Holden your mod is unbalanced, fix it or I'll break down in tears.:ohdear:
having an inventory problem on stalker soc, have ol 2.2. I can't seem to select anything at the bottom of my inventory? I think it might be because of my resolution, i have it at 1360x768 usually but if i set it to 800x600 i can select everything fine. anyone had this problem before and know how to fix?
Updated the OP to be more awesome, thanks to Amezy!

What changed besides your pic?

Also, who here is from Russia, my brother was doing French at school, and apparently his teacher is Russian, and had heard of Stalker. How popular is it in stalker that this random lady has heard of it?
I was also wondering, if the Zone changes throughout the games, besides the obvious gameplay impacts, perhaps Cordon isn't the only entrance to the Zone. There must be a lot of areas good for stories and gameplay, simply ignored in the games because of time limits and the limits of the games.

cor·don (kôrdn)
n.
1. A line of people, military posts, or ships stationed around an area to enclose or guard it.
No matter where you get through the guards, you'll still pass through a cordon. [/end nitpick] . So you mean, that particular location, right ? Well, I think it couldn't hurt to break past another military outpost than the one we've gone past several times.
In fact, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2, I would very much like to actually start outside the Zone with the job of sneaking in past military patrols with their dogs and shit. Then cut through some barbed wire and hide in the bushes and sprint to a thick forest as bullets hit trees around you. You know, something to grow some chest hair for the rookies right off the bat. Not something super frustrating like that machinegun but a decent sense of danger would be nice.

Speaking of "Anarchy Cell", I think it's pretty interesting that the Jupiter map was supposed to originally be in Clear Sky as well.. Although it makes sense considering that the Pripyat Underground was supposed to be in as well..
Excuse me why is Freedom winning?
More importantly, why is your avatar wearing glasses?
at least amez didn't remove the links to Joesibilant's stories That I added... Thanks alot guys, now I'm so depressed not even dream theater can cheer me up, I'm gonna go listen to my chemical romance and cut myself now *cries*
Btw herbalism will be in WotW - you can pick flowers and make potions and put poisonous plant extracts on your bullets to make them more deadly!
Something silimar will be in Southern Comfort as well (a potion/ointment to keep the weapons clean). It's suprizing how similar we think when imagining new Zone lore stuff.

Yessssssss
Think of how awesome it would be if you returned to a small town outside of the Zone, to sell your stuff, eat, etc.
To be honest, I still love Roadside Picnic's environment. Although there would certainly be SOME nutjob traders inside the Zone, most would be in the relative safety of nearby cities, and all.

Although I suppose the Zone is a little calmer in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than in RP.

Depends on the time. Early SoC was rather calm, and it's also "calm" during CoP, but during CS it's a massive clusterfuck and in late SoC everyone is fighting in Pripyat.

Well, there's just the problem that the authorities can't have that sort of thing happening right in the open so the police would just bust 'em. They have trouble turning their backs to the situation as it is now.
Also, if we're talking about leaving the Zone entirely, that would mean a level wasted because there would be no real danger in there. The borderlands are still somewhat dangerous because of the military but going far outside the Zone wouldn't probably turn out well.
Basically I'm talking about an extended, new "Cordon" type level, with roughly maybe 10-20% of the map "outside" the Zone.
It's kind of difficult to create a new entrance to the Zone at this point because when we hear the "Cordon", we also hear "Sidorovich" and remember his comfy bunker. Also, one of the main reason the army doesn't PURGE the rookie village is the "financial arrangements" between the outpost commanders and Sid.

