HOLY FUCKING HELL!
Quarians are kinda bird like, what if the had vestigial beaks?
Hey guys, new to this thread. I just finished Mass Effect (the original) and it was AMAZING.
About to get Mass Effect 2 now - hoping it'll be as good as the original!
ALSO! In the first one, I [sp]killed the Council when battling Sovereign[/sp], does that effect the second game if I use that save?

I personally enjoyed Mass Effect 2 more than the first one (save for Mass Effect 1's endgame from Virmire onwards). It's...well, it's different. Bioware's character writing is still top notch but the main plot suffers a bit from "middle child syndrome." Depending on your perspective, gameplay has either been improved or overly-simplified, with myself falling into the former camp.
Overall though, it's certainly not a bad game, and the ending feels like a good wind-up before the finale. Plus, while the main plot is not particularly strong, the multiple major subplots introduced by the characters are AWESOME.

They feel sorry for the Quarians, let them live.

Made this Tali facepalm screenshot long ago. Couldn't get rid of the HUD and I don't have the savegame anymore.
Someone should try my texture mod for the squadmates.
Totally not self-promoting. Nope.

This is a more updated version of Tali than what I actually released, but I'll be updating the download later.
I think it's just a cock up on Bioware's part. Humans are NOT genetically diverse even compared to most species on our own damn planet, infact compared to most animals we're practically clones of each other. No way we'd be the most genetically diverse species to go to space.
Not the point.
The humans are a good control group in comparison to turians, asari, quarians, batarians etc.
No one cares about anything else than the major sentient races. Can you imagine the Reapers reaping some sort of alien bacteria?

but that's the way the story writers dictate it to us
I really want a space warfare game mod (like empire at war or somthing) that makes it into a fight against reapers or somthing like that
Quarians are kinda bird like, what if the had vestigial beaks?
Quarians aren't really bird like, they're mammals (or the alien equivalent) with curved shins and 3 digits instead of five, they seem almost identicle to humans or asari.

Those reasons are more because we're balanced than purely better. We're not as strong, fast or powerful as krogan, salarians or asari, but then we aren't sterile, have moderate lifespans and are self sufficient. They didn't choose us because we're the best in anything, but because we're not the worst at anything.

WIP Mass Effect Chronicles Comic Con 2011 "featurette". We'll try sending it to the BioWare fan art contest.
Any C&C?
Doesn't seem like they need more than 3. More digits are only useful for using buttons
Does the quarian back-toe thing count?

humans are more versatile than any other species. only asari can be better in biotics than jack, only turians build better ships than humans... etc
out of all disciples where another species is number one, humans are on place 2 of everything, jack of all trades, but master of nothing.
How come so many aliens have 3 digits in mass effect?
Most animals have either 3 digits or 5, same as flowers usually have pettles in multiples of 3 or 5. The species with 3 digits probably only needed those on their planets. Only humans, asari, drell and batarians have 5 digits, all the rest have 3.

So you're saying that though we're not perfect but we're the closest you can get to their needs?
In other words, if you want a toast there's ham, cheese, bread and butter and humans are cheese and bread together, if you get what I mean.

Genetic diversity =/= ability to build ships. And that's what I just said.
Genetic diversity is how many alleles a species has, which humans have comparitivley few of than most species on Earth, so with the MASSIVE genepool that is an inter-galactic empire most species would realistically be more genetically diverse than humans.

That analogy makes no sense.
That analogy makes no sense.
Ah forget it.
Well, humans are well known for their adaptability in the MEverse.
Genetic diversity =/= ability to build ships
a fallacy, wrex admits it himself: krogans are rare in science probably because of their temper, hormones or insticts. except for dr okeer there are almost none krogan scientists that we know of. most of their technology was given to them.
humans can both, fight and think, it's of course related to our genetic diversity
[editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
"they were liberated from this state by the salarians, who "culturally uplifted" the krogan by giving them advanced technology and relocating them to..."

There's a huge difference between gentic diversity (the number of alleles in a genome) and agression levels (controlled by hormones, such as testosterone). A species can be genetically diverse and naturally aggressive.

yes I know that, now you're just trying to nail it down on my cheap excuse why I think krogans usually are not quite the intellectual ones. their abilities usually just cover the very subject of survival and fighting quite well, that's why they had their "uplifting". I refrain on purpose from getting into real genetics here, because it's so incredibly nerdy and pointless to justify plot holes or logical contradictions inside a video game.

They're mammals? But the could still be bird-like and be mammals, birds are the step right before mammals.
[editline]3rd July 2011[/editline]
And the reason humans are usually portrayed as best, and at least is part of the reason in the ME universe, is because humans are humans. We show compassion, yet we are determined and passionate, and Shepard represents exactly what humanity does best: be human.
Humans are the best in ME because every other game, movie or novel out there has Humanity as either the underdog being systematically annihilated/ass kicked by superior aliens, the evil empire that eventually gets it's ass handed to it when citizens within it realize how evil it is, or there aren't any aliens at all (and if they are, they're used in the Aliens/Predator role where Humans are simply hunted/eaten.)
Mass Effect is brilliant because it makes Humanity able to kick ass and take names on it's own power, rather then solely on the ability of the protagonist, who is less the glue holding the nation together (Master Chief) and more a symbol of Humanity itself.
