Unfortunately, SW: KOTOR doesn't support widescreen. I bought it on steam but I haven't put more than 2 minutes into it because I refuse to play on anything but 1920x1080. I don't suppose there is a way to get it working at that resolution without using Widescreengamingforum's method of getting a no-cd .exe and patching it? I've got over 100 games on my steam list and I don't want to get VAC banned because I tried to play a game in widescreen.
There is a program that forces it into widescreen, and a UI mod that changes the UI to fit it. But it's hard to find, even a few years ago, and I don't know if it supports above 1680x1050 or not
that isn't how VAC works
I thought VAC just scanned for third party files.
I use the no-cd method to get widescreen on my steam copy and it works fine.
Yeah? Okay, thanks. I'll give it a go then. It seems that it's safe according to the Steamforums too.
Crysis 2 with DX11, high texture pack, and DX11 Ultra updates. Played at 1920x1080, all setting ultra, and DX11 enabled with medium motion blur. I get about 45 to 55fps with these specs: Q6600 OC'd 3.5ghz, 4gb DDR3 1066mhz, and a HD6870
And NOW it's almost as awesome as the first. I'm installing the patches as we speak. Those pics look kickass! Reminds me of the times where my friend and I were admiring gameplay vids from Motorstorm and Engine demonstations of Crysis. That was back in 06. Good times!
I made a short Oblivion graphics mod video. I plan on making a tutorial-esque thing to teach others how to reproduce the same results.

Crysis 2 still manages to look like shit even with the update. The tech is there but the art direction sucks ass.
I thought Taris was okay, the Citadel on ME1 gets a bit boring sometimes in my opinion.
Look at those amazing flat leaves and bullet sprites.
Yep, I'm not really impressed at all with this update except for the lighting maybe.

It checks for programs or libraries that inject code into the game. running a no-CD crack for a game that came out YEARS before steam was around isn't going to do anything. I played like 100 hours in KOTOR in 1080p last year. you're fine. [editline]27th June 2011[/editline]
Ew, no AA. Turn off frameblending and you'll see what I mean. it's almost like how 64x MSAA with SLI works. I think it's a way to do AA for the whole screen without blurring it or by doing anything with DX11 until now. I'll try supersampling or forcing it in the control panel when I get home. Edit: I should say that's completely based off my testing with the leak, turning off the frame blending makes aliasing considerably more noticable. My GUESS is that it's rendering sub-frames with the samples shifted to do a sort of AA, without simply blurring it.

Also in those screenshots I posted I'd like to point out shadows were to set to "very high" for whatever reason, probably didn't notice it at first glance, but I'm still pretty disappointed with how it all looks with these patches and high quality texture "free DLC". Brt5470, you should make some gameplay videos or something, I've been watching your Metro 2033 videos and I'm jealous of your new PC :v: I'm stuck with a Q6600 for I don't know how long, but it gets the job done so I'm satisfied for now.

Niko looks awful, though.
Fantastic game, one of my all time favorites. It's a shame the Taris section is so horrifyingly boring that one of the most popular mods for the game is one to skip that whole section. I don't know what it is, but it seems to me like Bioware had no idea how to make the beginning of a game entertaining until ME2.
Peragus is way way way way WAY worse [editline]27th June 2011[/editline]
This game keeps crashing on my computer for some reason, and I really want to play it :frown:
Mine does too. You have to run it in compatibility mode with windows XP but when I do that my widescreen mod doesn't work and my save file doesn't show.
Niko looks awful, though.
Yeah the skin I got for him doesn't work well with it.
ENB makes my 580's come to their knees believe it or not. During idle my top 230mm fan blows relatively cool air. when I'm in GTA4 with the super sampling AA on and it all maxed my top vent get quite toasty. I should post sound samples of how loud it gets. I need to customize my 580's fan profiles to let it get to 70-75c so they run a little quieter.
I feel like replaying KotOR now. Also, anyone know where I can find KotOR II? It's not on steam, nor is it on gog.com... I've never played KotOR II but I fucking loved the first one.

which version of ENB are you guys using?
How well does GTA:IV run on a GTX460/Core 2 Duo combo? Not very well, I'd imagine, but I'd like to pick it up during the Steam Summer Sale and see if it's any good.
Meh,
which version of ENB are you guys using?
For GTA IV? The pack I posted on the previous page. You'll need either a verrrrrry high clocked dual core or a good quad core for GTA.
I could understand Crysis 2 not having real AA with DX9, but with DX11 there's no reason not to have hardware MSAA seen as deferred shading doesn't really have any downsides on the later DX runtimes.
I've never played KotOR II but I fucking loved the first one.
amazon It's a much better written game than the first, Chris Avvelone is an amazing game writer. Too bad they couldn't finish it.
