Me too. Morrowind is my all time favorite game, partially because of the nostalgia since it was the second PC game I ever played(Starcraft being the first) and partially because of the abundance of customization added via mods. Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, they just never stand up with the amount of good mods that Morrowind had.
I don't know what it is exactly, but Morrowind had something that no other game has. For me, it truly is the best RPG I've ever played.
I feel like a scrub because i only have the original Morrowind. :frown:

Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of the "graininess" of textures in my game? I have MGE plus the ED pack that was posted here, but a lot of textures are overly grainy. Any ideas?

Pick of GoTY sometime. It's like 10 or 20 bucks now and both Mournhold and Solstheim are amazing places with their own unique touch.

It has this level of immersion. It feels like everything was placed purposefully, and just when you think you have ran into some generic area there is someone with some cool artifact or item who needs some help(or to die). Plus it's completely unique. Human races aren't the majority, like in most RPGs. The native people are elves who aren't even the gay elves you see in every other RPG too.
In short, it's badass.

Screenshot?

Here. You can't tell since it's just a screenshot, but a lot of shimmering occurs when I move around.
First thing I would do is install a different texture pack. I had that problem before and it bugged me so much I got different textures and everything was fine. I've never seen the ED pack to be honest. So I can't say much about it, other than it seems like your texture pack is causing the problem, or its interaction with MGE is.
http://www.etherealsoftware.com.au/textpacks/
That shows a bunch of different texture packs(visually) so you can see if you do want one.
Also if changing it doesn't work I would disable MGE and see if that works.
Sorry I can't be more help, I'm not a graphics wizard.

By the way I use Darker Morrowind.
One of my friends refuses to play this because magic does not regenerate after casting. I have actually never played using magic primarily, so what do you guys do to compensate for it?

Did he pick The Atronach? that might be the problem.
If not:
-Potion of restore magic.
- weapon with long reach.
-Rest after battle.

I believe the problem is that the textures are just too sharp and high res when rendered with Morrowind's engine. In STALKER SHOC there was this user mod called SHARPER textures that also introduced the problem of textures shimmering while moving around because somehow the creator thought that sharper textures would look better. (Also known as aliasing)

You can always get a mod for it as well. That is, assuming your friend tried it on PC. I personally find the lack of mana regen in morrowind a welcome challenge. If he honestly finds it unplayable due to that tell him to go grab a mod so he can enjoy the amazing experience that is Morrowind.

If he's that stupid, he doesn't deserve to play the game.
Name of the tomb? I remember it but I can't remember what the tombs name was.
Also, I can't loot bonemeal from tombs at lower levels anymore. I got a mod that adds a 25% chance for a monster to spawn from disturbing their resting place now. It also has a 1% to spawn a level 30 greater ancestral ghost thing no matter what level you are. It happened to me at least twice and low levels and I never did it again.
Apparently another thing the mod adds in is if you disturb enough dead's resting places the dead will disturb you while resting, which is not a curse I would like to live with at a low level :v:.
I believe it is called Saran Ancestral Tomb. It's west of Suran, across the rope bridge, and directly across the road from the small roadside farm shack along the way.

I tend to agree, but there are mods that easily "fix" magic regen.
I loved playing a mage and having to deal with managing potions and what spells I was going to use. I went through some pretty tense situations involving my escape from hostiles when my potions ran out. It added to the experience for me.
Having a small problem with the game after I clean installed everything.
I launched the game after installing the ed pack and the game worked fine, then I put in a few body replacers for Vivec ,Azura, and Almalexia and the moon and star crosshair from something awful and whenever I try to load the game it says "Failed to load cursor: Meshes\.nif.
"Meshes\.nif cannot load file
Reinstalled and tried it again without the extra stuff and it happened again.
Nevermind it was darkui.
I'd love to see a mod that made every single smuggler den, tomb and non-quest related dungeon-kind-of-place very random.
Either that or adds one dungeon in Balmora, Mournhold or some other major city that is totally random each time you go in. Think of the Shadow Vault in Torchlight.

I don't believe it's possible in the Morrowind engine. You can make creatures random, and loot random, but not the dungeon itself.

I think it might be possible by placing a shitload of dungeon pieces and using some script to activate/deactivate the pieces to create a random dungeon. It would probably take a ridiculous amount of scripting though, programming each layout and telling which pieces to toggle depending on which layout it picks.
Easily possible, but a shitload of scripting and a rather long time loading depending on the dungeon. And it wouldnonly work with linear dungeon designs, so no caves.

