[QUOTE=JeanLuc761;30599007]Now, did Bioware actually say that existing characters would now be bisexual, or did they just say there would be homosexual romances in general?[/QUOTE]
They said there would be new options for both sexes and orientations. They have said nothing about changing characters, but it has been implied and the folks over on the Bioware boards tend to believe it is true. Judging on what they did with DA2, although they are two different teams, it is not unfair to consider the possibility that they could make some of the options from the other two games available for either sex in this game. This is purely speculation, but it isn't improbable based on the direction that Bioware as a company has been going in regards to romance options in their games. Making the previous romance options available for either sex is something I am against as well, seems dangerously close to retcon, and I dislike retcon.
I'm here discussing the possibility of them making all the romances DA2 style and/or my dislike of how the romances have changed over the course of the games. I'm not saying that i'm right or wrong, or that this will or will not happen. I am saying it is a possibility and am voicing my opinion on why I think it's bullshit, I like a good debate though and would happily discuss it with the FP Mass Effect thread.

Thinking about it, the only character I can viably see becoming a bisexual romance is Jack, but even that's a stretch.
Tali, Garrus, Jacob, Miranda and Thane are pretty dead-set in their sexuality. One thing I do hope they take from DA2 was the "Friendship path." It was wonderful not being shut out of a ton of dialogue just because I wasn't romancing the character.

I guess I agree. I don't really think they should just make everyone bisexual.
And sorry about my other comment. I misread your opinion.

Someone has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too much time on their hands.

I agree. They've said they're working on that as well as party member interactions, which I think is great. One of the few things DA2 did right was the relationship you had with Varric and Aveline. Though them increasing party banter and friendships likely means they are taking on [i]some[/i] influence from the Dragon Age team, for better and for worse.
[QUOTE=JeanLuc761;30599058]Not Miranda, but I could argue that the paragon Jack romance or the Tali romance is close to if not as good as Ashley's in ME1. Personally, I consider the romance to be a smooth transition from the events that transpired earlier in the game, heavily including the loyalty mission (and, in Tali's case, the events of Mass Effect 1 to some degree).

It just didn't really make sense that, as human colonies go missing, you'd go out of your way to learn how to safely have sex with Tali or listen to Jack's problems so you and her can build a close relationship. At it's strongest the conversations with Ashley seemed to be flirtatious, while with most LIs in in ME2 it sounded closer to actual romantic interest beyond simple comments and suggestions.
Aaaand then there's the catfight in ME1, which I guess is the strongest evidence to say ME1 was at some points just as silly as ME2.

If there's only one thing Dragon Age did right (and it definitely did a lot of things right), it would definitely be character interaction. It's so many levels above Mass Effect in that respect that it makes Mass Effect look like an antique.

Catfight? I wouldn't really call it that. More like a meeting where everyone could talk and get some clarification.

Shit like this goes on a very long scale and you've got a lot of journey time that you never see. Romancing them is just something to do while you've got a 3 hour wait til the next stop.

I would have agreed...right up until the point where there was a dialogue option called "Catfight!" And of course, there was the "Why can't I have you both?"

That's one of the downsides to it being a game; so much unseen that is simply impractical to put development time towards.

Origins did everything right in my opinion, it is one of my favorite games of all time. Dragon Age 2 did a few things right and quite a few more wrong.

No harm done. Discussing sexual orientation and romance options, even in video games, is a touchy subject.

Oh I definitely agree. Dragon Age Origins is as close to RPG nirvana I've yet experienced.
It would be cool if you could change Shepard's sexuality in the character creation menu, so if I don't intend on pursuing a gay love interest, I could just make my character straight and avoid accidentally romancing Garrus in our bro chats.

Nah, in-game. Colonies are going missing but Shepards got journey time where he's not doing anything else so why not mess with Jack's head some more.

True enough. Then again, this is a game series where we can go mine some planets for a few hours while the future of the galaxy is at stake, so time is generally not a factor :P
this came to me

Conrad failed to appear in my ME2 because I left his mission incomplete in ME1. :sigh:

Same for me. Gonna replay both games just to get him back :v:
I hope the reporter is covering the battle of Earth live at the beginning of ME3 and you see her, run up to her (to 'help' her (i.e. punch her in the face for being so fucking stupid), but she promptly gets crushed under the tentacle of a landing Reaper.
And then Shepard quips, "well, at least the Reapers are useful for something."
I bet Bioware are gonna be all smug and make not punching the reporter pay off in some way.
Or you know, allow us punch to her again.

the reporter sees shepard and starts running away and then shepard runs up to her and does something like that [img]http://chzgifs.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/whatyoudointhestreetsp1.gif[/img]
The amount of Quarain/ Human hybrid threads on the Bioware Forums confuses and freaks me out.
Only Word of God can save them now...(which i hope never happens)

Dear god.
Ok, I'm a masochist. Wanna venture in and bring back some samples? Quarantine them in url tags though, don't need them to spread.
I dont get why you guys threat personal preference as a "virus". Honestly all this ranting is far more annoying to me than the actual talimancers and whatnot. I dont see anyone posting " Tali is my waifu!!:3 " or spamming Tali pics ( Darth only does that from time to time and does it for fun ), but almost every page there are "HOLY SHIT EUGH so DISGUSTING ; What is WRONG with these people ; KILL IT WITH FIRE".
I mean come on. Its becoming a hate bandwagon.
[sp] im not a talimancer or anythingmancer myself [/sp]

We receive reports of them from BSN and as such anyone who claims to be a Talimancer can be accused of being one secretly or just guilt by association. Shitty reason but it causes some fun arguments.

I frequent BSN and I can honestly say that the complaining about the Talimancers far outweighs anything the Talimancers have done recently. Everyone seems locked onto this idea that "All Talimancers are awful human beings. Let's complain about how awful they are!"
Yet, when asked to provide examples of this, nobody can come up with anything, or at least nothing recent.
All characters have extremist fans, and since Tali is so popular she has a higher number. Simple as that.
