I'll wait for a trailer before jumping to false conclusions
Alliance tradition.
human tradition
I must be the only one that doesn't like the idea of a movie about the first Contact War. Honestly I never found that particular piece of the Mass Effect universe all that interesting.
It's weird because the Turians are our allies now, I don't want to see both killing each other in cold blood
Just playing through Mordin's loyalty mission again and I must say: it's probably, by far, one of the best missions in either game to date. Basically THE main concept that the ME series grapples with is decisions, good versus bad, right versus wrong, and how, in the end, there's not really any black or white, but just varying shades of grey. Mordin's loyalty mission beautifully explores those concepts.
god damn me3.. hurry up, i need to see the consequences of my actions
It's weird because the Turians are our allies now, I don't want to see both killing each other in cold blood
My memory is very hazy on the subject, but what happened in that war? I'm sure I remember it being said that it was very short and not much actually happened. There wasn't any on ground fighting was there, just ships?
In fact, playing through ME2 again I have no worries about the quality of the writing of the ME3 plot. Mac Walters is obviously a very good writer, and given that the general idea of the middle part of a trilogy is to build up allies and to expand on characters I think it's fair to say he hit the nail dead on the head. All he has to do is apply that same ability to wrapping up the trilogy and we'll have an amazingly written game to enjoy!
Directed by M. Night Shya...Shy...that guy that makes crappy nonsensical movies.
I never expected Shyamalan to direct the movie. What a twist. By the way, this film will be live action. The anime one is a different project, and probably a more likely one.
A Mass Effect movie should be like the opening cutscene
and it shouldn't be about any main character, that usually ends up with too high expectations. wouldn't mind seeing some locations from the games though, omega is great.
Wouldn't mind seeing the Presidium in a movie, just as long as they get the sterile aesthetic right.
something like blade runner would be godlike [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] probably a story about TIM as a young soldier or specops like in the comics
I have some hope for the movie, Bioware is helping with the script, its being made by Legendary Pictures who also made the Dark Knight and Inception, and (hopefully) it will be during the First Contact War. Hopefully it will be the first good video game movie.
I really want to believe this, but I've seen plenty of times before people making basically this exact same statement about video game movies. Of course the Halo one was partially true, since we got District 9 out of it and that movie was fucking amazing. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
My memory is very hazy on the subject, but what happened in that war? I'm sure I remember it being said that it was very short and not much actually happened. There wasn't any on ground fighting was there, just ships?
Humans violate space law they had no idea existed, Turians start killing Humans in retaliation without even explaining why, culminating in the Siege and conquering of Shanxi. During this time the Turians were doing some pretty harsh things, such as dropping asteroids on city blocks just to take out a single squad of soldiers. Then the fleet the Turians didn't know Humanity had shows up and kicks their shit, the Turians get pissed and start preparing for total war before the Council shows up and goes, "Woah, let's all be friends."
They weren't dropping asteroids, there are other ways to do orbital bombardment than that. It's a weird storyline to follow because there's no satisfying climax, the council intervenes and we just get peace before a proper war breaks out. Sure they can have a big conflict, did we actually liberate Shanxi during the war? Either way, the "Alien ambassadors come and offer peace, welcome to the galaxy, you're expected to work with the guys who just fucked over your colony" ending is shit. Not to say I haven't seen worse endings but it seems like it would be better if it stopped just a bit earlier or whatever. Maybe have the peace about 2/3rds through and make a different story continue so we get a proper ending. Guerrillas and shit, kinda like Evolution did. It's gotta have a better ending than that though.
I'm not sure if I want an ME movie to be live action or CGI. I mean if they're gonna have aliens in it (which, being the ME universe they, with a 99% certainty, will) they're gonna look fucking stupid if they're not done in CGI. Like was mentioned, it'd have to be done like Avatar, but only if the quality of the CGI aliens is comparable to the realism of the human characters.

I think it should all be done with cardboard cutouts / finger puppets. CGI is so mainstream.
What is up with the texture detail randomly going shitty on Mass Effect on the pc?
What is up with the texture detail randomly going shitty on Mass Effect on the pc?
ignore it, it's the way textures get preloaded heavily compressed to save VRAM [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] aka mashed potato syndrome when you look at Garrus' face
ignore it, it's the way textures get preloaded heavily compressed to save VRAM [editline]7th July 2011[/editline] aka mashed potato syndrome when you look at Garrus' face
Apparently, they 'addressed' that according to the patch notes. I know it's a silly thing to complain about, but it's kinda distracting when everyone has blurry clothes.

Main texture problem I had was if I did something like a sidequest on a planet and entered one of those prefab, above ground colony buildings occasionally I'd be staring at several flat, grey surfaces with enemies running about screaming, "I WILL DESTROY YOU!" for about 30 seconds before the textures loaded. Also, "ENEMIES EVERYWHERE!"

On an unrelated note: does anyone get annoyed by how things like LoTSB and Arrival are supposed to be, canonically, set after the events of the main ME2 plot, yet they're given to you really early on in the game? I don't want to play Arrival until after the suicide mission, yet Admiral Hackett basically came to me like... what, 1/3 or 1/4 of the way through ME2 (?) and was like, "LOL REAPER INVASION IMMINENT SHEPARD." It sort of makes me feel like I NEED to do it ASAP, but I don't wanna (and I know I don't have to, but it still makes me feel like I do).
