You could probably do more as destruction. I do 15k in all Herioc gear.

I use sorrowsong on my lock because of the lack of an execute type ability, helps me during burn phases.

maybe if you knew the class you'd realize shadowburn is destruction's execute? using sorrowsong over volcano (BiS trinket) is horribly retarded and if you are in dire need of a more potent execute as destruction [url="http://www.wowhead.com/item=42468#created-by-spell"]this[/url] and speccing into shadowburn would be more efficient than having a dormant trinket for 80% of the fight, especially when it could potentially be one of the BiS trinkets

I know my class well enough to do 16k dps. There are some things I don't know apparently, but I'm not going to buy volcano. Either way I've been aff the past two months.

I had 20k stocked up on my DK and gave away 5k to an old guildmate for epic flying and about 3k to the same guild's GB because i was bored
forgot to get rid of my demonology reforge shit and reforged for affliction
so on a training dummy with only my warlock buffs, single target i did like 13k
usually start out as SB, haunt, DS, doom, corruption, UA, shadowflame and then just spam sb while making sure my dots don't drop off, keep haunt and shadowflame on cd, put soulburn > soul fire in there somewhere, maybe pop in CoE early on.
anything to improve on?

warlocks don't do well on training dummys, for one we need an execute phase and dummies don't give and and secondly we need buffs such as dark intent to be up
try going in a raid
