• Mass Effect Megathread - Ah, yes, titles. We have dismissed that claim

Alright. It's an animation, created in 3dsmax. As most of us can probably figure, there's likely to be a mission or two in Mass Effect 3 dealing with the quarian/geth conflict. This animation is kind of a "sunshine and butterflies" resolution to that conflict. A little cheesier than I'd like, but in all honesty the music is what inspired the concept. The song I'm going to use (and, indeed, am designing the animation around) is My Name is Lincoln, by Steve Jablonski. You can have a listen here. Basically, I want this animation to feel as triumphant and hopeful as the music suggests. My main difficulty is designing not only the surface of the quarian homeworld (Rannoch), but also in imagining plausible quarian architecture. If I have to bullshit my way through it then that's exactly what I'll do. Once I have the design down, however, making the environment should be (relatively) simple. Based on Haestrom and the Flotilla, Quarians seem to have a fondness for angular building design with smooth, tapered edges and corners. Tali said that quarians had something of a symbiotic relationship with the local flora and fauna, so I'm thinking that their buildings should reflect this and feature fairly strong integration with nature. Thoughts?
I agree actually, I think parts of buildings as odd as it sounds, should perhaps be natural, like houses built around cave-rocks or something (but that seems a little too odd). Or perhaps stuff such as vines and all that kinda mish-mash all over them. Overall, I like the idea and can't give many suggestions, as I'm sure you already thought of them before.
Sounds cool if you do it right. With JohnLuc saving the day.

I think what I'm going to end up doing is designing a "refuge." What I mean by this is a good sized structure that would have housed and provided for quarian civilians while they built the ships that they would eventually call their homes. Their eviction from the planet would likely have been a very slow process (years, at the very least), so it's logical they would pick out of the way locations to live and find a way to survive off-world. There would probably be dozens of similar structures all over the planet. At least, that's my thought process.
I think that sounds good, honestly. (Dunno where I got the fucking cave-rock idea, probably too many Zelda gaems)
Krogasm is great "yeah! right on your ass!"

Right as he climaxes, he yells, "I. AM. KROGAAAAAN!"

"FEEL THE BUTT RAPE!"
Ah yes, the "meme phase".

I need to make another ugly Shepard. My current one isn't ugly enough.
I need to make another ugly Shepard. My current one isn't ugly enough.
Bug eyed Shepard. :gonk:
My current ugly Shepard is far to handsome. [thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21171698/MassEffect2%202010-12-31%2023-07-30-03.png[/thumb]
Just finished my 12th playthrough a moment ago. Full renegade, but I switched things up and destroyed the base. Figured since I had a full paragon playthrough with saving the base, I should do the opposite just so I have every possible base covered for ME3.
I just realized I've never played as a biotic.
Anybody else got a monstrously ugly femshep?
Humans are the best in ME because every other game, movie or novel out there has Humanity as either the underdog being systematically annihilated/ass kicked by superior aliens, the evil empire that eventually gets it's ass handed to it when citizens within it realize how evil it is, or there aren't any aliens at all (and if they are, they're used in the Aliens/Predator role where Humans are simply hunted/eaten.) Mass Effect is brilliant because it makes Humanity able to kick ass and take names on it's own power, rather then solely on the ability of the protagonist, who is less the glue holding the nation together (Master Chief) and more a symbol of Humanity itself.
Personally the message I took away from Mass Effect wasn't that humanity was inherently special, but that individuals are. Shepard being the most obvious example. The Reapers are only interested in humanity after Shepard kicked the asses, beforehand we were just as pathetic as the other races to them. I think the message is that it's not your genetics or anything like that which defines you, but who you are as a person, and the actions you choose to take. You can even look to Garrus and Wrex as some evidence to that statement. Neither of them let tradition or what was expected of them because of their species get in their way. They do what they believe to be right, and I think that's the message that Mass Effect tries making.
good point, they were incredibly interested for Shepard's corpse, I guess it's not just his DNA which they could steal more easily, but rather his personality and brain patterns. harbinger always says preserve Shepard's body if possible.
I swear to god every time I pass by this thread I read "Mass Effect Megathread - Ah, yes, titties. We have dismissed that claim" Anyway, did the games get boring after your 3rd play-through? I can't seem to enjoy myself in the game after playing through it for the 4th time :/

Can't be a Freudian Slip if you're reading it (May be wrong here, but I've never heard Freudian slip being applied to reading). People usually see only the first and last word of a word and could still read it (See: That funny english paper about people being able to read fumbled words by just reading the first and last letter), but when two words have similar starts and ends, it can be confused. Also, Freud was a pervert, you should know that Kelly! [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
Anyway, did the games get boring after your 3rd play-through? If you're taking large breaks between play-through, no need to force yourself playing it if you're not enjoying it.
All that talk about alligators vs. humans and no one decided that Killer Croc was relevant. I mean, best of both worlds.
These quotes are driving me crazy: "Sorry for the inconvenience, sir." "Commander, you have a new message in your private terminal." And fucking "User alert"!
