Is anyone else getting occasional disconnects? I've been disconnected and unable to log in for about five minutes twice today.
I've got a +16% firestorm gem if you're interested.
That'd be pretty jammin' actually. I'm Zazubi in-game. Add me when you're on, and I'll see if I have anything you need.
Are there any other uniques besides The Covenant and Malachai's Simula that have the Blood Magic mod?
Prism Guardian - Shield
Prism Guardian - Shield
Thanks
also, these are the stats
+1 to Level of Aura Gems in this Item
Gems in this Item have Blood Magic
Gems in this Item have 25% Reduced Mana Reservation
+(20-30) to Dexterity
+25% to All Elemental Resistances
I'm wondering, does the 25% reduced mana reservation for auras stack with the Reduced mana support gem? If so that shield could fit into my build decently...
So yeah; Merveil is tough as nails. My guess is that I should have more cold resist, since she throws those ice spikes and cold hands at you like no-one's business.
Just wear two decent saphire rings and you shouldn't have any trouble. She's very easy compared to the other bosses, so if you're having trouble with her it could get very rough
Merveil's easy as long as you have cold resist.
This might sound like a silly question but if you have a level 20 gem and for example a shield that gives +1 to gem levels do you get a level 21 skill?
If not doesn't that make it a rather useless buff in the late game?
EDIT
From the Open Beta patch notes

General Gem Balance:
The experience curve has been smoothed for gems that start at character level 24 or 31.
High level gems are now balanced to have greater effect than before.
Attack gem damage bonuses no longer taper off towards higher levels but now continue to increase at the same rate.
Reduced the life progression of totems. The bonus for totem life per point of quality has been decreased from 3% to 1.5%.
Skill and support gems now have balance values that go higher than level 20, so that if you get a gem at max level (which is still 20) but have items that increase the gem level, then the skill is more powerful.

finally
Me and a friend did some map steamrolling last night, got some pretty good loot and we didn't really die, until... we went into a map and at the door there was over 20 magic undying alchemists within a short radius as well as magic dogs that puncture with extra physical damage.

We almost managed to clear the door area with some tentacle miscreations with added fire damage and fire penetration supports but I got brought down by a dog with puncture and my friend used our last life to scout the area to see what we missed out on. The answer was about 50% of the enemies in the map were undying alchemists.

That's good to know, I'd been wondering that.
What the actual fuck.
I just got:
Goldrim
The Peregine
Stone of Lazhwar
7 mod rare gauntlets with + physical damage and atkspeed and hp and hp regen
Coral amulet rare with 2-33 lightning, 13% resists, 22 attributes, and 4.4 life regen total
for FIVE FUCKING ALCHS
Does Blind also apply to curses? Let's say I link blind to my conductivity and I curse a pack of mobs, will they also have a chance to get blinded or does that only work with spells that do actual damage?

I think you can check by linking it, then seeing if on your hotkey bar it has the blind support gem icon in the skills upper right hand corner. That or you could try, it's a really interesting idea because blind basically ruins non-caster enemies.
Nevermind, this is what the wiki says
Spells do not have a chance to hit, the ability to hit with a spell is unaffected by being blinded.
My guess is that Curses just fall under the category of Spells so I'm afraid it won't work.

That statement isn't about blinding with a spell, it's about casting spells with blind. It's saying if you're blinded you can still cast spells fine. That's why in my last post I said "ruins non-caster mobs", because caster mobs are unaffected by blind.
Oh I interpreted that wrongly then, but I don't have a Blind gem myself so I can't really test it, anyone here willing to test that for me?

I have a couple blind gems, I'll give it a try.
EDIT: For anyone wondering, this does not work. AFAIK the gem actually has to have to do damage of some sort to blind. You can link it to summons though for an ultra gigglefest, which will make their autoattacks blind enemies.

So it works on Zombies / Skeletons?
Currently I'm running a Dual Totem Character so my own skills don't do any damage either and now I'm wondering if it would still blind them if I hit them with something but don't actually damage them.
I case you're wondering I bought a Moonsorrow Imbued wand:
(30-40)% Increased Spell Damage
125% Increased Physical Damage
+10 to Intelligence
(20-30)% Increased Lightning Damage
10% Increased Cast Speed
10% Chance to Blind Enemies on Hit
Skill Gems in this Item are Supported by Level 5 Blind
Mainly for the increased lightning damage and cast speed but the Blinding mod got me rather interested too.
How much can I get for Goldrim, Stone of Lazhwar, and The Peregine each?

If you put a summon skeleton linked to spell totem in that wand, the skeletons should blind enemies when they hit them (of course, they have to hit - and then it's still only a chance)
Well, cyclone is out, can't wait to try it.

Seems massively underwhelming - the damage output isn't that high, and you're pretty vulnerable while using it. Big disappointment here, I was hoping it'd be a good skill for one of my characters.
In other news - anyone tried out EK builds? Ethereal Knives scales ridiculously, I did some math on it and it seems like it can have higher phys damage (DPS wise and single hit wise) than the best bow in the game with the best rolls on the best mods :v:

I heard the damage output was pretty high, but Physical Reflect mobs completely wreck you. One way to make it work is to convert some of the Physical Damage to Elemental. I believe a new Unique Shield got added recently that converted a good amount of Physical Damage to Fire Damage, which would fit that kind of build perfectly.

The real question is why you'd use it over something like cleave, and I can't really come up with an answer. It seems nice at first with the +phys% and +attkspeed%, but then it has 35% damage effectiveness on that. Cleave has 70% damage effectiveness, is safer to use, can also be used 1h or dual wielding, and it costs less than a third of the mana. My friend compared his DPS with the same support gems and level for cleave and cyclone and cyclone wasn't even comparable
Anyone got Taryn's Shiver?

I was talking about Ethereal Knifes
I was talking about Ethereal Knifes
Oh ok. Yeah physical reflect mobs will instagib you but unlike elemental archer builds you're usually close enough to enemies to tell they have reflect physical so you don't just die because an arrow you fired hit a mob in the next room that was reflecting :v:. At the moment I'm also using hatred aura because it complements Ethereal Knives insanely well since the base physical is so retardedly high, conversion builds are actually really strong due to the whole stacking multipliers business.
I saw this on their forums, pretty funny

Ouch; how unfortunate. I guess that's what happens when you put two things into a random generator; Nuffle has a sick sense of humour.
How the hell do people level up so fast?
How the hell do people level up so fast?
Lots and lots of damage in mostly safe farming areas. The most important thing is to just ignore shit you don't care about. If an area is slow exp, grab some quicksilvers and maybe some granites and run through. If you don't need a quest's rewards, don't do it. It's not too hard to rush through normal in less than a day of playing if you skip fetid pool, golden hand, and any non-main quests that you don't need rewards for. If you play in parties you can do it even faster because usually there's parties with tps up to the main bosses or waypoints.
What is the most effective build for cyclone?
It looks to me like a fast 2h or 1h + shield, since dual wielding doesn't really get any advantage other than that tiny dps boost
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
or would it be elemental?
