This might make starting out a bit easier - I can never stick with a world after I make my first shelter.
Hopping into an NPC building after slaughtering them or repairing a ruin would be a lot easier.
Notch don't you DARE do any last minute changes to this update.
You can see a ravine in the first screenshot.
This is sorta relevant sense this turned into the 1.8 thread.
You know the Silverfish.png that has no in game use so far right?
This one
Well someone was so nice to patch together a to scale model for us.

Fuck, are they 1x1?
Fuck, are they 1x1?
More or less but don't count on that picture entirely, the scale and how the model is shaped are assumptions and estimations by the artist.
Markus Persson added to "following" circle :buddy:

oh christ kill it kill it
if those things climb up walls, fuck everything
That'd be scary. Especially if they attack in groups :ohdear:
A swarming mob would be pretty cool.
A swarming mob would be pretty cool.
Like wolfs and pigmen do when you hurt them, but then better.
[editline]2nd July 2011[/editline]
I think you should have 40 HP (each heart consists out of 4 segments). That way you can have a good swarming mob. For example: 1 silverfish would hurt you for 1 HP (which is 1/4th heart). On the other note, it will also be useful for notch when he adds critical hit stuff, it would get too overpowered maybe otherwise.
Giant fucking mushroom Morrowind style.

Surprisingly, this also look like those bug things from Morrowind...
If you want to find the scale of the silverfish just count the ammout of pixels for its body, and then you should know how big it is since every pixel in minecraft is clearly visible. 1 block = 16px x 16px, so for instance if the things body is only 6px tall in its texture, then ingame it will only be 6px tall, right?

Read as Swearing Mob
Pictured Zombie Pigman out side house screaming "FUCK"
The houses don't look that great either. He should have had a contest to design them or something.
The ruins look awesome though.
I hope there will be good and evil NPC villages, and I also hope you can do something with them similar to the wolves, where you gve them something like gold and they will then follow you around and attach mobs and such then bring you back the stuff they drop

Notch's picture looks like shit.
Jeb's picture is exciting and impressive.
:smug:

I remember a long time ago when Notch first mentioned wanting to make villages he was talking about having all villages start out neutral, and depending on if you help them or hurt them, they would either become friendly with you or malicious towards you.
Kind of ruins the exclusiveness of the mossy cobble. And will probably make some people's structures look ugly.
I like the idea that I'll be able to track down a dungeon by following the moss.

Rob the shit out of them.
I'd also love to see different types of villages. Like a, say, bandits camp, a kind of Righteous Imperials city, poor farmers, Rich magnates and so on.

Please don't tell me he is taking the Millenare mod and making it official, I hope for the sake of all that is the adventure update, Jeb and Him made it themselves.
I just hope villages can be turned off. I don't really want those in my worlds.
Giant mushrooms?
NPC towns?
New biome code AND new mobs?
Ravines and canyons?
Ruins?
Stone brick and mossy brick?
1.8 Is going to be AWESOME.
please no giant mushrooms.

New type of gate/door?
How did you see that? You must have eagle eyes. You must be Eagleman!
If you look closely at the village picture there are new types of what looks like weird trees. The houses themselves seem to be made of cobblestone AND mossy cobblestone. Oh I can foresee a lot of empty chunks in houses in mp.
This update might be my favorite. I like 1.7, but I'm no good at redstone logic gates, so I think I'll enjoy this.
I'm all for mushrooms if he changes them to look a bit better. Maybe if they have more of a /\ look instead of just a __. The villages look awesome already, though.

I don't think it's hard to get rid of them, gameplay wise.
I hope we can get rid of those mushrooms somehow, first off all I think they don't really fit and secondly they scare me. I know it sounds weird but I hate games/movies with those giant mushroomes, I just think they are disgusting. (and no, I don't hate the small mushrooms, I even eat mushrooms in real life)
