The reason that it might have said I was causing problems ,is I was dancing around from blank map to blank map designing terrain around a lake with islands interspersed. I was doing this partly on request of my brother OogalaBoogala. I never touched any other city, only empty maps slots.

What? Were you building any around the lake? I never touched any cities and no area of land outside the vicinity of the lake. The only thing I can think of is I went onto a tile that someone had started to use around the lake but had not been saved or updated. When I came in to do change around the area of terrain some more (I spent upwards of 10 minutes on some) the newly built city that had been saved would be overwritten by my edited land area, as a empty space with no city built.
I edited upwards of 20 blank areas of land near and on the lake.
So how do I access the Dropbox folder?
How long does it usually take for a reply to the pm?

My city was in the far upper left corner. In fact, mine was the very first land slot on the map.
I got about 20k in my city, it's environment is shit, but everything else is good and I'm making quite a nice profit.

Build parks, and make sure garbage is taken care of. Also, get rid of dirty industry. If you want to be successful, go take a look at Daleville. That's my most successful city.

Oh, and it wasn't made with cheats, like the rest of these "successful" cities!
My new two cities take advantage of each other, one is resident and work and the other city is only work and commercial.
If you did not know this ( All new and old sim city 4 players should know this in my opinion because it helps big time ) you can create one city and use it for houses and then create a new city next to the old one and use that for work and then same for commercial.

How do you really get rid of the dirty industry? I'm taxing it 20%, and the demand for them are at bottom level. I have a 2x2 park every second industry block, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Quite frankly I have no bloody idea how that happened. As I did not ever change items in the drop-box, or delete the city(ies) of the map.