I was jokiiiiing!
I was playing some depressing flash games, and listening to some equally depressing music and wrote this.
The Song

The games are called:
- One Chance
- Every Day the Same Dream
- Freedom Bridge
If you haven't played them, I suggest you do. Unless your a sociapath, or a sarcastic internet user, then you'll only end up ignoring the message and just being a jerk about it.
So I wrote this. Also remember that I'm tired and just played a lot of depressing games, so I probably repeat myself and sound rather stupid.
[release]You, I and the Zone
You and I are so alike, it's hard to tell us apart.
We dream and see and listen and feel, and yet we are so far from being the same.
The Zone is what unites us, and even though it's not real, we listen to it sing,
chilling songs about our life.
Rushing moments and ticking seconds, determined to make every second count, we all hold
to one dear thing, just you and I.
As life ticks on we can stop and think - why are we even here? What role do I play
in the scheme of things in this infinite mysterious universe? We can look at the stars
and whisper philosophy to our selves, or watch the intrinsic details of the world,
something as simple as a dew drop, can make us think for hours. But one thing we tend
to forget, is not the present or our future, but the past and what it held.
Those moments long forgotten, rusted metal sheets. Dirty graffitti covered windows
and dusty window ledges. How much we have forgotten that we made all this happen, one
man made those sheets, a thousand years of knowledge channeled into this abandoned
piece of history, a millenia of time less well spent. Someone scrawled on those
windows, littered it with a half-dozen dirty fignerprints, that dust on those window
frames didn't come from outer space, it's the result of a million little processes,
the creation of our very bodies, as a thousand million long dead skin cells coat that
now forgotten window.
The Zone calls to us, not because we both saw, and felt it, not because we had heard
it, read it, lived it. No, the Zone calls to us because in the Zone we see our past,
the millenias of time, passing away in decay and destruction as the ultimate in mankinds
evils sets in. Memory.
We remember our past so clearly, the events that formed us, the lessons that taught
us how to be alive, how to speak, walk, see. And in the Zone we see it all, and we
know that we remember making it. We remember as a civilzation, through the accumliated
memories of us as a whole, as one entity, that we made this. And now it just rots, its
effort left to be forgotten and vanish from this planet. The Zone draws us back, because
we know this is our future. In the end we will leave nothing behind but dust, denied -
but not forgotten memories, and a scattering of ashes from everything we ever made.
We know that what happens in the Zone will happen to everything, and as the universe
stretches and time slows, we cling desperately to this symbol of the past and exclaim -
We Remember! We Remember!
But time forgives no-one, and it's only a matter of time before we regret all past actions
remembering only pain, and reaping only what grew from those painful seeds. The Zone is
memory, it is our escape, our plea for redemption, the Zone is You and I, the Zone is
the future, and we can only hope to embrace it before it becomes the past and the cycle
continues.
We're so alike, You, I and the Zone. We all remember.

Aye, but what I'm talking about is the Zone itself. There wouldn't even be any room for factions in Roadside Picnic, because it's just too damn dangerous. Shootouts would be isolated and quickly done with.

Well, it depends on what you mean by 'wasted'.
The danger wouldn't be in the town itself, true. All of the danger would be in getting in and out of the town. You'd have to sneak your way past the army, and get back - past the army.
As for busting traders living in the towns, it's part of the danger. Although it's relatively safe, (i.e. dealing artifacts in the back room of a bar), it's certainly more safe than a bunker in the Zone.

Sniper Makarovs

I have worn the same bandit jacket since cordon, up to x16, without any repairs and it's stats are better then the other armour.
I was jokiiiiing!
Why? There's so much to do with artifacts besides stashing and selling them.
Why? There's so much to do with artifacts besides stashing and selling them.
Ah well artifacts are another case entirely - I was joking about picking flowers :P

Fuck
Ah well artifacts are another case entirely - I was joking about picking flowers :P
True. I was too much focused on artifacts. But if you can't pick radioactive flowers, what do you give to female stalkers?
Blind dog puppies.
I was alright with picking flowers and shit. :colbert:
You obviously can't have too much flora in the zone, but we have mutated animals, why not plants? You could coat a bullet with burnt fuzz, making everything move faster in relation to it , meaning it would shoot projectiles everywhere, making it easier to penetrate flesh and armor, plus it would shoot inside the flesh until it stopped.
Took some pics while playing TFW :

My Mercbros arrive. The HQ refused my call for reinforcements earlier, citing that "they can't afford to send men out at night, it's too risky".
