Heh, I'm struggling with Bejing dialect. My previous Chinese professor could speak in the Cantonese dialect, which confused me outright. And I don't think I've heard Shanghai dialect, anything like Thai dialect?
No idea how Thai dialect is, but Shanghai dialect is the most "non-Chinese" like of the three dialects I know. At least in Cantonese and Mandarin I can find similarities, but Shanghai dialect is completely different.
Maybe a bit Korean-ish, but not that stiff in the pronounciation. And more tone but not as much tone to it as Cantonese and Mandarin...
Ugh, sorry I'll stop going off-topic like this.
Both Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale are Canadian, which can be detected sometimes when they deliver lines. So Shepard could possibly be Canadian.
I like to assume Shepard is Canadian. Not sure why.
You wouldn't find it jarring at all, after saving the Galaxy from the Reapers and getting some big guddamn hero ending that it just put you back on the Normandy as though everything you did never happened? There comes a point in everything where it just has to end. The Witcher 2 and Dragon Age Origins (expansion packs don't really count in this regard since they're self-contained stories) would've felt quite a bit different if they just threw you back into the world just because.
No? You're expecting Shepard to just call it quits the second he stops the Reapers? He had shit to do before the Reapers came along and will have shit to do afterward. He's still Commander Shepard and people will still need his help after the Reapers are gone. Who ever said they will just slap you back in the Normandy like nothing happened? I for one look forward to seeing how people react to Shepard after he beats the Reapers.
Also, with the weapons modification and whatnot, there's going to be way too much content to just make players call it quits the second the main story is over. I find it ridiculous that you'd think less of the story just because free-roam is added in after it.
I mean, seriously, what the fuck are you on about. At the end of ME2, it asks if you want to end it or keep doing it in free-roam. If you're so adamant about the story "just ending" then don't play in the free-roam. That damn easy. You get things your way and everyone else gets their free-roam. It's not like they are forcing you to play the free-roam.
Reapers are giant hands waiting to be held as the sun sets. :3:
I just started playing ME1 again, and I agree. When you see the call for help on Eden Prime, it REALLY does look like a giant hand and arm reaching down to the planet's surface.

Ultimately the entire point of Shepard's story is to stop the Reapers, and I don't particularly remember that many people reacting to the Collectors being stopped (isn't that what an epilogue is for?)
I personally had absolutely no problem with Mass Effect 2's free roam after the main ending, it made sense for both the later DLCs and the idea that Shepard was still preparing for the Reapers arrival by making the Galaxy as ready as it could be. All up to personal preference, I suppose.

that's probably intentional
I'm troubled with the ending to ME3 by this, I think they confirmed that you can free-roam after the ending, which translates into, "After defeating the Reapers and getting an epic, yet satisfying ending, you're returned back to the penthouse of the Normandy with the sound of the air system slowly buzzing in the background."
Talk about a mood killer, imagine if Fallout 3, Mass Effect or Dragon Age Origins just took you back to a certain location to free-roam.
Eh, it wouldnt really bother me if they allowed you to roam.
There would certainly be a "what now?" vibe, but that can be said for any RPG, really. If you dont want to play you could just stop playing, the free roam ending you make is not nessesarily canon, its just to fuck around with the stuff you havn't had the time to do. To be honest, Mass Effect 2 felt like a more linear game to me than ME1 so I didnt have a huge urge to "explore" the galaxy at the end, but if ME3 "feels" less linear and "feels" more like Im some lone-wolf deep space pioneer, then Id probably take the time to see everything. Hopefully plantary surfaces are a bit more sprawling and in-depth; perhaps a combination of the uniqueness of ME2 planets, with the scale and raw atmopshere of ME1's planets. That'd suck me in and I'd definetely play after the ending.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Sure, free roam will still allow you to explore the galaxy and possibly do some assignments, but once Shepard's finished stopping the Reapers, I would feel odd that the Alliance would just keep a hero of his magnitude just cruising around the galaxy doing menial tasks.
This does not mean I'm against a free roam after the game. I'm just saying it would seem odd.

It's alright, hun. It's still good conversation!

Well, I though Shepard gets solid spectre status again in ME3. Not like you're devoted alliance by the end, Seems like busting up hostile merc settlements and stuff like that would be spectre stuff; especially if theres DLCs that include bigger endgame missions. Could always just have a dilouge peice at the end where they say something like
Cookie cutter alliance person:
"you've had a rough two to five (?) years sherphard, how about you take a down time"
Shepard:
A) "Yeah, I think its about time to settle down, fuck some alien bitches and smoke my pipe"
B) "NO, I'm a spectre, the easy life aint for me you alliance pussy. Im going to fuck some alien bitches and smoke my pipe and explore the galaxy and shoot up some mercenaries :frogc00l:"
But with Bioware's dalouge writing.
Well, considering that we are grown up with Norwegian (in Norway durr), taught English at school, and later a self chosen second foreign language (I got Spanish) it's not a lot.
What do you mean it's not a lot.
We grow up with Estonian, start with English early on, then learn Russian AND another foreign language, I chose Spanish for example.
You should be able to import an ME2 save where Shepard dies, and you get a cut scene of the universe getting destroyed by Reapers. Also why aren't you a Spectre in ME2?

Isn't that what happens if you let the [sp]council die[/sp]?
Isn't that what happens if you let the [sp]council die[/sp]?
Either:
A. Refused the offer to be reinstated
B. Let the [sp]council die and allowed ambassador asshole be the council leader.[/sp]
Isn't that what happens if you let the [sp]council die[/sp]?
Ah ok, I got frustrated and didn't beat the first ME until just this week actually, and it's cannon for [sp] the council to die[/sp]
Also, a friend mentioned something about a separate co-op campaign for ME3, anyone have any info on that?
and it's cannon for [sp] the council to die[/sp]
Was too caught up in your first statement, a few different developers have responded to this over Twitter. While they have not outright said they were not doing this, they have heavily implied it. One developer said something along the lines of "we're focused solely on a great single player experience" in response to a fan asking about the rumor. Search twitter, Casey Hudson's twitter and his coworkers if you'd like the exact quotes.
Actually I think it was just the way I answered the questions at the begging of me2, I dunno.

Also that Turian councilor pisses me off.

That's why we all hope we can "air quote" him in ME3.

Ah yes, Reapers. The race of sentient starships allegedly waiting in dark space.
We have dismissed that claim.

The council pretty much likes to have some sort of order, heck they have a track record of doing this

The obvious solution to the council problem is to kill the current council and put some of your squadmates in their place.

The better solution is to kill everyone and put Zaeed in their place.

The perfect solution is to clone Wrex and make a council full of Wrexness
ME2 uses EA login doesn't it?
The fuck is this shit?

All hail BioWare testers, for that incredible testing of Noveria.
