If I remember correctly, DX9 rendering uses the weapon texture's normal map's alpha channel (if available) for specular, while DX8/Static lighting uses the alpha channel of the texture's diffuse texture for specular/reflections..It causes that "silver weapon" bug as seen in the F2000 texture used in LURK. The xbox hueg recoil in LURK 1.1 is a bug on my part due to the engine handling accumulating recoil in a retarded manner. I've fixed it for 1.2.

And the shiny bug only happens under static lighting as far as I know.

Maybe having the downsides little less drastic than in CS but something to make you think your choices so that you don't end up with a GOD-Tier ubercannon which is great in everything so fast. But you should be able to upgrade the scope mount, underbarrel grenade launcher and silencer without having them exclude each other. Whatever it is you've decided on the upgrade system, I'll bet it'll be interesting nonetheless.
