how do I leave the project?
" Inacio Puctoncis left the shared folder Facepunch Sim City 4 colab 34 mins ago In Facepunch Sim City 4 colab (1), You deleted City - AidanCKY-is-shit-ville (M...2011-07-04).sc4 and 293 more files. 52 mins ago In Facepunch Sim City 4 colab (1), Zach Beever deleted City - Nieuwe stad (15) (Endange...2011-07-06).sc4 and 8 more files. " This project is dead. Dropbox fucking sucks cock.
Theres absolutely nothing wrong with dropbox, simcity4 was never meant for this.
This project could only work with a private group of trusted individuals, not on a public forum. Shit like deleted cities and cheats is expected to happen when you got people from all over the world who have never met each other have 100% access to the file.

I used to love using the llama head advisors cheat, it was hilarious to watch when my environmental and financial advisors flipped shit.
Am I the only one not having issues with Dropbox and Sim City 4? My cities are always fine when I come to them, they always load, etc.
I will be creating a second project using FTPBox. Features -Ability to delete files has been removed (this removing the ability to delete everything to troll the group) -Instant updates just like DropBox -Backups -No upload limit This will be running as soon as John makes some changes to FTPBox. Requirements All that will be required is that you send me what you want your username and password to be. I'm taking applications now so send me a PM if you want in.
what is FTPbox
what is FTPbox
FTP but automatic syncing between the server and client. Set and forget like dropbox.

If people can't delete files they can never make new cities as the old "new city" file has to be deleted in order for the player to make a city.

Uhhhhhh.....Most FTP boxes are paid services.
I will be up for it IF it is done right. The current region had lots of people, and if we start afresh it may take time to get going again.
We got to face it, simcity was never made to be like this, it's like fighting something that cant be beaten, we arent going to succeed
Hey guys, I can host a FTP on my box and actually maintain user accounts and constant minutely backups as I have a box with a 2TB hdd. This would fix the obvious moderation and deletion problem. However, since binladen is inactive and the cities are pretty much fucked over beyond belief you will have to import your cities from a 600mb backup I have.(to avoid confliction).
Well i swear binladen has only been gone for a day or so, let him have a life he'll return soon I imagine.
Last activity was 23 minutes ago. Scratch that. I got the invitation to dropbox now !
Then what is he not responding to this thread :(
Mods aren't really good for this type of thing anyways. Get NAM and texture if you want, but we can't run loose with too many mods. Could screw things up, I can't even load my own city.
It's a bad habit of mine though. I cringe every time I see the same building pasted over and over throughout my city.
Looks like BInladen is accepting people in again. I'll put the FTPBox stuff on hold but will have it ready for a backup.
You guys gotta calm down, just because he goes away for a day or two doesn't mean the whole thing is ending.
Jad, alot of shit is messed up. Cities are missing etc.
We got to face it, simcity was never made to be like this, it's like fighting something that cant be beaten, we arent going to succeed
It works when you don't have 30 people trying. I'm part of a private collab and its just 3 people and we haven't had any problems.
Jad, alot of shit is messed up. Cities are missing etc.
If you have a missing city, just go into dropbox. If your file is there with "Some Twit's Conflicting Copy" delete it. After that, or if it's not there, click 'show deleted files', find your city file and select 'Undelete' in the options. If your city has been griefed, go to the file on the website, in the options go to 'Previous versions' and restore the backup last edited by you. If some kind fellow has gone and terraformed the square your city was on (*cough*doonbugie*cough*) delete it in-game before doing the above.

(*cough*cheesedelux*cough*)
if i load a city so i can look at it in better detail and the game crashes does that mean that they have a mod installed that i dont have?
Jad, alot of shit is messed up. Cities are missing etc.
That's been happening since the start. As someone said, the game wasn't made for this.
I do not terraform over peoples cities, anyways someone spammed volcanoes on my metropolis for some reason. (*cough*cheesedelux*cough*)
Um what. Try reading what I said before claiming I'm doing stupid shit. I said you terraformed in the space where my city had been, not on it/replacing it. Also you can check who's been editing your cities on the dropbox website. Mine just got deleted by a conflicting version thing, which seems to be caused by people playing without fully synced folders.
