It's fun to try and rule over a ghetto city, with huge taxes and no rich, all poor and all factories, full of crime and generally the worst city ever
Sadly in that city (named Scumtown), I tried to make an exclusive rich district around my mayor's house. It bled into the rest of the city and I accidently created a middle/rich class wonderland. That area is the last ghetto in the city, on the other side of the river. So why not put a massive statue that towers over their houses and instills fear into their children while looking across the bay at the rich, happy side of town

I had a 2.5 ghz processor, and 2 ati 3870's with 4gb of ram and I could run it maxed. It's not that hard of a game to run maxed out.

You're not running it maxed. In DX11 with that fucking DoF, it brings even awesome rigs down to a crawl.
I remember when Metro 2033's optimal requirements were released. They required hardware that wasn't even on the market yet.

Now imagine the specs for a real "optimal" experience would be, seen as Metro will still only hit 40 fps maxed out on what it calls optimal specs. Oh well, at least it runs at that framerate constantly unlike crysis which hardly goes above 30 maxed out w/ tweaked shadows.

I have DX11 dof turned off you see, so I get 40-50 fps most of the time.

These are some shots taken during one of my decisive battles while playing the Campaign of the Coalition. I'm Great Britain and I was making my way through northern spain, converging on their capital to wipe them off the playing field once and for all. This was the decisive 'Battle of Barcelona: 1806' in which the Duke of Wellington went up against two Generals whose armies together amassed more than 3000+ troops against the measly, yet experienced, troop of 1600 from Wellington.
The plan was simple. Instead of duking it out head to head, I decided to try to lure these generals into a flat, open field which offered me plenty of cover and an opportunity of a crossfire.

My troops sat and waited. As the usual order of business, my two artillery regiments began to bombard the oncoming enemy. It wasn't entirely effective at the ranges they were firing from but every casualty would count for something and would mean one less rifle in battle. Some of my artillery felt it necessary to create some comical friendly fire.

The initial city defenders, armed citizenry and spanish fusiliers, advanced toward my forward skirmishers lying in wait in the brush. The second general's troops, toting 4 regiments of veteran Dragoons was bringing up the rear.

It wasn't long until the skirmishers' position was threatened and in haste they turn tail and try to make back to the safety of their lines before being overrun by the Dragoons advancing upon their position.

In a desperate bid to aid their fellow brothers in arms, a rear guard regiment of foot fired into their troops in an attempt to riddle their pursuers in hot lead. This friendly fire was necessary but it wasn't enough to stop the Dragoons from catching up to the skirmishers.

During this little engagement, a lone cannon ball ripped through the spanish lines and tore through a general's bodyguard, killing the general and several other of his most loyal guard.

The Dragoons smashed through in full force, spreading fear, confusion and death every where. three regiments of foot lay in wait behind the forward skirmisher's position and they quickly formed squares to counter this cavalry threat. With fire coming from all sides, the Dragoons were slowly being chewed up and they had no choice but to fall back or die. The savage battle between men unfolded.

Despite successfully countering and pushing back these 4 regiments of Dragoons, the regiment of foot now remained vulnerable to rifle and cannon fire. The spanish infantry had finally come into battle and now the British troops need to regroup and reorganize or they risk being layed to waste in their vulnerable defensive squares.

I find the total war games really fun, but I just suck at the combat so much
I just reinstalled Empire, I need to learn how to command troops.
And ships, I never win a ship battle.
