishing SoC (just about to head into Pripyat), so I might play Priboi story after I finish SoC, since I hear it relates. Do you know of any modding tools? Map editor. I googled but only found stuff about how to make maps in Maya.
Urgh, damn Monolith blocking my path, I have a Scorcher to deactivate here! :argh: Also, the illusions are pretty challenging, they force you to watch your six or get buttraped and scared to death. :v:
was a tough decision for me, but I picked ecologists over freedom in the end.

Well played.
For Shadow of Chernobyl, try the Priboi Story
Is the Monolith still in garbage?
I removed a lot of things that were cluttering the OP, I'm a clean freak mr mayn. but don't worry, we all love you <3
:unsmith:
So, definitely no PnP? :smith:
More TFW goodness : Dat Yantar This bastard blocked me from trading with Sakharov for five full minutes. Eventually he realized it was time to take a hike, though. That Mosin . [editline] [/editline]Well, actually the model could be crap so who knows It focuses to the one good idea CS had : Faction Wars and it does it quite nicely. For one, you have a radio so you can control your squads :
you can call a squad from your base

you can call a local squad from the nearest checkpoint

you can order squads to go to certain locations if you talk to them

the squads are also limited so you can't just spam troops
Also, there's also a strategic element to TFW :
Some of the locations are places that bolster your troop reserves so your faction can support more squads on the field

Some of the locations serve as field HQ's so you can set up secondary bases apparently. The mercs for example don't get their faction trader before they capture one

Oh yeah, and you gain XP for killing dudes. I don't know what that does yet.
Other features :
There's a dynamic(?) news/message system kind of like AMK mod

You can ask NPC's for news and if they have seen enemies nearby

There is a Loners who are separate from the faction lead by Valerian who act as the "A-life" stalkers. They roam the maps and aren't hostile

NPC's can "call" loot. I had an encounter where a Merc warned me not to take a dead Dutyer's shotgun. I took it anyway but when I was going to sell it, he held me at gunpoint and demanded I give it to him. I could've tried to persuade him to snap out of it, but I didn't have enough authority or faction standing or something like that. It's certainly interesting.
I'm enjoying the hell out of it and I can easily say that if a polished Faction Wars system is your thing, you should definitely download it! I'm playing Clear Sky and having FUN with it. Shotguns are still terrible but bullet-firing guns are kind of okay. I only have the AK-74 (which I cannot upgrade strangely enough) and my Beretta so I can't say anything specific.
How advanced are you in whatever faction you're doing? I remember gaining a new base for one of my factions, and my faction leader started to go over there and stopped somewhere in between, becoming invincible but not moving. So the whole thing was bugged. (this was a while ago though, did it happen to you?)

Well, I am now playing TFW again. Boy has there been an improvement to the mod! 1. The whole reinforcement of new bases or outposts actually happens. I have yet to run into squads who get stuck and/or just plain don't arrive. 2. The new additions like the Mosin Nagant is a nice way to spruce up the mod. So far, it is a really nice gun early on because it has such great accuracy compared to the rifles. 3. First bad thing: AI of enemy squads are dumb, really dumb sometimes. I assaulted one outpost and Clear Sky just stood there while I shot their fellow squad members, didn't shoot back. I was in plain sight, no cover at all. 4. The ballistics are slightly better, as in it doesn't take AS many bullets to kill someone. However, there is still a pretty bad "cone of fire" that CS is known for with weapons that are unmodified. The exceptions I've seen in the beginning are the Mosin Nagant, the TOZ-34, and surprisingly the Makarov pistol (to a degree, weak as shit). 5. There is an additional menu as you play the game where you can set the time intervals of squads reinforcing, base reinforcements, the percentage of how often artifacts respawn, and even how often the game auto-saves for you. I really say give this new TFW a shot again if you have before. Or even if you haven't played this mod before, give it a whirl. It has changed since the beginning, and change is very good in this case.
Merge Reloaded with TFW, ballistics and gunplay will be orgasmic.
I love mods that add a landscape in the skybox. It makes the immersion so much better and the world feels huge. Which mods have that? :v:
Lurk
there are alot more mods than LURK that do that
Well, my computer parts arrived today, so after I put them all together, it's time for STALKER in glorious (hopefully) high quality.
What specs did you get?
Who voted for bandits lol?
Who voted for bandits lol?
I don't know. After all, everyone knows the best faction is the Renegades :frogc00l:
You guys forgot Military Stalkers, who were stalkers hired by the military. They are neither Military nor Loner.
kill the mercs and bandits in rostok bugged again godfuckingdamnit
Goddamn bandit scum shouldn't be in this thread. Yes I'm talking to you, you know who you are. :colbert:
kill the mercs and bandits in rostok bugged again godfuckingdamnit
One of the targets probably wandered off.
Where do I find the MP5SD in Lurk? Also what are all the new weapons added in lurk? I'm a bit of a gun guy myself so locating and firing them all would be fun. So many times have I killed people around Bar just to test weapons, a4nd so many glitches.

I enjoyed playing around with Hammer a while back, and STALKER is my favourite game, I thought I'd muck around with mapping if possible. Edit: Also, playing Complete 2009 (SoC) and I just did all the arena missions. Now freedom want to kill me. I can't get into their base in Rostyk, and I don't want to do the sniper mission for Duty, but Duty are all green (pals 4 life). Is there any way to get back in the good books with Freedom? Not sure if it was the arena missions or one of the kill missions I did for the barkeeper. Not a big deal if I have to wipe them all out, since if I recall, they had some pretty decent firepower in their base. But I'd rather side with freedom.
I'm making a total conversion for Call of Pripyat that's putting the CS/SoC maps (heavily modified however) into the CoP engine with a whole ton of new stuff. Google Way of the Wolf if you're interested. Anyway, that sort of modding is done through the SDK - making new levels is done in a modeling program and then imported into the Level Editor, where you can add life to it. FUCK YOU ZONE! I was leaving lab x16, up the ladder, and climbing down the fucking ladder UPSIDE DOWN like FREAKIN SPIDERMAN is a snork! I GET A FACE TO FACE KISS WITH A SNORK! Gah fucking hell.