I think Morrowind was the first RPG i ever played, and damn this game is the best shit ever. I think i got over 400 hours and i still haven't finished the mainquest of the vanilla game, though i know all the lore and what's gonna happen. I can also recommend Tamriel Rebuilt, its about the only mod i use and it really adds to the game.
Oh and if anybody wants my throwin' Spear mod send me a PM.
Speaking of mods, I tried using the Living Cities of Vvardenfell mod. This pretty much gives every NPC a schedule, locks the doors at night and has more guards out at night. NPCs go to bed, go to the taverns, go to work or whatever. Just like in Oblivion.
I'd use this mod if it didn't have a weird-ass glitch. I'd just be walking along somewhere I'd hear a disturbingly "bad sounding" *DONG* and an NPC would disappear.
Oh shit.

That's worthy of a creepypasta.

It's not a glitch, it's a feature. That dong signals the time and sends the NPC's off to where they're supposed to be at that time.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, fucking scribs and their fucking paralyze spell.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, fucking scribs and their fucking paralyze spell.
I remember when I was starting out on some generic fighter character. I was hacking and smashing and hunting when I found a lonely scrib. Thinking it was easy long blade skill I went up and tried to stab it. I missed, I got paralyzed, and luckily for me a Nix Hound nearby saw me and decided I was easy lunch. I am sitting there paralyzed while a Nix Hound is ass-raping me from behind and each time I try and stab the fucking scrib I miss.
Ragdoll mod for this game would be great, but I think it's impossible.
I just wish it was possible to move stuff like in Oblivion and Fallout. Where you could drag items around. Decorating a house would be so much easier with it.
If he's that stupid, he doesn't deserve to play the game.
Everyone has their own tastes. If the guy would like to try the game but finds the mechanic tedious and unfun, then just let him enjoy it the way he wants to. I know some Oblivion players who come to Morrowind use a mana-regen mod as well. I may not use the mod myself, but that doesn't mean I think people who do are stupid. It's not like he's putting tgm on and randomly killing towns. Those kind of people are the ones that don't deserve to play the game. The fact Restore Magicka ingredients in Morrowind are rare and expensive early game just makes things harder, and I found resting after every fight tedious. I'm still never going to use such a mod myself though.
I just wish it was possible to move stuff like in Oblivion and Fallout. Where you could drag items around. Decorating a house would be so much easier with it.
I actually find it a hundred times easier to decorate in Morrowind. Oblivion had wonky physics for the most part that made it a huge hassle. I'd often bump a sword I wanted to display up into tapping ONE book by accident just to have the entire thing collapse afterwords.
I think I speak for everyone when I say, fucking scribs and their fucking paralyze spell.
Scribs are completely harmless, though. They don't attack you unless you hit them first. I love the little guys personally.
I just wish it was possible to move stuff like in Oblivion and Fallout. Where you could drag items around. Decorating a house would be so much easier with it.
No it wouldn't? I think that in Morrowind it's MUCH easier to decorate.
In oblivion it was always a pain in the ass to put some bottles stand upright or some shit. Made me mad.
I don't know about Oblivion but I felt Fallout was far easier to decorate. I seems you have to have like 10 different mods in Morrowind to get the same functionality for decoration that Fallout had. It would have been cooler though if you could freeze your items in place so a stiff breeze wouldn't knock down your pyramid of cigarette cartons.
But I digress, I just wish you could move things around like you could in later Bethsoft games.
Must've messed something up in my INI, but oh well...My torches suck ass.

I respect your opinion of course but Oblivion and Fallout are just plagued with wonky physics and terrible collision. Fallout had less wonky physics but they were not really improved much. In Morrowind, it's as simple as pretty much pointing and clicking to decorate, no crappy physics around to ruin everything. There are mods for Oblivion and Fallout though that make them easier, I think the one for Oblivion was called "Decorator Assistant" or something but I didn't care enough to play with menus all day so I never tried it. I'm sure there's a decorator mod for Fallout as well, so if you would like to check that out it'd probably be neat for you, and it certainly couldn't hurt.
In both Oblivion and Fallout, I just threw all my crap in the floor of my house since I've always been paranoid of containers deleting all your items after 3 days (or 1 week, I forget how long it was.) I hear about that happening all the time in Oblivion and Fallout.
