Mass Effect Megathread - Ah, yes, titles. We have dismissed that claim - Games

They get a few months training in basic survival before going out on Pilgrimage, to increase the survival odds. Learn about other species, learn how a weapon works, learn how to make the environment safe for them, generic electronics if they don't already know it, basic stuff just so they don't act like shits and get sold into slavery by the first person they see, not that anyone would want a Quarian slave. Still pales compared to actual military training and combat experience by every other squaddie.

It does show, tali got both of her squads killed in ME2 which means she is a terrible leader.

Like they did in ME & ME2.
